We called in a to-go order and were pleasantly surprised by how good the pizza was! We ordered the small Brooklyn-style Italian Parmesan pizza with prosciutto and burrata, and it was excellent. The crust was cooked perfectly, and the ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. Our only complaint has nothing to do with the food. Their website states that they are not pet friendly, but when I picked up our order, I asked because it seemed odd for a place called Brown Dog Pizza. They confirmed that dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio, which was great to hear. It would be helpful if they updated their website to reflect that so people traveling with dogs don't skip this place. Brown Dog Pizza is a place definitely worth visiting while in Telluride. The Brooklyn Bridge is an absolute must get pizza. The crust is thick with a nice crunch on the bottom with crisp cheese all around. All the toppings are great together, the pepperonis are some of my favorite and the ricotta adds a nice creamy cool flavor into the mix. The classic round pesto was pretty good but the crust isn't as great compared to the Detroit style. The pesto and cherry tomatoes together are fantastic. The place was packed out on a Thursday afternoon, and we got a little booth in the back by the bathroom hallway. The service was limited for the number of people in the place, they were just so busy. We just wanted pizza and every night there was over an hour wait. Just take reservations for goodness sake. Put a time limit if you are worried people will dine too long. Our first experience was during Covid where it was take out only but we got the amazing full sports bar and ambiance experience. Seating downstairs and up top plus a large bar. Food was a 5/5. Caesar salad was delicious, the Good Dog cheesy garlic bread comes on their Detroit style crust and the Little Rose may be our new favorite Detroit style pizza being both sweet and spicy with decadent toppings and a blast of freshness with the basil. We struggled with places being closed during the off season, so we ended up coming here twice while in Telluride. Between our visits, my husband and I shared: - Chester's Tail Wagger, Classic Pizza (seasonal) - Little Rose, Detroit Style Pizza - Gold Hill, Detroit Style Pizza - Southwestern BBQ Chicken, Detroit Style Pizza We really enjoyed everything we had here. The seasonal pizza was definitely my favorite followed by the Little Rose. They have a really good Detroit style crust. I tried my mom's Gold Hill on a classic crust and actually thought that pizza was better on the classic crust instead of the Detroit. I wish the BBQ pizza had BBQ sauce as the base instead of red sauce with just a drizzle of BBQ. The red sauce was a bit weird to me on a BBQ pizza, but it was still good. I just recently discovered they also have locations in Denver, but it's called Blue Pan Pizza so maybe I'll be back sooner than I thought! read more

Another Terrible Telluride dining experience, I am vegan, they offer a choice of a small vegan pizza, no vegan slices offered, for a whopping twenty five dollars of sweat sock tasting vegan cheese, the vegan peperoni was delicious the crust was below average slightly undercooked, we could not get the Detroit style vegan. It is obvious nobody in management or the kitchen has tasted anything vegan on their menu or it they would know. It was busy at lunch and they were rushing people every which way. We were seated upstairs inside, which had a fun, eclectic vibe with lots of sports memorabilia. Our server was quick, friendly, and suggested we try the Detroit-style pizza since it was our first time. We also ordered a Caesar salad and garlic knots to start. The salad came out fast and was a surprise hit--sometimes the simplest things end up being the stars, and this Caesar was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The garlic knots, on the other hand, weren't for us. Something about the butter or seasoning just tasted off, though the portion size was huge. Then came the pizza--holy moly, it was a brick! Luckily, we only ordered a small, and even then we could only manage one piece each. Perfect for leftovers later that night. The crust was thick and crispy, loaded with toppings, and definitely lived up to the hype. All in all, Brown Dog has a cool vibe, solid service, and truly standout pizza.
