Our server, Eric, was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. We finished with the Raw Berry Tart, which was the perfect dessert after dinner. Light, refreshing, and not overly sweet, it was a great way to end the meal. We really enjoyed our evening at Wood Ear and would happily return. Stay away. This place is apparently a haven for the uneducated COVID-paranoid moron. They have closed their dining room and have a FOUR HOUR wait time for takeout customers because they are apparently scared of the big, bad Rona. NO food is worth that wait. Trust me. Take a trip over to 200 W. Colorado and visit Wok of Joy where they still have a spine. Although the Wok of Joy menu is a little scaled back. the food is GREAT, the staff is awesome, and they apparently care about their customers because they have a spine and they don't pander to those who live in fear of this stupid virus. I had some uber-tasty Thai food in 25 minutes from Wok of Joy vs. this ridiculous four hour wait time due to Siam's fear of The Rona. IMHO, trying Siam simply isn't worth your time, money, or patience when Wok of Joy is the tried-and-true go-to and has been around for awhile. read more

Fantastic experience!! My wife and I sat at the bar, I'm glad we did because the the menu is so big that it was nice to have the bartender take us thoroughly through it. He had very good suggestions and was very knowledgeable. We started off with the Tom khan soup w/ chicken, Roti w green curry, and the Tuna Tekki for appetizers. All we're absolutely delicious. Then for the main course we split the King and I. A combination of the crispy duck and a shrimp kabob with thailadaise sauce. It was a perfect meal. read more

Visited over the busiest week of the year...Christmas to New Years. Even with the limited seating and crazy cold outside, the staff remained calm and pleasant. The food was wonderful as always, and since I had been craving their Banana Curry every since we made our travel plans, it was so wonderful not to be let down....it was EXACTLY as I had remembered, which is sometimes hard for chefs to pull off. Good luck getting a spot. They have a terrible reservation system, and even if you do manage to get a reservation, good luck actually getting in at ur time... Not the best workers or service, the hostess was a fire breathing dragon who bitches at you and runs away when she can sense you're about to say something about her attitude. The gondola ride and panoramic mountain views are breathtaking and were, without question, the highlight of our evening. Unfortunately, the dining experience itself didn't live up to the reputation or the price. Our dinner for two, including gratuity, was approximately $325, and we expected the level of food, service, and attention to detail that comes with a premier fine-dining restaurant. The meal started with promise. The lump crab corn soup was creamy and flavorful, but despite its name, there was barely any lump crab. I found myself searching for it throughout the bowl. It was enjoyable, but I expected much more considering the description and the caliber of the restaurant. The hamachi crudo was also underwhelming. While it was beautifully presented, the flavors were forgettable and lacked the freshness and balance we expected. My boyfriend summed it up best when he said he wouldn't even rank it as "okay." Unfortunately, the entrées never reached the "wow" factor that so many reviews led us to expect. My Dayboat Alaskan Halibut was slightly dry, and while the fish was well seasoned, the accompaniments were so tangy that they completely overpowered the delicate flavor of the fish. My boyfriend's Pan Seared Elk Sirloin was cooked beautifully, but the purée served alongside it simply wasn't very good and didn't complement the meat. Neither entrée left us saying, "We'd come back just to order that again," which is exactly the feeling I hope to have after spending over $300 on dinner. Dessert was enjoyable, but it wasn't enough to change our overall impression. My boyfriend's Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake was the better of the two desserts, while my seasonal peach tart was pleasant but not particularly memorable. Like the rest of the meal, both desserts were beautifully presented, but the flavors didn't leave a lasting impression. The service also lacked the attention to detail expected at a restaurant of this caliber. Our server never brushed the crumbs from our table between courses, and although I had clearly noted on our reservation that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, no one ever acknowledged it with a simple "Happy Birthday." We weren't expecting a complimentary dessert or special treatment, but recognizing a special occasion is a thoughtful touch that many fine-dining restaurants consistently provide. The atmosphere was also disappointing. I understand Telluride embraces a relaxed mountain culture, but guests were dining in flip-flops, which took away from what should have felt like a special-occasion dining experience. Even more concerning, the woman seated next to us was vaping inside the restaurant. It became bothersome enough that I finally got up and politely asked her to stop myself. I was surprised that the staff never noticed or addressed it. Guests should never have to intervene in that situation. Overall, we left feeling that we paid for the incredible location and views more than the food or service. The scenery is unquestionably five stars, but the dining experience simply didn't justify the price. Allred's has a five-star view, but in our experience, the food, service, and overall atmosphere fell well short of the reputation that brought us there.

We have dined at Michelin star restaurants and I know many reviews compare this restaurant with other Michelin star restaurants. I find this a bit unbelievable. The food had a couple of moments of brilliance, but the rest was simply average. We feel for the price, there are much better choices Telluride.
