Getting really tasty Chinese food is even harder. Szechuan Chinese Cuisine in Vallejo has bold, intense, and complex flavors. Originating from the Sichuan province of China, Sichuan food combines fiery red chilies with the signature Sichuan peppercorn which produces a unique, tingling buzz on the lips and tongue. Whether the food here is authentic Sichuan cuisine, I don't know because I've never been to China. However, the food here has all the flavours that satisfies my tummy: fragrant, hot, salty, sweet, aromatic, deep umami flavours defined by cooking on very hot stove. The service here is excellent and nearly all the dishes were well thought out. They offer deeply layered dishes that goes far beyond simple heat. The only dish that did not satisfy me fully was the pork chop. I just couldn't sink my teeth in it, but the flavours sure are prominent. Overall, this is a place worth visiting. This eatery looks clean and well maintained. I took a peek in the kitchen and everything seem to have its place. Emily was our server. She's a delightful lady with positive energy. I really like this spot. It is a solid staple for Chinese food in the area. I also love the traditional decor inside. Service is friendly and efficient. Their lunch specials are available every day (including weekends) so they are my go to. Each special comes with the soup of the day, an egg roll, and your choice of fried rice or chow mein. I usually order the kung pao chicken, but I have also tried the cashew chicken and the three delicacies (beef, shrimp, and chicken) which are also great. The portions are very generous, and I usually have enough leftovers for a second meal. Overall, a great local spot with good value and consistently satisfying food! read more

I was in town visiting a friend and decided to grab dinner here as it's her families go-to spot. The menu was extensive, offering lunch time deals, dinner deals, and a la carte items all served family style. We did the family dinner package for 3 people (granted 1 was a child), and there was enough food for 6 people. The portions are huge, full of flavor and quality products. We opted for hot tea and water instead of drinks, and the service was on par with a restaurant of this size. Our chow mein did take longer than the other items to come out, but it was scorching hot when it came out so we know they were making it fresh. I think the chow mein was my favorite dish, and there was plenty left over. The restaurant had a few tables full, but the noise wasnt loud and we were able to have a good conversation. There also was a constant rotation of food delivery drivers so I can only assume this place is just as good for take out as it was for dinning in. read more

I honestly have never physically been to the restaurant, but I have doordashed multiple meals from them, and they are always so consistent. I usually get their veggie fried rice or chow mein, one of their bean curd dishes (either dry fried or with veggies), and sweet and sour pork for my husband. I recently ordered their dry fried chicken wings and they were pretty good! I wish they were a little more seasoned, but the added onions and green onions kind of made up for it. I can't speak much for their service since I've never dined in, but they always package their to-go orders super secure, making sure to leave holes in the containers of fried items so they don't go soggy. It was the same staff for YEARS and up until recent I think they had some changes, food is still great though. Not as friendly as I remember so it's more of a take-out spot for me. This place serves authentic Chinese cuisine--very delicious, very affordable, and very nostalgic. Customer service was great, too. My family and I ordered the following: - Fried Egg Rolls and Wonton - A classic appetizer. Loved the crispiness, though the fried wontons seemed a bit burnt. - Egg Drop Soup - Also a classic--very warm and soothing. Unlike other egg drop soups, this one had so many more ingredients, which I appreciated. - Vegetarian Delight - This dish didn't look very appetizing, but it was surprisingly full of flavor. Definitely a highlight on their menu. - Sweet and Sour Chicken - Enjoyed the balance of tangy and umami flavors. The chicken was drenched in sauce but still very crispy. - Beef Fried Rice - I wish we had ordered two because this was my favorite! Rich in flavor--I could eat this by itself. 8 June 2024 So the wife wanted to go out to lunch and I wanted to stay home and read John Stuart Mills 'On Liberty.' The restaurant is unassuming on the outside. We entered and were seated dismissively. Our table with a backward placement and a bit of another customer's rice. The place was almost empty when we arrived but two other tables were soon seated. The vinyl seat cushions are old and I need to squirm a bit to relax my tailbone. Soon, one seated genius starts playing cartoons on his phone? Are you kidding me? My wife shakes her head in disbelief because I always have bad luck like this. Next, genius number two turns up the volume on his electronic best friend. I remind my wife of an old saying of mine. "Go to a dollar establishment and you eat with dollar people." Some have no consideration for other customers. Food arrives and it is pretty tasty. Wife is Happy with the price and the taste. Several more customers enter and the place is half full. Some of these are greeted as regulars. The front window with decades of scotch tape needs a good scraping and some squeegee love. The bill is low and food is good so we might stop by again, now that we know what to expect and what we're paying for. The fortune cookie sets an interesting tone for me out the door. read more

Or last couple of orders from here haven't been great, but we thought we'd try again, big mistake. We ordered 2 items: Hunan Chicken and Szechuan Chicken Drumsticks, both were disappointing. Hunan Chicken: We requested the sauce on the side, again, to keep the chicken crispy, and like before, they failed to do it. The bottom of the box looked like a soaked-up mess, and very little sauce made it on the chicken. Plus, the sauce just doesn't taste the same. Szechuan Chicken Drumsticks: If you ask me to compare it to 3 Star's garlic wings, you just can't. The battered coating is heavy, they weren't crispy, and the chicken was dry! They almost tasted like they were made yesterday and refried today. Never doing take-out from here again. If anything, we'll try lunch, and if that fails, it just proves that they aren't the restaurant they used to be! read more

The best soup in the world is wor won ton and hot and sour soup. They have great dinner specials. Service is great they pour your soup in your bowls and even help with packing your food to go. Restaurant does need some TLC and needs to be updated. read more

I called Grub Hub while visiting my family so I can't say much about anything but the food. I loved the food! The Mongolian beef was excellent! There were lots of green peppers and beef and onions but they didn't overpower the beef flavor. The chow mein had plenty of pork and other things all melted into the noodles. It was a light flavor, not heavy with the oil it was cooked in. The ribs really surprised me. I expected the same old 4 pieces of ribs. Instead I received a box that had about 20-25 pieces of ribs that were about an inch long. They were tender and juicy and just the right size. They did have a bone so be careful. I will be back on my next visit. I will visit often. read more

I've been eating at Szechuan for over 20 years, and it's still my go-to spot even though I go more occasionally now. While ownership changed within the past six years or so, the food tastes mostly the same, which I really appreciate. The biggest change has been the service; the previous owners were incredibly warm and welcoming and even got to know my family, whereas now the service feels busier and less personal. That said, I would still recommend the food without hesitation. In my opinion, they have the best chow mein, the noodles are thinner than at most places, and both the chow mein and rice are always solid. I don't eat seafood, so I was glad to find honey walnut chicken here instead of the more common honey walnut prawns. Despite the changes, this is still a reliable place I return to for the food. read more

Ended up with two combo lunch plates, one with fried rice, sweet & sour pork and sesame chicken and the other with fried rice, sweet & sour pork and kung pau chicken. We split a pork chow mein. They have a family dinner menu, which is what we ordered comes with soup and an appetizer and four entrées, white rice and it was like $17 a person pretty good deal.. We ordered Sesame chicken, sweet-and-sour pork, Mongolian beef, chicken chow mein and then I added an extra entrée Empress I believe . From the food from the where 2 to 4 on the average, something were really good the chow mein and have any color to it so very little seasoning no soy sauce so I don't know what other seasoning you put in there, but didn't have it. my husband did not care for sweet-and-sour Park is actually still in the refrigerator three days later. For the price I paid, both the fried rice and chow main should have been served in a styrofoam to go plate instead of the small square take out ones. The sweet and sour pork was the only thing that had any flavor to it. I would say if you wanted healthy Chinese take out or something you could season at home this would be the place to order it from. We ordered take out from this place. 5 star! Delicious Hong Kong style chow mein and their spicy chicken wings are to die for! They give 10 huge pieces of the chicken wings and they are seriously amazing. Great spices and fried to perfection. Highly recommended! We will definitely support this local gem again. The manager just lost a customer over some $13 combo rice unfortunately. I knew the combo rice came with pork but I thought it was the bbq pork that some Chinese restaurants put in the combo rice not the slimy pork that is cooked and cut up like chicken. It was gross on the first bite. I've been coming here for a while because it's close but normally get a couple other dishes that are just OK, mid, nothing special so now I will take my money elsewhere after this. The rice wasn't good with that pork and he wouldn't do anything about it and as a manager I felt like he should have. This place is pretty expensive anyways and I use to spend quite a bit on the honey walnut shrimp, chow mein but now with this poor customer service I'm done with this place. read more

Called on a Thursday to make a dinner reservation for the upcoming Saturday - had spoken with the manager to make this reservation. Was told that there was another big party coming but they would be able to stick two tables together for us to accommodate which was fine. Arrived on Saturday and the person we talked to was very confused and it looked like another party had been placed at our table. They offered to sit us in some booths but we were split up which defeated the purpose of the dinner. Last straw was that my dad was unable to fit in the booth comfortably. Staff was visibly arguing with one another probably due to the mix up. Ended up leaving to another local Chinese restaurant. I don't plan to come back here.
