We've come back many times, as Siam Thai continues to be our favorite nearby Thai spot. We usually come for an early dinner and have never had an issue just walking in. Our go-to dishes are the green curry and pad see ew with rib eye. The chive cakes are a hit with our kiddo. We've had the short rib curry and it was good, but could have had more short rib. The duck curry is also good. They are fairly kid-friendly. The staff are super nice and they have high chairs. They don't have paper or plastic cups or plates, so we usually bring our own. Thai food made right! I did a quick search to find a bite before going to the fields museum and came across Siam Thai, 100% within walking distance and honestly a really nice walk! I wasn't sure how busy they might be so I made reservations and was seated upon arrival, they were certainly busy but I feel walk in could have been possible for a weekend dinner time. Waters came out right away and greeted with a smile, our server was very knowledgeable about their menu and when asked for recommendations she was prepared! Very helpful for new comers! We ordered the lychee martini and an old fashioned and we were both pleased with our drinks, strong enough but well balanced For starters, we were suggested to try the Siam Platter so we could try out their different appetizers, hands down the money bag dumplings were the best! And the sweet vinegar sauce was a MUST! For my main entree I went with the Pad Kra Pao, keep in mind this does have some kick to it but it was so full of flavor! Ordered pad thai, pad see ew, papaya salad, green curry, mango sticky rice for delivery. Our group did not enjoy the pad thai, as it lacked flavor. The pad see ew was OK, a bit on the oily side. We ordered it with beef and the pieces of meat were pretty small. The green curry might have been the favorite. I usually love papaya salad, and while I loved the crunch this one had, it was not spicy at all. I'm used to papaya salad usually having a bit of a kick but this one didn't have any flavor. Mango sticky rice was solid, definitely recommend ordering more than one if you are sharing with more than one other person as it's a smaller portion. Elevated Thai food - everything was very delicious! My favorites were the moneybag dumplings, spicy ribeye basil, and the red curry. The restaurant was dimly lit with little table lamps. Very romantic I would say. There were a lot of families (it was Mother's Day when we went). The had a high chair for my toddler. The décor is so cute and it was fun to see a menu with some different options. A quick look at the menu made me realize that maybe I should eat something before going straight for the dessert so I ordered a thai iced tea and the appetizer sampler. We also had Thai tea and it was more tea than milk which is a good sign. My only complaints would be that you cannot adjust spice levels (or we weren't asked at least) and wish the soup was a little spicier. Easily five stars without hesitation. Siam Thai Eatery has such a great vibe. The space is really pretty, trendy, and feels like somewhere you actually want to hang out, not just grab food and leave. It was packed for lunch on a Tuesday, which honestly says everything about how popular and well-loved it is. Despite how busy it was, service was incredibly fast and friendly. What really blew me away was how insanely fast the food came out. For a place that busy, I was shocked at how quickly it arrived! I ordered the chicken pad kee mao and it was AMAZING. Perfect level of spice, tons of flavor, and every single bite was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the whole dish just worked. One of those plates where you keep saying "wow" halfway through. My group ordered cocktails and meals, and this was not an inexpensive dining experience. Unfortunately, my visit was overshadowed by the restaurant's poor customer service. After receiving my meal, I realized it wasn't something I enjoyed and politely asked if I could switch to another entrée. I wasn't asking for a free meal. I was fully prepared to order the replacement dish, which was only about $10 less than my original order, and I even offered to add a side to make up the difference. Despite this, I was told I would still be charged for the original entrée and would need to purchase an entirely separate meal if I wanted something else. What was most disappointing was the manager's attitude. Instead of professionally explaining the restaurant's policy, she made rude and dismissive comments, including that the food "doesn't have a refund policy and they don't sale food with a warranty" and that the dish had been on the menu since the restaurant first opened. Neither comment was relevant to my request and only made the interaction feel unnecessarily confrontational. I understand that restaurants have policies, but those policies can be communicated respectfully. The issue wasn't being told no, it was how the situation was handled. A little courtesy and professionalism would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a lasting negative impression and makes me hesitant to return. However, the dishes everyone else ordered were great and so were the cocktails. However, the service and how that situation was handled left a terrible impression. read more

I recommend getting the Siam Platter to try 4 different appetizers for only a $10 difference of the regular price of 1. The food came out very quickly, everything was fresh and hot. This place opened not too long ago. I went when they first opened as well as today! I don't think they've quite nailed the consistency of their foods yet. I've noticed the foods are slightly different as well as color of curry. For more context, there was quite a number of flies and unfortunately one landed in our curry crab dish. They remade it but I noticed the color of the curry dish was lighter & spicier than before. It was still pretty delicious despite the inconsistencies! The pad Thai was lacking flavor and leaned on the drier side. I was a little disappointed because I looove pad Thai. The papaya salad, on the other hand, was refreshing and citricy and packed with bold flavors. I highly recommend getting the Siam platter sampler. You get to try four different apps and lowkey filling too. I also enjoyed the mango sticky rice! One of my fav desserts of all times and this place has one of the best in Chicago. Came here the other day for dinner and had a good experience. We waited around 8 minutes for a table after our reservation, but we were served immediately. The inside was bustling when we came for a 6:30 dinner which was a good sign, and the interior is well decorated. I got the chicken pad Thai which was good, my sister got the ribeye basil and it was pretty spicy but a good dish also. Portions were huge, we had enough for leftovers. I visited Siam Thai Eatery on 03/04/2026 and was able to get a table without a reservation. The restaurant didn't seem very busy and we were seated right away, which was nice. We didn't order any alcoholic drinks, so this review is mainly about the food and service. To start, we ordered the soft shell crab mango salad. It came with a spicy lime dressing that tied everything together really well. The flavors were fresh, tangy, and a little spicy in a really good way. The soft shell crab was fried perfectly and had a great crispy texture that made the salad even better. For entrées, we ordered the Thai crispy chicken, which came with Thai sweet and spicy sauce, salad, and jasmine rice. The chicken had a really satisfying crunch and tasted great dipped in the sauce. We also ordered the crispy Khao Man Gai, which came with seasoned rice, cucumber, and radish soup. The radish soup was actually one of my favorite parts of the meal because it reminded me so much of the soup my mom used to make when I was growing up. It had that comforting, homey taste. I loved pairing the soup with the rice and honestly wish they offered the soup on its own because I would definitely order it. The chicken in this dish was fried perfectly as well. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. The service was prompt and the food came out pretty quickly. The bill was also very reasonable for the amount and quality of food we got. I've been back a couple of times now, (once for eat-in, once for carry-out), so it seems worth leaving an updated review. I think Siam Thai Eatery continues to shine on its more unique/special offerings. Most recently, we tried the Crab Curry with Roti, and it was scrumptious! The Crab and Pomelo Salad remains a favorite since our first visit, as do the Money Bag Dumplings, and I can't overstate how much I enjoyed the Duck Curry my first visit. All in all, it's still a great place to order a wide variety of dishes to share. That said, I found the noodles in the Pad Thai I recently had to be overcooked/broken, and the Roasted Organic Chicken was so overdone (guessing from roasting and reheating), that many pieces didn't have any discernible chicken meat left on them to eat. (It seemed we had a lot of cut up backbone pieces mixed in as well.) It is also a little tiring that we continue to be offered tiny plates with which to manage a number of appetizers and entrees. (We requested larger plates after all of the dishes arrived and got to about salad-sized plates.) One additional thing to note, the kitchen does seem to close well before the closing time identified on Google. We wanted to get some carryout on a Saturday night, and called ahead as we walked there to facilitate. We were told we had to get the order in immediately, even though it was still about ~40-45 minutes to close and we were approaching the front door of the restaurant. Upon entry, and seeing the restaurant about half full of diners, we were still pressured to forego a menu to complete the order. We got our food boxed and ready to go in about 5 minutes and were out the door, but honestly the experience was a bit frustrating. It would be good to make kitchen closing times more clear via online information if applicable. All of that said, I still think this is an objectively great Thai place, and a gem if you're in the neighborhood. Just some nits for improvement. read more
