I happen to stumble upon this place by accident. While waiting for my car a few shops down I noticed this cute cupcake sign. These cupcakes are so delicious and moist. The unique flavors they offer make them extra special. Had to get a half dozen to try out and share since there were so many variations to choose from. My daughter has a life threatening allergy to peanuts and this place is Nut-free! My step daughter is Gluten Free and they even have options for her! I had the Raspberry lemon and not only was it so cutely decorated it was just the right amount of sweetness and oh so flavorful. I will definitely be back to try more flavors. We love Sibby's; it's a great cupcake shop for special occasion cupcakes. The cupcakes themselves are moist and covered with the perfect amount of frosting (a lot of other cupcakes overdo it here). They've got a lot of tasty flavors. The main ways to get cupcakes from here: 1) order ahead of time for a party. They do a great job with custom decorations, including some video game icing artwork for one of my birthdays. 2) swing by the shop to see if they have any extras for sale. We used to do this if we were waiting in line at Ramen Dojo around the corner. Note that no one is allowed inside the shop, so if you try to do 2 you may not get to see what you're buying, but I promise that it's delicious. For this 2020 pandemic edition of our kids birthdays we've been ordering boxes of four and dropping them off at a small number of friends' houses. Sibby's is a purely a pre-order to go only place, no thrills type of bakery. Personally I love that I can peruse at my leisure online and simply pick up, but I get that some people like the cafe sit-down style. And since I often have my dog with me, it's no hassle. The goodies speak for themselves. For years now, I've been bringing in all different types of cupcakes around the Bay to impress the host of the Christmas party I always crash. THIS was the one that done it. The red velvet is to die for. I wouldn't sleep on any of the other flavors either. I was in the breakroom... with my eyes closed... moaning after each and every bite. You would have thought that something x-rated was going on back there but... nope. It was just me. Eating cupcakes. Sibby's cupcakes. Geezus. So, let's talk about these cupcake flavors because they're pretty wild. Chocolate tea cake and carrot cinnamon? I mean... just kill me NOW! The chocolate tea cake looks like a little hostess cupcake! So cute! The choco choco was a wonderful chocolate overload. I don't normally like double chocolate baked goods, but I just couldn't get enough of this once. Why are these cupcakes so damn MOIST?! My effing weakness! Yep, those cupcakes became my lunch that afternoon and I had no regrets about it. Bakeries like Sibby's make me so weak. Adding some new notes to my original review: + Customization art is awesome. For a dozen, you can choose a uniform design per six cupcakes. It costs $60. I've done the customization twice and each time all the patrons were enthralled. Highly recommend this option. + During the pandemic that began in March 2020, Sibby still offers cakes with curbside pick-up. Also they offer decorating kits with instructions online. Sibby's Cupcakes bring up lots of good memories: A quick trip before swimming lesson, a new business opening, 10th bday party.... So, after a meal at Gyukaku, hubby and I walked the grilled meat in our belly to Sibby. Got their Buttercream, Chocolate with Raspberry filling and Red Velvet. That first bite of sweetness was so satisfying. Their frosting is so creamy and surprisingly sooooo sweet. I dont remember being bothered by it, but today the sweetness of the frosting was overwhelming. Maybe because we cut sugar consumption by a lot for the past years. We had to scrape off the frosting. I wonder if any adults still consume this much sugar these days. Anyway, it's been almost 10 years since we visited Sibby's. Unfortunately, we wont be coming back in awhile. You can order their monthly mix of cupcakes preorder but otherwise their preorder is 6 of each flavor min. This is hard because I like a total mix up. We used Sibby's for our daughter's wedding reception. We got the 2" mini cupcakes. It was fun trying all of the flavors, every weekend we would buy a few more until the final choices were made. The whole family was in on the taste tests :-) We choose 5 different flavors, 12 dozen, and they all got rave reviews, especially the banana cream pie and the red velvet! I had them delivered to the venue, they were on time and the delivery person was so careful handling them and very nice too. Order ahead if you need a certain flavor, they run out early on Saturday mornings. Otherwise they have a chart outside showing what sizes and flavors they have by the minute. Very efficient. They even called to make sure I had stands to display them a few days before. (I did, I don't know if they rent display stands) I highly recommend them and will be getting more in the very near future. read more

Ordered Sibby's again this time for my brother's fiancé's wedding shower. What a lovely job they do with decorating and their wedding theme decorations are so cute. The flavors are so decadent and delicious. These are expensive, but compared to other cupcake specialty bakeries, Sibby's are worth the price, because or the quality and reliability of freshness, but ultimately these are intricately decorated and custom designed. Wow, what an amazing place. This Cupcakery is very close to the San Mateo Caltrain so it's a bit hidden, but totally worth a visit. My husband and I aren't usually cupcake fans, but the brightly colored outside decor drew us in. The inside of this establishment is really cute too, but generally functions as a baking kitchen so there aren't any tables to sit down and dine there. The atmosphere is really cool because you can see them baking and designing every mini cupcake and full-size cupcake before your eyes. The register is to the right, but their creations are visible as you enter. This establishment has a bunch of different flavors and varieties and even sells gluten-free cupcakes. On this trip, my husband and I tried two gluten-free options and two flour-based mini cupcakes. The flour-based cupcakes were grapefruit/passion fruit and raspberry chocolate. They were really good and matched the flavors described. The star of the show though were the gluten-free varieties. Each cupcake was succulent themed and came in two different flavor varieties: Vanilla bean with cream cheese icing or chocolate with chocolate icing or cream cheese icing. Both options were extremely moist, which is sometimes hard to do with gluten-free cupcakes. The succulent topping were so artistic and well-designed. I truly felt I was in a garden. I didn't go for the obvious Red Velvet or chocolate, but for a mystery flavor topped with a lavender flower with either salt or sugar crystals sprinkled on (it was salt!) I cut it in half & spied a caramel center. I hit the jackpot -- Salted Caramel -- yesss!!! Satisfyingly sweet & salty. Later, I took a forkful of what I (rightly) assumed was Lemon. Not enough tang to make me pucker up like I like, but clearly quality cake & frosting. I ordered about 90 cupcakes for a birthday party, and the customer service was terrific as I made different customizations and updated the order a few times. Once I picked up the order, someone helped me bring all the boxes to my car. The cute pink boxes were solidly structured and individually-held each of the cupcakes for a trip on the highway. I must admit calling in an order with 24 hours notice was cutting it tight with any bakery. But for Sibby's, they were super accommodating and friendly about it. I needed 24 mini cupcakes for the Exec Admin in our office and they had to have SJ Sharks logos. I ordered 12 in chocolate and 12 in vanilla. The total came up to $90 which was reasonable. Twenty-four hours later I came by the shop and picked up the cakes. Everyone in the office raved about the cakes and they made four different kind of decoration. One set had the Sharks logo, another set had a hockey stick, another set had jerseys with real player's numbers and a hockey puck. Very nice and very well done on such short notice. We weren't expecting Sibby's to be open for same-day pickup, but the process was surprisingly easy. You simply have to call in what you'd like, and it's ready for pick up in less than five minutes. The door is right next to the railroad tracks, and there isn't too much foot traffic. Sibby's also has circle markers on the pavement dictating six-foot distance, which was helpful. We got a gingerbread (December 2020 flavor of the month), Latte Love, and red velvet. The red velvet is always good: a classic. The gingerbread had a deep molasses flavor and was a even a little chewy on the inside, which was an interesting texture of a cupcake (though indicative of the name). Latte Love's flavor mainly came from the frosting, so the coffee flavor wasn't dispersed throughout the cake. Sibby's overall is a great, small place. Cupcakes are good but this was the weirdest purchasing experience I've ever had. They're not letting people into the shop right now so someone greets you at the door. So the girl comes out and tells us their menu hasn't been updated but she can tell us what once she has and then walks away. This was so confusing. Why tell a customer you'll list what you have and then walk away? Also if their menu hasn't been updated then how fresh are these cupcakes? They have all the cupcakes inside just sitting on a table, which also makes me question the freshness. However you can't see inside to see what ones they have, so how was I supposed to know what was available? Eventually the girl came back but still said nothing so I just started asking for random cupcakes on the menu. I really came for the seasonal Samoa cupcake but they only had one left. If you have a seasonal special why wouldn't you have enough in stock? Clearly it's popular. Sad. I used to love Sibby's Cupcakes. I recently visited and bought 3 different types of cupcakes. Sadly, the cupcakes were not fluffy. They were instead like a stale cake.
