I took my cousin's advice and stopped by Pho 75 for some pho. I've got to be honest, I've never really been a fan of pho, but this place completely changed my mind. The restaurant itself is a bit out of date. The seats and tables could definitely use an upgrade, but that didn't take away from how good the food was. I ordered a large #15, which came with pho noodles and brisket in broth. The flavor in the soup was incredible. Way more depth and richness than other pho spots I've been to. What really surprised me was how fast the food came out. I'm talking three minutes after placing my order, and it was hot and fresh. To drink, I went with one of the coconut drinks they offer. It was amazing. Easily the best pre-packed coconut drink I've ever had. It was sweet, refreshing, and had a piece of coconut inside that made it even better. What's this $2 charge on my receipt. The $1 charge makes sense because I ordered a large pho with no extras and no drink. I was coming here regularly from 2018 to 2023. I've never seen this charge before and there's nothing on the menu that suggests a $2 charge. I'll probably stay away and find a new pho place from now on. Pho 75 is located in a small shopping center right next to a laundry mat, the area may be considered Langley Park. Also be advised there is quite a bit of construction going on due to the implementation of the purple line. There are no automatic doors if you have accessibility concerns. Also, ITS CASH ONLY. When we walked in, no one greeted us and it was unclear on whether you seat yourself or walk up to the front and order, then grab a table. My friend walked up to the front at first while I grabbed a table but then a guy came and brought us menus. I don't even know why he bothered with a menu because he then proceeded to tell is there was only chicken or beef pho available. So I merely ordered and beef pho and patiently waited. The pho came out pretty quickly with all of the fixing you expect to come with pho. The pho was pretty good which I would hope since it was one of the few things being offered. Favorite pho place I've been to recently. Workers are great, we came around 30 minutes before closing, but they accommodated easily and food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. Ate at the original Pho75 in Langley Park and the broth was better then all the other Pho75s. Wife got the PhoTai and the piping hot broth cooking the rare beef gave it a more flavorful stock over time. And the place was probably the most run down out of all the Pho75s. Pho 75 features quick table turnaround and flavorful broth. The service here is super fast, with minimal "customer service" chit-chat and cash-only register payment. That being said, you know an Asian restaurant is going to be crazy good if those are the traits. Ok, so I was in the area and hungry. You know how you want something to eat, but you're unsure what you want. You just know that you don't want a burger, chicken, or any of the other usual options. I jumped on Yelp to see what was near by and decided on this location although there appears to be another Pho place with good reviews close by. When I arrived, I had no idea what I was supposed to do. There were lots of people seated at tables and a cashier desk in the back of the room. I didn't see a sign directing me to seat myself, so I walked up to the register. The guy that had been standing there promptly left. I was ok with it. It gave me time to look at the menu. He returned after waiting a few tables and I asked if I was supposed to seat myself if I wanted to eat there. He simply said yes, and turned and left. I found a spot in the corner and took a seat. I was fortunate because there were only one or two tables open at the time. A few moment later the guy came to check on me. He smiled and was a lot friendlier during this part of the interaction. He helped me with the menu and clarified my options. I went with the large Pho Chen and a lemonade. Within minute my food and drink were ready. Chopsticks were at the tables for all the things needed to spice up your pho, but I did have to go get a fork, which I ultimately didn't use since I used the experience to practice with the chopsticks. I've had Pho before, but it was really good here for some reason. I played around with the basil and the bean sprouts and the spices to taste, but my food was enjoyable. I even worked my way through some of the broth, which I don't usually do. When I finished, my meal came to a little more than $10, which was the cheapest I believe I've paid for Pho. Pho 75 is a very classic restaurent( to me) becuase they have been in businesses before i was born. This location particularly is alwasy super busy and a lot of time you have to wait although they have lots of table but gets full in no time. The pho is extremly good and tasty and that's the only thing they have on the menu. No other item simply its a pho restaurent but they are doing a good job. Oh, Pho 75 - what happened to you? For many years, I regarded this location in Hyattsville as the BEST in the entire DMV. The broth had that quality that made me start to salivate once I smelled the scents of star anise, stewed beef bones, and toasted cardamon pods. But the last couple of visits have been very sub-par. I can disregard the run-down mall, horrible traffic along University Blvd, and the somewhat questionable cleaniness standards which characterizes this particular Pho 75. However, I cannot forgive the ever dwindling amount of meat I've been receiving in my number 1 special, even in their large bowl. Seriously, during this most recent trip there were maybe seven pieces of the well done flank, a few slivers of the fatty brisket, but a whole lotta noodles and soup. One of my co-worker's always jokingly says to me when I have pho for lunch, "Have fun paying $8-$9 for a bowl of soup. I'm going to get a burrito from Chipotle for that much money." That's how I felt after I finished paying for my meal.
