We have eaten here a few times, the food is very good and we have enjoyed coming here. The menu is well done and they have some great fusion inspired dishes that are great. The wait staff works hard and could not be nicer. The issue we have is the hostess/manager, and after reading other reviews it seems a common problem. She does not like her job and does not like dealing with tourist or people in general. Our first impression walking into the restaurant set us off for the night. She could not be more unfriendly and unprofessional. This first impression of negativity and unwelcoming attitude makes it hard to overcome a dinner out. We ask our waiter about her, and it turns out she is the one of the owner daughters. So she is not going any where. So be warned, it will be a unpleasant experience dealing with her, but if you can get past her, and still keep a positive attitude, dinner will be great. This place is some of the best Thai food I've had in a long time. I don't write reviews often but this place more than deserved it. Our waiter was pleasant and very helpful when we were boxing up our food, and he made sure we had proper utensils in our to-go bag. The food was incredible, and had a perfect level of spice to it. I had the yellow curry (my go-to dish for Thai food), and it was a perfect balance of savory broth and chicken and potatoes. Definitely would go again, and would recommend to anyone. read more

Thai-inspired cuisine meets slightly hippie ski-town. The ambiance is relaxed with thai money under the clear table tops, mismatched homemade cloth napkins, a slideshow of beautiful pictures of Thailand stream in the background. The menu is massive and overwhelming at first. Essentially, it breaks down to a set of standard thai appetizers, lettuce wraps and hand rolls (specialty of the restaurant), choice of meat with different sauces paired with mashed parsnips and asparagus, and some traditional thai dishes (i.e. pad thai). There is also a wide selection of teas available. I had the mango-miso salmon which was ok (felt like the flavors weren't balanced with the sweetness of the mango), however tastes of other dishes were excellent. The brown gravy sauce with meet and vegetables that my husband had was very tasty as were the combination chicken and beef lettuce wraps that we had to start. The service from our waitress was great - she was very knowledgeable about different dishes on the menu and able to steer diners based on preferences for spice and "weight" of the dish. Service from the manager at the outset was a bit unfriendly as we waited to be seated, but our waitress did a nice job. It was a relaxed pace meal - likely due to how busy the restaurant was (and the size of the menu). Note: While the restaurant doesn't take reservations, they do take advance adds to their "list". In my opinion, this essentially means they take reservations but aren't good about staying on time so won't commit to a time. The policy makes it slightly better than showing up and waiting around, but given the small space in the restaurant it is very awkward to wait more than 10 minutes. On the plus side, they did call us to say they were running behind and to show up 15 minutes later. read more

At Siam, you cannot make reservations, but they do allow you to call and give them a time you'd like to dine, and they do their best to get you in. If we showed up at 5:00 p.m. they seated us. After that, you will have a wait. We had tried two days before to get take out. That was a big disappointment. If you want take out, try calling around 4:15 p.m. Anytime after 5:00 pm is going to be difficult Appetizers are phenomenal. Highly recommend the "nipple platter" that gives you a taste of several items and the dumplings and spring rolls. YUM! Recommend the cucumber martini and Molly's Mango drink. The men at the table got craft drinks and some Thai drinks. The Seafood basket was a real treat and in a unique Sesame Rice paper basket with Shrimp, scallops, mussels, squid and lightly battered Tilapia filet, combined with water chestnuts, green onion, white onion, cashew nuts and Siam's Thai Chili sauces, Red Curry Sauce was our daughter's favorite. I just loved my seared tuna with Choo-Chee Curry paste and Kaffir lime leaves in a light coconut sauce with steamed carrots and broccoli. It came out beautifully presented and delicious. We felt this was one of the highlight meals on vacation. It was the best Thai food we had ever had. It continues to be one of our favorites in Telluride. It will earn a repeat visit next time. There is a large number of items on the menu. Problem is trying to decide what you want. Good, quick, friendly service with a fun and casual atmosphere. Very popular, but worth the wait! REMINDER: Get there early or just wait a little bit - you won't regret it. Once again,, we will definitely return the next time we are in Telluride! I ordered the Thai Vegetable Garden with chicken and brown rice, crispy egg rolls, and 10 oz sake. Service was slow and waiters seemed impatient. We requested separate checks due to expense accounting and we got a lecture about company policy, but the waiter finally agreed. Crispy egg rolls were greasy and almost flavorless. The 10oz House sake was a shocking $16! Food was very slow to the table, and the dish I ordered was so salty it was nearly inedible. I ate anyway to avoid the hassle and because we were out of time. Check came as one, not split as agreed. The waiter became surly and his attitude was awful when we asked to have it separated. Even then, he got the credit cards mixed up and put the wrong tickets on each of our cards. We complained to the manager, but my impression is that they do not care. We will never go back. FOLLOW UP! This place added an unauthorized tip charge to the credit card after we left since we stiffed the surly waiter for his attitude. This place deserves to fail. read more

The food in terms of quality and freshness was good. It has flavors but lacks complexity and depth of true Thai food flavor profile. It was good but it was not true Thai. This might be due to demographics of it's constituencies rather than chief's fault. I ordered spicy but it felt like eating a lunch in midtown Manhattan, spice level is too conservative for my like. I read about good places to eat in Telluride, and Siam kept popping up on lists. We went and were not disappointed. Set up in a cute little converted house close to the entrance to the town, it was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We had the Tom Kha soup with shrimp and it was very flavorful, and then shared the nipple platter, which was like an appetizer sampler platter. Would go back again. read more

Don't waste your time and money here. Just go anywhere else. For the food itself, I'd give it probably 3 or 3.5 stars - definitely not the best Thai food I've ever had but not that bad either. However, consider the service and the price you are paying, it's totally a waste of time and money. The place is a chaos with loud music and servers running around, yet we were not really getting any kind of service - waited for more than half an hour for the food and nobody even stopped by for water refill until we were almost done with the meal. Updating my review because since the first bad experience, we've been back twice and both were pleasant experiences. I believe since the first time, they've had a change in management and now they actually take reservations! We started out with the curry puffs and the tuna tataki and both were delicious! We all got different entrees and everything was good, the only note is last year we got medium spicy on everything and it wasn't quite spicy enough so we got spicy and it was just a little too much so need to find a happy medium! For drinks, we love Saki and they have a great selection. The martini was very well made too. read more

One of our parties ordered sake, soup and his entree. Unfortunately the sake came after the entree, right after the soup which also came after the entree. To make matters worse instead of a simple apology, the answer was that the bartender was busy. In that short statement you realize that the waiter had no concept of the problem and deflected to someone else. A simple sorry would have sufficed. We arrived six minutes early and were asked to wait outside for the 5:00PM dinner gong to ring. After they let us in, our server arrived in a few minutes and took our drink and appetizer order. We were seated directly across from the bar and as we talked and waited, wondering where our drinks were, I watched the bartender continuously chat up a couple pals at the bar. When the appetizer finally arrived 25 minutes later, I mentioned I'd like to have my drink and then we waited some more while she finally filled our order. I had a killer Cosmo at the Cosmopolitan recently and was looking forward to my new favorite drink. Now, I know there was probably at least - some - vodka and Cointreau in this version, but I sure couldn't find it. I drank half and finally just let their pink limeade sit on the table and ordered some wine. We gobbled up the appetizers and -- waited some more; 55 minutes after ordering, our food finally arrived. My husband ordered Pad Thai which is always pretty good here, and I splurged and got the lobster tempura with Thai hollandaise sauce. Good tempura has a light, white, crunchy and almost greaseless coating - and the seafood or veggies inside are lightly and perfectly cooked. At Siam, the coating was very thick and distinctly brown, chunky and noticeably greasy. The lobster was lifeless and dry and really, just a travesty to the delicious and moist seafood it should have been. All this was piled on top of "fried egg noodles" like the canned chow mein noodles you may have gotten as a child. The Thai hollandaise sauce was poured all over the top - a coagulated, glutinous glop that was appallingly flavorless and added nothing to the meal. This was truly one of the worst meals I have ever - not - eaten. The best things about this meal were the bits of broccoli and carrots that accompanied the "tempura" - but, alas, they were cold.
