We called in a to-go order and were pleasantly surprised by how good the pizza was! We ordered the small Brooklyn-style Italian Parmesan pizza with prosciutto and burrata, and it was excellent. The crust was cooked perfectly, and the ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. Our only complaint has nothing to do with the food. Their website states that they are not pet friendly, but when I picked up our order, I asked because it seemed odd for a place called Brown Dog Pizza. They confirmed that dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio, which was great to hear. It would be helpful if they updated their website to reflect that so people traveling with dogs don't skip this place. Stopped by for a midday pick me up -- what's better than wings and beer in a mountain town?? The place was packed out on a Thursday afternoon, and we got a little booth in the back by the bathroom hallway. The service was limited for the number of people in the place, they were just so busy. I started with a delicious sour beer, and ordered a kids burger since I wasn't super hungry. We also got wings for the table, which were delicious. Honestly, the burger was basically the size of a small adult burger and did well to fill me up. Got a combo of the Koto and Brooklyn Bridge. Both were delicious- eventually. I started with a slice of the Koto and my mouth was on fire! We've been waiting 5 years to come back here and it did not disappoint! Our first experience was during Covid where it was take out only but we got the amazing full sports bar and ambiance experience. Seating downstairs and up top plus a large bar. Food was a 5/5. Caesar salad was delicious, the Good Dog cheesy garlic bread comes on their Detroit style crust and the Little Rose may be our new favorite Detroit style pizza being both sweet and spicy with decadent toppings and a blast of freshness with the basil. We struggled with places being closed during the off season, so we ended up coming here twice while in Telluride. Between our visits, my husband and I shared: - Chester's Tail Wagger, Classic Pizza (seasonal) - Little Rose, Detroit Style Pizza - Gold Hill, Detroit Style Pizza - Southwestern BBQ Chicken, Detroit Style Pizza We really enjoyed everything we had here. The seasonal pizza was definitely my favorite followed by the Little Rose. They have a really good Detroit style crust. I tried my mom's Gold Hill on a classic crust and actually thought that pizza was better on the classic crust instead of the Detroit. I wish the BBQ pizza had BBQ sauce as the base instead of red sauce with just a drizzle of BBQ. The red sauce was a bit weird to me on a BBQ pizza, but it was still good. We rolled into Telluride after a long day of travel and were absolutely starving. It was the weekend of the film festival, so everywhere was packed, but Brown Dog Pizza had only a 20-30 minute wait. Super easy system--you put your number in, check your place in line, and get a text when it's your turn. Our server was quick, friendly, and suggested we try the Detroit-style pizza since it was our first time. We also ordered a Caesar salad and garlic knots to start. The salad came out fast and was a surprise hit--sometimes the simplest things end up being the stars, and this Caesar was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The garlic knots, on the other hand, weren't for us. Something about the butter or seasoning just tasted off, though the portion size was huge. Then came the pizza--holy moly, it was a brick! Luckily, we only ordered a small, and even then we could only manage one piece each. Perfect for leftovers later that night. The crust was thick and crispy, loaded with toppings, and definitely lived up to the hype. All in all, Brown Dog has a cool vibe, solid service, and truly standout pizza. We went on a weekday evening and it was busy as it can get for a weekday. We sat at the bar, ordered few drinks while browsing though the menu which has apps, burgers, wraps, subs, enough Pizza options both Detroit-style and classic or you can make your own pizza as well. They also let you order any pizza in any style. Being from NJ , we were not sure about ordering Detroit-style pizza but our bartender suggested to give it a try. The staff was so friendly! They got us seated despite having pups with us. Very dog-friendly outdoor patio area. The food was delicious! They had a vegan pizza for me with plenty of toppings. Dang it; just had a review vanish into the ether. Okay, sad to make this report: I'd been looking forward to getting back to Brown Dog Pizza and . . . it just didn't do it for me this time. We've been to Brown Dog Pizza several times before (last visit over five years ago, however) and this visit wasn't up to par. We were the first ones in the door ahead of an enormous Sunday lunch crowd, and our server got our orders in immediately, ahead of the throng. (He also did a fantastic job of staying on top of an enormous number of people during the time we were there - and he was ably assisted by bussers who jumped on top of any little issue they noticed. Good show on service.) And our pizzas arrived quickly - surprisingly quickly, given our recollection of how long the Detroit pies take to bake. And they were - surprisingly not all that warm. Well, the toppings were warm and the pepperoni were curled, but the crusts just weren't hot. Warm enough, but lacking that molten quality I've experienced here before and was yearning to experience again. The sauce didn't seem as vibrant, either. Ah well. Toppings were good. Prices were reasonable. (I think what happened is that they had a bunch of pre-baked crusts ready, shoveled on the toppings, and threw them in the oven. Good for fast service on a chaotic day but not the top quality Detroit pies I remembered.) The room is the same as it ever was: good use of space, nice bar area and great overlooking balcony seating. There was an inviting covered patio out front that I don't remember from our previous visits (good use of COVID funds?).
