As a relative newcomer to Middletown, I've been trying different pizza places, trying to find the best - and now I've found it. Pizza Palace is an unassuming place on south Main, but its pizza is first rate. They fire up the brick oven on the weekends, which makes that the right time to try their pies. The sausage on the Special is wonderful, and every pie I've had was cooked to perfection. The two brothers who run the place are continually in motion, because orders are coming in all the time. We used to eat here , for years, almost every week. Eventually a new owner changed the dough recipe for their pizza, and we were not happy with it. Gone was the flavor and texture we had loved, so we stopped going. Flash to last week, and I decided to give it another try. Ordered pizza. It was awful. No flavor. Sauce and dough tasteless. This is a hidden gem! Pizza, garlic knots, mozzarella sticks, marinara, salad, all super fresh and yummy! Real kalamata olives on the salad, not gross black olives that some places serve. The sausage on the pizza was crumbled and cooked on the pie, not sliced up links. Shrimp fra diavolo was a bit overdone, but they let me switch out broccoli for the linguini and the sauce was delicious. The lighting is too bright for romantic ambiance if you dine in, but the wine pours are generous. Service was impeccable! Very reasonable prices. Will be back soon! read more

They renovated the place and finally reopened but they've changed everything. They no longer do pan pizzas which everyone loved and are doing this 'ny style' pizza only. And on top of changing everything, the stuff they replaced it with is awful. Dry tasteless crust, bad sauce. I really hope they go back to the pan pizzas. read more

I've been going to this establishment for years and they continue to be consistent and their food is delicious. They have some of the best pizza in town and they are very family oriented and it is owned and operated by two brothers. The only thing I wish they would do is to maybe renovate the place a bit and make it more look more updated. read more

I kinda laugh when people say this is the best pizza around. It's a solid option but there is nothing great here. There are several better options in the area including mondo and carmines. The inside is very small and dated. The price for a large cheese is pretty good at 13.25. I was not a fan of their bbq chicken wrap they used some bbq sauce that was terrible. Stopped here randomly on a drive home. The pizza was good. It's not like New York pizza because it is a bit thicker but the flavor and consistency was awesome! We also ordered the stuffed shells and they were really good. Tons of cheese mixed with the sauce which they baked. The only thing I did not love was the garlic break but it came with something we ordered. One last thing is they had a huge gluten free menu. This is often tough to find.... What? No air conditioning? It's July in the year 2019 and this restaurant is too cheap to install working AC??? The outside temp is 90 degrees. The Sicilian pizza is a great deal (about $18 for a huge pizza). It came a bit soggy but it was pretty good. The fries were yummy. Veggies in the salad someone else had ordered seemed fresh. This is a GREAT place to grab some delicious lunch or dinner. My father, who is the pickiest eater on the planet, recommended going here, after having a steak and cheese grinder. We arrived late last night, so my 2 year old daughter was wired up and tired. The VERY pregnant waitress was super nice to her and gave her crayons while we waited for our food. The interior is small and quaint. All the tables filled up as we waited for our food. Someone decided to have a Christmas party there and was able to fit a party of 10 inside. It's a great place for casual eating. As for the food, I can honestly say that we ALL cleaned our plates. My father got the steak and cheese grinder that he boasted about. After having a taste, I might have to have it for myself (without the bread, since I'm gluten intolerant). The steak had a nice texture that was juicy but not greasy at all! I had a chef salad that was extremely fresh and tasty (which is actually a hard find nowadays). My husband got the cheeseburger and spent most of the night quiet eating it. My daughter ordered the chicken tenders with fries. She too was quiet all night. Needless to say, we can add this as another great place to grab a bite. Very casual, very friendly. We do not order the pizza here it's edible but we prefer Carnines, Mondo or even Newfield Pizza The bread is bad CT bread not the good bread Illianos uses. Since our sons wee born in CT they're used to it . My husband and I don't order a grinder. The meals are good. My husband loves tge chicken Alfredo. Baked ziti is way too dry. They are extremely stingy with their red sauce . I like my pasta on the side rather than under my meat. Ordered once to go, got home no sauce on spaghetti. Ordered in the restaurant same thing. Brought the spaghetti dry and was told to use my sauce from the chicken parmigiana. My husbands Alfredo was over sauced and Alfredo is more expensive than tomato sauce. Won't go anymore. Illianos food is so much better and they are much nicer to their customers read more

Each pizza is $2:50 a slice. A topping is $3.25 a slice. That means 3 alices is about $10. I can get a poppa johns whole pizza for that much. And when I said something about it the girls that were working there were whispering about me in front of me. Their food is not that good anyway. It's unfortunate that I have to write this. The very best Pizza for miles around. This place has been around for well over 40 years and was owned by a nice older couple who sold it and moved to Florida to retire. It is now owned by two much younger gents , who still use the same recipes as well as the same pride in providing the very best. You can dine in or take out. The place is clean.
