Hot tea
Lani H.

I was looking for some good chow fun in El Cerrito and I found it! So good, it's on and crackin! The crab fried rice is also excellent. So fragrant and both are cooked just right. The meat chow fun comes with shrimp, beef, chicken, pork, onions, bean sprouts, and it is not extra greasy like some places I've ordered from. And look at the teapot! So beautiful and big (that I like because I am a tea-a-holic). I was hesitant to even post a review because I wanted to keep this gem to myself but I am not selfish Tasty it is for sure! Yes and the service was just right, lots of space and good parking. I will be visiting this place on the regular.

Sichuan food is one of our favorite cuisine. The numbing spice is absolutely addictive. We saw this place popped up so we wanted to give it a try. The place is nice and newly renovated; we were the one of two tables here since it's only 11:30 or so on a very rainy Sunday. The had high chairs and nice spacious seating so we are happy. We sat down and started looking at the menu - couldn't help smelling the amazing aroma from the other table. It was a delicious looking dry hot pot. So we followed suit and ordered one with beef slices, fatty beef, pork belly, bok choy, king oyster mushroom, and tofu sheet. The portion was very healthy and it was YUMMY. We also got mapo tofu as a benchmark and some dumplings for the babe. The mapo tofu was really good with a thick umami sauce that goes so well with rice. The dumplings were very flavorful too. We enjoyed everything we've tried. Cannot wait to try other dishes here! We may have found a new place to satisfy our sichuan cravings...

A very pleasant experience. Honey baby was really attentive and we enjoyed everything we ordered

Lamb with Cumin

I have family in the area and Tasty Sichuan is an exciting addition to the neighborhood. Occupying the same space of several prior Chinese restaurants, this new endeavor with new ownership delivers tasty (hence the name), authentic, and quality Sichuan dishes. As for the food, I ordered the Lamb with Cumin, which was a different take from any cumin type lamb I've had in the Bay Area. The bite sized pieces were fried, and it was oh so tender and flavorful. The massive amount of dried chilies added to the rich smoky flavors, yet not overly spicy and very palatable. Next was the Eggplant with Garlic. Huge generous portions of soft eggplant, not overly sauced and cooked just right. I will come back without hesitation and try more dishes!

Well we ate the vegetables fried spring rolls before the photo. Food was hot and freshly made. Good Ingredients. We ordered the chow fun with shrimp, beef noodle soup and the Walnut Shrimp.

Noticed the banners outside and not sure what I wanted to eat. Decided not to eat at a established chain and came here. The restaurant was empty but very clean and not as warm as I expected it to be even though it was a warm day. Typical menu with American Chinese food as well. Wanted something I've never had before and ordered pork and chive dumpling and chili fried chicken. The dumplings looked homemade and the made on the spot, not out of the bag. I was warned that the chili fried chicken was going to be spicy, but it was not as spicy as I thought.

This QIAO-JIAO beef hot pot soup is really good! (蹺腳牛肉湯/牛雜湯) It's light and naturally sweet, tasting very much like the flavor I remember having in Taiwan. Moreover, the owner is very thoughtful; they even asked us if we liked it and seemed worried about not getting it right. But surprisingly, I loved it!!!! this is the exact flavor I've been searching for. In addition, I highly recommend the stir-fried shredded mixed mushrooms (炒雜菌香菇). It's not too salty, but incredibly fragrant and perfect with rice, which made me finish the entire bowl. The menu also features Szechuan pickled glass fish fillets(酸菜皖魚); it's not fishy at all and has a great crunchy texture, it's a very unique taste. Eating here feels like coming home, and the service is also very comfortable. This is a newly opened shop, and as a picky Taiwanese person, I approve! Finally, I got an order of stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp (米粉炒蝦) to take away. If you love garlic flavor, this will absolutely be your new favorite!

Drove in the pouring rain to get lots of food. 2 containers of the chicken corn soup (it's amazing!)... lunch, dinner, lunch!

The Sichuan Boiled Fish (水煮魚) is sooooo well made!

It was my first time at Tasty Sichuan. Very impressed! Was so yummy that I bought bunch of to go's to take home. Will for sure come back to try other dishes.

Great Szechuan food. Excellent taste and very interesting menu. Since China village on solano has gone down hill post Covid this place replaced some of the good flavors like that fish soup, green beans, and xinjiang chicken noodles. Service is good. Favorite was the winter melon soup and smashed garlic cucumber salad.

Five entrees plus sides

Very pleasant staff. Our family ordered five takeout entrees and enjoyed most. Huge menu. Highly recommend the honey walnut prawns, kung pao chicken and beef with green beans. Our group was not fond of the garlic crab meat fried rice. Overall would recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is very clean and nicely renovated! The Menu # E2 Boiled Fish Bowl was very very very Excellent!!!! The portions are huge and tastes like someone cared a lot about making this dish. We had Scallion Pancakes which were crispy and delightful and not too greasy! The Chive dumplings were also wonderful and yummy. The Baked Shrimp dish with vermicelli noodles was something I have never tried before and was a very pleasant surprise. It was very fresh and flavorful. This is a hidden gem!!! This is now my local go to place.

Half of the table prefers the spicy style and the other half prefers salted egg yolk. The fish is my other favorite. Doesn't matter if it's chili oil or pickled veggies. Always fire. The shrimp here is one of my favorites. Super crispy, spicy and juicy. Veggies are standard/quite good. I usually alternate between green beans, bokchoy and cabbage. The Chongqing noodles are surprisingly light in flavor with much less spice than I expected. Service can be hit or miss in terms of speed. There's often only 1 server so please be kind/patient! We got there around 12pm and there were only a few other tables seated at that time. They sat us immediately and our group kept getting distracted while we were supposed to be looking at the menu to order. They were so kind and kept checking in with us to see what we wanted to order. We finally made up our minds and ordered a huge spread: Spicy Chonqing Beef Noodles, Green Beans, Scallion Pancake, Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken Wings, Golden Crispy Pork Spare Ribs, and the Xiao Long bao. The food came out so fast! In less than 20 minutes, we had every single dish that we ordered. My favorite dish was the Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken. The batter was light, very crispy, and seasoned to perfection. The chicken itself was juicy, piping hot, and kept me going back for more. The mala level in the Chonqing noodle dish was very beginner friendly. If you're looking for an intense numbing sensation with a "oh gosh maybe I should slow down" type of spice, you should ask them to make it more spicy. But, it was just the right level for me to be able to enjoy everything else with it as well. I always appreciate a family style restaurant, it makes it easier for people to try new things. I will definitely be back and bringing all of my friends and family.

Tonight I was craving good local chinese food and decided to give this place another try. I don't know why. I always felt bad with each previous sad serving. It was terrific! The order was ready on time. The containers were bulging with food when before the servings were getting skimpier and skimpier. The chow fun was not swimming in oil. The cumin lamb was no longer 90% peppers but a generous portion of lamb and a good ratio of peppers. The crispy chicken appetizer was delightful. The dry green beans had a snap. It was such a complete reversal from the last experiences that I'm glad I went back and we will certainly continue to satisfy our Szechuan cravings with this place. I had braced myself expecting in these dire times with many food places closing or gasping with high costs, a less than stellar experience. What a wonderful surprise!

Good spice level and lots of hot chili oil. The dish we always get when we go - D08 Glutinous Rice Ball. Start with tangyuan (gooey mochi balls filled with black sesame), deep fry them, and cover them with chili oil and spices. It covers almost all the tastes and textures (sweet, salty, spicy, fried exterior, gooey/chewy, with a liquidy filling). Only a mad genius could have come up with this dish and it works brilliantly. The rest of our dishes vary a bit each time we go, but it's usually some spicy dishes and at least a veggie dish. Really haven't had complaints on the food. A few watchouts - the parking lot next to the restaurant is not theirs. Street parking only. They also charge a nominal fee for takeout containers ($0.25/box) and a bag ($0.10/

We are the only customer when we arrived. Very pleasant not overpowering jazz mood music plays. Our server has a very pleasant demeanor. We have Taiwan beef noodle soup. Nice and hot the way it should be. Perfect to my tongue textures of the beef cubes and egg noodles. The beef broth was amazing. At the end of our meal I was full. Too full to the point that I almost cried that I couldn't drink the last gulps but it was too small a portion to warrant taking home. Our Kung Pao chicken? Delicious. Chock full of chicken bites and delicious vegetables. Somehow the plentiful peanuts set my taste buds acraving. Wow wow Pao tasty. The only miss with this was that it was brought to us on a coldish serving plate. A common mistake. We didn't get to try this dish hot. We are now wanting our bill. Seems like long time wanting. To our dismay, our friendly server got herself enmeshed in an on again off again conversation with someone at another table shortly after we arrived. Then she disappeared for a while. We are tempted to guess the bill amount (turns out we guessed wrong by $1), leave cash on the table and walk out. Instead I get up and she appears at the register. Magic. We pay proper like and walk out respectfully. I wouldn't mind coming back.
