I reached out about three weeks prior to my son's first bday after finding The Cake Shop on Yelp. Miguel was responsive by email. The whole transaction was seamless. I wanted a very simple baked cake, and they delivered. I sent Pinterest pictures of my theme and color scheme, and Miguel and his team met every expectation. Was really disappointed with the communication and overall first experience with The Cake Shop. A week ago, I submitted an inquiry on their site for a custom cake. Followed all their prompts and requests per their UI, and submitted with no word. Days later after calling to no avail earlier, I got a text message from the shop asking for all the same information already sent/submitted via their own website to a different email. Fine, I did as instructed, no follow-up for another day. Finally, after one more additional day, I get told that they're all booked up. Made no sense to either not to say that in the first place, or not respond to your own website's submission form. Lame, because their cakes are pretty from what's shown - but terrible execution in terms of customer service/communication. read more

What can I say about cake shop that hasn't been said before! They make your ideas become a reality! We found them on Yelp and ordered their cakes for my baby's first and second birthday! The first birthday was woodland theme and the cake was masterful! Got soooo many compliments on it! For the second birthday this year, we went with baby shark theme since she's been so obsessed and she was so delighted to see her cake. Her eyes lit up and she had the biggest smile! Ordered my son's custom cake from here. Miguel was very responsive via email. We had multiple back and forth regarding cake design and date of pick up but he was very flexible and professional. These rice cereal treats were delivered as a part of a birthday, so I can't give a review based on anything else aside from them. The rice cereal treats were for a class birthday, so half of the treats were made for boys and the other half for girls. Being such a simple treat, I thought they were beautifully decorated. They turned something simple into something amazing for the kids. Half of the treats were decorated as Minecraft characters. This worked perfectly for the square/rectangular shapes. The other half of the treats were mermaid themed. I was surprised how much detail could fit on such a small treat. The decorations/details of all the treats stayed on well until they were devoured by the kids. I didn't hear a single complaint about the flavor. Personally, I do not like sweets or chocolate. These treats were not too sweet at all and I could still taste the rice cereal treat well. read more

Make sure you know this location is not open! They do not sell treats in store and are open for 3 hours one day a week. Not sure if this is how it is and yelp and Google never updated or if this is new. Bummer, would have liked to try them. Just wanted to make people aware to not waste their time driving to location or expect to pick up single treats. Website stuff only, large quantity only it seems. Sorry to give it one star but I wasted my drive when it says it's open and pictures suggest you can purchase items there. read more

I had ordered a cake for my son's first birthday. I had inquired about pricing online and Paola and Miguel were very prompt to reply within 24 hours. Pricing was very reasonable for their cakes and treats. We ended up ordering a Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood themed 2-tiered cake along with 2 dozen rice krispy treats and chocolate covered pretzels in the same theme. Communication was great and on the day of our event, pickup was a breeze. Our cake turned out great and was exactly what we requested. If you email them a picture of what type of design you would like, they are great about getting back to you with a price! Which is kind of ironic, considering the name of this place! While nothing about the outside of Dessert Republic really stands out, the decor inside is great. It may not be all that flashy nor have much of an IG aesthetic, but I like how it has a Hong Kong/Chinatown alley sort of look to it. As for the menu, true to their name, there's no shortage of desserts to choose from, whether it be hot desserts, like glutinous rice balls, sweet tofu, or egg pudding, cold desserts, like mixed fruits, sago, or ice cream sundaes, egg puffs, and crepes. In addition, they also have a bunch of regular food options, from snacks and dim sum items, to rice plates, noodle soups, and even lomo saltado. -- (#A03) POPCORN CHICKEN Not terrible, but not popcorn chicken either. Rather, this felt more like the salt & pepper porkchop dishes I've had in the past - the batter was thick, the chicken was unmarinated, it was seasoned with just salt and pepper, and it was topped with cut peppers instead of crispy basil. -- (#S01) BRAISED BRISKET & WONTON NOODLE SOUP Overall, this was a mixed bag. Since I've clearly only had a small handful of what their menu has to offer, there's the distinct possibility (probability?) that I haven't had the best of what Dessert Republic has to offer. However, based on what I've ordered and my friends' egg puffs and sweet tofu that I've tried (both were fine), the desserts here definitely seem to be the safer bet overall. If I could give The Cake Shop 10 stars I would. The were very accommodating and were able to complete a wonderful creative last minute birthday cake in even though they were swamped. Everybody loved the themed capoeira themed cake nt only because of the creativity but because the vanilla cake was so light and fluffy and the blueberry filling was not overwhelming but perfect. I will be referring everyone I know to The Cake Shop and I will also be having them create several more cakes for upcoming events. Go to The Cake Shop! YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!! read more

They were able to execute my vision flawlessly . I wanted a double layer cake with flowers on it , the cake was delicious and the cream was super super yummy . They dropped it off at the restaurant and everything went super smoothly . I highly recommend simple delights if you are in need of a dessert vendor . I also tried there panna cotta when I was in store and it was so so good !!! Super creamy and fresh .

Consistency was like a regular cupcake, which is hard to find. My family enjoyed the regular treats. Parking can be a little tricky, but I found a spot around the corner. It's one guest at a time, so there was a short wait--but that just meant I had their full attention when ordering for myself. Will always stop in and grab treats when I'm in the area!

I mainly communicated with Anya on Instagram and from the beginning to the end (and after) Anya so wonderful to work with. My son's 1st birthday was extra special thanks to Anya's beautiful dessert table and cake. Even on the day of the event, Anya brought her wooden set up, set up all the dessert (worked well with other vendors too) without any issues. She had no questions for me, instead I went with all her recommendations. I was so stress free because I could see she knew what she was doing - Everything was perfect!
