Before ownership changed we would regularly come here about 1x a month and kept it consistent when changes happened. It was a rocky start at first but it smoothed out and the taste is exactly at the same tier when we first started. We found new items to add to our regular order and we love how this place has turned out. We see way more diverse families dining here and I see they expanded the menu to accommodate new customers that want to try something but be overwhelmed. I also noticed the usual groups coming in so it's a great balance between staying true to the authentic flavors while still being open to different taste palates. The hosts and waitresses are nice and don't make you feel uncomfortable when you don't know what to order just yet. They're helpful in answering questions without making you feel embarrassed. I also noticed they're attentive in how they seat their customers. Food overall has been great with the veggies in general. We always default to the boiled beef and end up using it to dip everything else into. We really like the tofu options and the dish with small lotus that are a little sour. Each dish comes out hot and they're generous in the bowl of rice they give you. I still plan on coming here regularly and my family still enjoys all the leftovers I bring home each time. read more

The chef recently added a Xinjiang/Uyghur chicken noodle which is my new favorite thing. The spice level is quite good with a light sweetness. The chicken wings here are insane. Half of the table prefers the spicy style and the other half prefers salted egg yolk. The fish is my other favorite. Doesn't matter if it's chili oil or pickled veggies. Always fire. The shrimp here is one of my favorites. Super crispy, spicy and juicy. Veggies are standard/quite good. I usually alternate between green beans, bokchoy and cabbage. The Chongqing noodles are surprisingly light in flavor with much less spice than I expected. Service can be hit or miss in terms of speed. There's often only 1 server so please be kind/patient! I had a hankering for some beef chow fun with black bean sauce. It didn't disappoint. I didn't spot any green bell peppers in the dish but the taste was still quite good. Came by for a Sunday brunch with a few friends! None of us had been here before so we were excited to try something new. We got there around 12pm and there were only a few other tables seated at that time. They sat us immediately and our group kept getting distracted while we were supposed to be looking at the menu to order. They were so kind and kept checking in with us to see what we wanted to order. We finally made up our minds and ordered a huge spread: Spicy Chonqing Beef Noodles, Green Beans, Scallion Pancake, Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken Wings, Golden Crispy Pork Spare Ribs, and the Xiao Long bao. The food came out so fast! In less than 20 minutes, we had every single dish that we ordered. My favorite dish was the Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken. The batter was light, very crispy, and seasoned to perfection. The chicken itself was juicy, piping hot, and kept me going back for more. The mala level in the Chonqing noodle dish was very beginner friendly. If you're looking for an intense numbing sensation with a "oh gosh maybe I should slow down" type of spice, you should ask them to make it more spicy. But, it was just the right level for me to be able to enjoy everything else with it as well. I always appreciate a family style restaurant, it makes it easier for people to try new things. I don't eat spicy foods, but somehow figured out i can handle the attached items. Salt&pepper pork cubes and flounder are always good! We get Ma Po tofu because some of us can handle the spice (we figured out day old is EVEN spicier (that's according to my husband!) The twice cooked bacon is good on day one, but too oily on day two! We've also tried the spicy fried shrimp and that was very good with the sauce a bit numbing. Some people say that the dish can be spicy, but when it's done right it can be flavorful! Our last visit the kitchen switched up the tofu and it was missing the expected Sechuan numbing. Today the waitress assured us we would have numbing in our Mapo Tofu. It was a little better. Meh, a bit. The main insult of today's visit was the Sizzling Beef. It was served hobo style on aluminum foil- I'm guessing probably to ease in washing the sizzling plate later. It has zero Sizzling. My friends--regulars at Sichuan Fusion long before this deal, were excited to share the news with us, so we stopped by for dinner on a Monday evening. Unlike many upscale dim sum spots or Chinese restaurants that charge a per-person fee for tea, hot tea here is complimentary, which was a nice touch. We came with a large group of eight, which gave us the perfect opportunity to sample a wide variety of dishes. With the 50% cash discount, we were able to order all of our favorites--and then some, without hesitation. If you're a fan of Sichuan peppercorns, the kind that give you that signature numbing, tingling sensation, you'll love the food here. The two dishes where the peppercorn flavor really shines are the Uyghur lamb and the Sichuan fish fillet with pickled mustard stew. If you enjoy bold, sour flavors, the fish stew is a must-try. Every spoonful delivers layers of flavor: first the numbing heat from the peppercorns, followed by a sharp hit of vinegar that wakes your palate right back up. You really need to try it yourself to understand this unique flavor profile. Outside of those, the lamb and fish dishes in general are excellent. We ordered the cumin lamb skewers, and they were on par with those from restaurants that specialize in skewers. The cumin flavor is very prominent, and the lamb is perfectly balanced between lean and fatty cuts--juicy, flavorful, and great in texture. For the salt and pepper flounder fillet, the pieces were cut noticeably larger than what I'm used to, and the seasoning was a bit more restrained compared to the versions you'd find at Hong Kong-style restaurants. I also wish the jalapeños brought a bit more heat to the dish. That said, the fish itself was tender and nicely fried--crispy on the outside without being greasy. Two other dishes I love ordering at Taiwanese restaurants are beef roll pancakes and braised beef shank appetizers. Both were available here, though slightly different than what I'm used to--which wasn't a bad thing at all. Instead of the usual hoisin sauce, julienned cucumber, and chopped cilantro trio of garnishes, the beef roll here was a green onion pancake filled with spicy beef from their combo dish. A different take, but still enjoyable. The fried rice here was also excellent. You can tell it was made using proper technique: day-old rice that separates cleanly, no sticky texture, and cooked over high heat to impart that signature wok hei flavor. Last but not least, we had to order the veggie dish everyone gets at a Chinese restaurant--dry-cooked green beans. We got a double portion for our group of eight, and it was just the right amount. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's a vegetable dish--it's anything but "healthy." The beans are deep-fried, but done so well that they're not greasy. The skin gets beautifully blistered, and the texture remains nice and crisp. I highly recommend checking out Sichuan Fusion while their 50% summer promotion is still running. How have I not written a review for this place! It is my favorite szechuan spot in the Bay Area. Have been going here for years and it is consistently delicious. My favorite dish is the chongqing style chili chicken with bone which is the perfect blend of crispy chicken (always fresh and made to order) with an addictive numbing peppercorn spice. Pair it with a bowl of steamed white rice and it's absolute perfection. If you only get one dish here, make it this one! Food is delicious. However, we will not be going back here and I suggest you do the same. This is the first time I seen someone open up the tab holder after it's signed and check the tip right then and there. Mind you TIP is optional and not mandatory. She proceeded with "you only gave a small tip and your son made such a big mess." I tipped $5 because for one I cleaned up everything that was on the table and that was on the chair. The rest of the mess was on the floor which can easily be swept. The service provided was not enough for me to give an 18% to 20% tip. Some of our food arrived after we were nearly done eating. She did not provide any other service other than bringing us our food and as a courtesy, I tipped $5 which I thought was reasonable. However, to start an argument with me because of how much I tipped was unreasonable. Tipping is not mandatory and has always been optional. We should not be tipping anyone for doing their job. If the customer service was excellent then yes, but you serving us our food isn't excellent customer service. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

Definitely change in ownership and different chefs. It does not taste like it used to. I have eaten here for almost 15 years so I know what it should taste like. I am quite sad the spicy boiling fish is no longer the best. They used to use A-Choy vegetables as the base but now they use cabbage. The sauce/ soup used to be thicker and super flavorful with fried garlic on top. The soup is now a thin sauce with no fried garlic. The soup is supposed to be the essence of the whole dish and when they get it wrong, it does not taste as good . I ate here with my mom a few weeks ago. I paid with a credit card and gave a cash tip of $10. I just noticed they charged my credit card an extra $3.00. Sizzling black pepper platter was differnt from the cantonese version and had tasty mushrooms swell. The spicy beef stew was perfect and was my favorite dish. The tofu fried to perfection and soft & silky inside. We agreed to try item we had never had before and the twice cooked pork bacon and crispy noodle chicken were two of those items. The pork was very flavorful with the perfect heat level, and the crispy noodles under the layer of delicious chicken, mushrooms and fresh Vegis lent the perfect texture. The chive turnover was a fun dish. Our server, and everyone at the was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Under new ownership. Not nearly as good. All our favorites are prepared differently now and the Szechuan flavors of mala are lacking. There is a lack of consistency in the way dishes are prepared from one visit to the next. The atmosphere is louder, the owners are not as friendly and have small children running around making noise. Unassumingly hidden in the back of the ranch 99 food court, this is probably one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. We randomly decided to eat lunch here one day and were both so pleasantly surprised. The service was nice and the food came out relatively quickly. We definitely over ordered but everything was so delicious. Portions were also huge so we had lots of leftovers. I love salted egg yolk anything and the pumpkin dish was perfect. You can tell this is legit because it was swarmed by Chinese folks. The restaurant is inside the Pacific Mall towards the back of the building, close to Ranch 99 Market. I love the ribs, my friend did not enjoy it because it was more bones than meat. Expectation did not match. On the other hand, I loved it, on the salty side though, but if eaten with noodles or rice, it gets balanced. The chow function was a let down. I've had better. It was lacking meat, I did love the smell and taste of the wok though. So if you don't mind not getting enough meat, it's good. Service: I'm not sure how to say it but for every table that finished their meal, they were offered either ice cream or Chinese donuts, but we were not. Sichuan Fusion is a neighbourhood staple! I've been coming here regularly for dine-in and takeout since 2017 and will continue to eat here so long as I live in the Bay Area. It's one of my favourite restaurants in the East Bay. Every dish I've had here has been amazing. My must-trys are the baby lotus root with beef, Sichuan fish filet with pickled mustard soup, Chongqing chili chicken (need to get it with bone!), garlic eggplant, and Uyghur style sautéed lamb.
