I went to Sicily on Saturday and Mon with different groups of people . I had the eggplant parmigiana pizza different but good we also tried the gelato and the lemon blueberry cake . Came out to meet up w friends to listen to a band. I've never been to this location and I wanted to order the right drink and food. They have a huge dining room down on the 1st floor and a bar, an upstairs piano bar, a second upstairs lounge with music space and a downstairs function room and it all looks amazing. We sat upstairs to listen to the band. I started off by ordering a small dish and drink. I went with the Polpetti- Meatball, Tomato Sauce, Whipped Ricotta and Focaccia Bread. Which was out of this world. Along with the a mocha crunch martini which was a recommendation from the waiter and I was not impressed by it. The others got the appetizer of the artichoke dish. We eventually moved our way over the Wine Bar that's attached to Sicily and really liked the wine area as it's quieter and have huge wine glasses they use. The bartender was very nice. It's great to be able to just walk up a couple of steps to another part of the restaurant. There is a speak easy bar down stairs but they had a party going on and wasn't able to check it out. It's definitely a higher scale of drinks and they have a wonderful display of the wine bottles in the display. One of the my top favorite pizza places in Connecticut! The pizza here is amazing. The service is always fast and friendly. Drinks are great. The 1911 hard cider is my favorite here on tap. On my last visit here I ordered the Margherita pizza for $17.00 it was made with San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella & Basil, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Sicilian EVOO. It was delicious. Went to Sicily Coal Fire Pizza with coworkers after drinks to keep the vibes going following a farewell dinner. The service was okay nothing standout, but not bad either. While we were there, the liquor authority/health department came in to do an inspection, which was honestly a little scary at first since we didn't know what was happening. It definitely disrupted the atmosphere for a bit. That said, the pizza itself was good and worth trying. Overall, a decent experience with an unexpected twist. Drinks were my favorite part. Rude managers that love to waste your time and DISGUSTING kitchen habits. The kitchens were very dirty and grimy and it seemed shockingly normal to grab bread with bare hands. No gloves, no washing, no tongs. Nothing. I was instructed to grab and box some slices of bread for takeout after I'd been touching menus, tables, chairs, dirty dishes, doorknobs, etc. When I asked where I could wash my hands, I was looked at like I was crazy for trying to handle CUSTOMER FOOD with clean hands. You are eating bread thats been touched with the same hands that held DIRTY menu screens. Additionally, the pizza dough was left uncovered, risking the chance of hair or other stray debris to fall into the open dough, which was already too close to the floor for my liking. From the sublime to the ridiculous however: Coal-fired wings were again the best I have ever had and the size of the app was great as were the caramelized onions. The Sicilian Pizza was so overcooked that you couldn't even cut through to get a slice. The sauce was good if scanty and the meatballs were good. 3.5 stars for me. We came back in March on a night Timmy Maia was playing upstairs. We had a reservation and upon arrival had to wait by the entrance. We wanted to sit in the wine room that's off to the left, as the main restaurant when you first walk in is a bit casual. Better for customers wanting a casual dinner. Nice that they have that and also a more formal area in the wine room. Moving on, the hostess brought us to our table in the wine room and I felt the setup to be a bit strange. Before you take a left into the room, you have to walk by a service area. Not what you want to see before having dinner. Guests shouldn't have to walk by that. Poor design. I will say though the actual room is beautifully decorated. As far as the food, the portions are huge. I got the Harvest Apple salad. Nice presentation how they separate each ingredient in the salad. Delicious. Dressing fabulous too. Boyfriend got the bolognese. Massive. He enjoyed as well. They have really nice wine glasses (also quite large) and a nice wine list as well. We then went upstairs for the band. Nice space. Someone ordered the espresso martini and it must be the Grande Espresso Martini for Two? Not sure however I snapped a picture. MASSIVE! We had a nice evening. The only thing I'd say is try and figure out how to reconfigure the setup in the entrance of the wine room. A friend suggested we have lunch at Sicily in Middletown on a Friday afternoon. I had never been so I said sure, but when I saw coal fired pizza, I hesitated. I have Celiac and am GF. A quick review showed lots of options so off we went. The place was very modern, clean with a sophisticated not pizza place vibe. It was hopping for a Friday afternoon. We were seated in the rear of the restaurant near the open kitchen. It was actually quieter there and we were able to have a great conversation. The menu was incredible. So many interesting and unique salad options, a wide selection of entrees and so many pizza options both GF and standard. I chose the lamb chops with a salad. They were perfectly cooked with frisée and fennel salad topped with pomegranate and radish and a siracha aioli. It was good. But not great. I enjoyed it but probably would try something else. My friend had a harvest salad with grilled shrimp. She said the shrimp were crisp on the outside without being dry and had excellent flavor. The salad was huge so she took at least 1/2 home. We were full but who can refuse deconstructed cannoli. To afford my GF needs the cannoli and biscotti bits were served on the side. The filling was delicious. Not overly sweet without being even fresh fruit nested in the center. We split it and still took 1/3 home. I was there the week of August 0th with a large party. 8-10 of us. One person ordered an old fashioned and the waitress delivered it. I thought it was strange because I had a short straw in it. She soon came back over the table and asked the person if they aren't already taken a sip of their cocktail. The individual said no they hadn't tried it yet. She explained that the wrong cocktail was delivered and she would bring over the correct cocktail. I watched her remove the cocktail and bring it back to the bar mind you my seat was 3 feet away from the bar. She continued to place her fingers inside the drink and remove any fruit that was in there and threw away the straw, she redressed the cocktail and delivered it to the correct customer. We recently ate on the patio at Sicily. We really enjoyed the view of Main Street. Zaben, our server, was super friendly and made some great food suggestions. He also explained they are a scratch kitchen which meant everything was made fresh. It definitely came through in the flavor and quality. We started with small plates. The Boubon Steak Tips ($23) were flavorful and well cooked. The whipped ricotta ($19) was a table favorite! So tasty! We finished with a craft pizza, the eggplant parmigiana ($22). The wine room was very chique- piano music was nice but may be a little loud if sitting close to it. We went for the half price wine bottle/ cheese board Wednesdays and they also had good happy hour deals until 6pm for both drinks and food. All the food was delicious. Pleasantly surprised by how fancy the cheese board was though so crackers would be nice for the array of jams/ honey to go with the cheese. So disappointed. We been here many times. My brother in law accompanied us tonight at the bar to watch the England/ Argentina game. I ordered the $19 "Crispy brie" . I expected brie baked in pastry dough. I asked if it came with something to spread the brie on. She said no. So I asked for pita type bread. She brought 3 burnt Italian pieced of toast. So I pointed to another patrons plate and said that I wanted those. She the brought plain pizza pieces. My bill had another 5 bucks added for that. Lol. Anyway, it was horrible. That wasn't brie. I have no idea what it was. A breaded piece of cheddar or something Luke warm, not creamy. It was covered in a super sugary vomit colored baby food with tons of cinnamon. I scrapped all the sugar puree off and attempted to eat. Couldn't do it. Inedible. I told the tender, she threw it away and agreed that cinnamon doesn't go with cheese. Charged me the whole shebang for that pos app. $24 bucks. My bro in laws pizza was blacker than black. I showed a second tender. He said he would have never served that. $120. Never ever, going back. When in Middletown, Sicily is worth a visit, especially if Timmy Maia is performing. Get the YOLO pizza. Food: The truffle potato wedges with Parmesan garlic aïoli were the absolute highlight. I wish I had a picture of the YOLO pizza. It was so good the men at the next table were drooling. Drinks: Huge beer selections. 7/10 espresso martini. Service: All hits, no misses. Pathetic, and I will not be ordering again. I initially ordered their large apple salad while at the restaurant, and it was amazing. Every time since then, four times in total, I've received worse and worse results. The salad costs $24.00 for a bunch of lettuce, walnuts, cheese, and cranberries. First the good news. The pizza we had a few weeks ago as takeout was amazing-very flavorful. Based on our pizza experience we decided to go for a sit down meal. The atmosphere is modern and upbeat. That's the end of the good. We had to wait to be waited on but got to watch while people seated after us were helped. When our server did show up she didn't really seem to care. She did however spend a lot of time hanging out by the cash register talking. I ordered the Sunday sauce advertised with sausage and a meatball. Sunday sauce evokes images of a slow simmering day long sauce with a rich deep flavor. This had little flavor actually and the pasta didn't even make it to the al dente stage. While everyone else seemed to get bread when seated we had to ask a couple of times for bland bread - no olive oil nothing. This was in no way worth the $35 dollars they charged. We went on a Thursday night and they were busy so I doubt they'll miss us but we won't be back. read more

I've come to Sicily on numerous occasions since they opened. The first couple of visits were decent and I had high hopes that Sicily would become a go-to spot, but it just never panned out. Over the past 2 years the service & food quality has been in steady decline. My most recent visit was inexcusable and I won't return. We decided to visit for "reverse happy hour" as an alternative from our usual thirsday night visit to Esca. We had Michael for our server and sat upstairs in the lounge. We were brought menus as we were sat and we ordered drinks to start, but weren't sure on food yet. Our server then proceeded to visit our table 4 times over the next 15 minutes to ask if we wanted to place a food order. It felt rushed. The vibe : awkward. The music was so loud I couldn't hear my server, my date or anything else besides the droning voice of Amy Grey. She had no spacial awareness and didn't know when to shut up. Incessantly talking over every song and not realizing that a bar gig is inherently different from the radio. The food : mediocre. We ordered steak frites from the happy hour menu which noted that the steak was "marinated". The 4 piece of tepid steak that came to our table were covered in this cloyingly sweet sauce that tainted the entire dish. Since the steak was served atop the fries, this sauce caused the fries (straight from the Sysco box) to become soggy and absorb the sauce which made the fries not so appetizing. We followed that up with a Cheese Pizza which was pretty good. The pizza here is their saving grace, and this place would do much better as just a slice shop. The drinks : abysmal. I started with a Skittles fruited sour from Transcend Brewery that Sicily had on tap. I was excited because it's rare to find their beer on tap outside of the brewery. It was served in the wrong glass. The F&B manager at Sicily needs to do a better job at making sure the bar is properly serving drinks. Teku glasses are essential for fruited sours. It didn't taste the same as it did in the brewery, however, for $6 I decided to just chalk it up to inexperience. I followed the beer with a Paloma, which was advertised as $5 for happy hour. When I ordered from my server I pointed at the menu showing the tequila listed for $5. As soon as I tasted the drink that was brought to me, i knew it was way off. I asked my server to ask the bartender what was in the drink because it didn't taste right. He told me that the bartender said "grapefruit juice", which is not the proper mixer for a Paloma. A Paloma only has 3 ingredients - Grapefruit Soda (Squirt or Jarritos are acceptable), Tequila & Lime Juice - it's a very simple cocktail. If you didn't have grapefruit soda, which is the main ingredient in the drink, just tell me that... I would have picked something else. The service : Impersonal & rushed. When i sent back the drink, the affect of our server visibly changed, almost as if he was angry or insulted that I would send back a drink that wasn't made properly. He asked if I would like something else, but my confidence in the bartender to make a proper drink had waned and I stuck with water for the rest of the night. My date continued with a 3rd glass of wine. About 10 minutes after this, my date got up to use the restroom, and our server came over and handed me a box for the remaining pizza, without asking if we would like anything else or if my date was done with her wine. He whisked away the half full glass and dropped our check effectively ending our visit. We weren't ready to leave. My date came back to the table and asked where the rest of her drink was and I explained the our server cleared the table and dropped the check. She said "I guess it's time to go". The nail in the coffin was when I picked up the check to see that I was charged for a $16 "Casamigos" cocktail. So i suppose if i had continued to drink the Paloma he would have been happy to charge me $16 for a $5 happy hour drink. The whole experience was off-putting and we didn't feel welcome. It felt as if our server was just trying to turn tables as fast as possible. I won't be returning and recommend others to stay far away. read more

When I got my ($5) Sprite, it tasted like seltzer water. When I asked the waiter about it, he just mumbled something. I brought it up again and he told me, "I know, the syrup is downstairs. I'm not dumb." We ordered a Wedge salad to be shared, which was delicious. There were two other people at the table. Person #1 really enjoyed their mushroom ravioli and the cocktail was extremely enjoyed, as well as the gelato for dessert. Person #2 got the BLT Wrap. He said that there wasn't much bacon. He got potato fries with it and they were thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. He requested mayo to go with the fries and was charged $2 extra. My brother and I decided to come here for my birthday lunch. The restaurant is huge and has a decked out bar. We were immediately seated and are server was quick to come to our table. She came with complimentary bread with a some sort of vegetable spread, which was okay. We ordered a Half Cheese and Pepperoni pizza and my brother had a glass of Merlot. The pizza was good but as I kept biting into my pizza I just tasted a mass amount of oil coming from pizza. The pizza had great crispiness and great flavor but the oil after bite wasn't working for me, although the pizza didn't appear oily when coming out. I come here often as I work in the area and enjoy their pizza. However, this review is because of the service I had today. I had 20 minutes to get a quick bite to eat, and I called them asking about how long for the soup of the day. They said it's pretty much ready and wouldn't be more than five minutes. So I go over a couple of minutes later and they tell me to hold on due to an issue on their computer. After about 10 minutes waiting, I politely asked "excuse me, is the soup ready?" And someone in an aggressive and annoyed tone passes me my bag of food and says "here. Have a nice day. " no sorry for the wait, no "hey just take it because this issue is our fault" , just aggression as if it was my fault? Normally, I don't leave negative reviews but to a place that has good food and I try to visit often to support a local business. It does not seem right to treat your customers this way based off your own internal issues... I will probably come back because this was just one person . but please know that the service here cannot be the best . read more

It all started with not being able to talk to the person next to you because it was so noisy. Onto the service, our waiter came to the table minutes after we were seated and asked us for our drink orders. We asked him to come back as we hadn't even looked at the menu yet. He came back in 5 minutes and wanted our drink and dinner orders. We gave him our drink orders and asked him to come back for our dinner orders. When we finally gave him our dinner orders... salads and entrees, salads were brought out and one salad order was incorrect. We sent it back and when the correct salad arrived it was half the size of the original salads. Then entrees were delivered before we were not even halfway through our salads. I will not speak for the others at our table, but I ordered the Eggplant Parm. The portion was enough to feed at least 3 people and served over overcooked spaghetti with enough sweetened tomato sauce covering the dish that I couldn't locate the eggplant from the spaghetti. The drinks are overpriced and the tap beer was less than a diet coke that was ordered. Needless to say that we will never be coming back. We couldn't complain because the waiter couldn't hear what we were saying! read more
