So when I needed to get my nails done for a special event and they were booked solid, I panicked! Fortunately a friend told me about this mobile nail tech who could come to my home and do my nails. And that is how I came to get klawed by Kin. Kin arrived 5 minutes early and got right to work. I had originally told her that I wanted press on nails ( she makes her own) and my toes painted a sparkly red for Christmas. However, I changed my mind and decided to just have my natural nails painted, as I was afraid that they would not last until Christmas, as I am very rough on my nails. Although Miss Kin assured me that the nails would last, she agreed to do my natural nails and to come back closer to Christmas to do the press ons. She set about doing a meticulous job on my pedicure, which she ended with a wonderful relaxing foot massage. She then set about shaping and filing my nails and painting them a beautiful, sparkling Ruby red. Again, this was followed by a wonderful hand and arm massage. All in all, it was a wonderful experience I look forward to having her return to do my Christmas press ons.

Billy answered the phone and although I requested him, it was same day so he was busy. That's understandable and he suggested Kevin. I specifically asked if Kevin is good w/ Gel-X and he replied "Yes." I was about 8 mins late for my 4:30 appt, so I couldn't exactly be upset that Kevin wasn't ready for me. He finally got to me around 4:50pm. Billy placed the Gel-X supplies on an empty station, and that's when I suddenly became apprehensive. I've been getting my nails done for YEARS, so that was the first red flag for me. Why doesn't Kevin already have his own supplies at a permanent station? Subsequently, I abruptly changed my service to a gel manicure, because that's a basic level service and I was hopeful that it would work out. I was wrong. The polishing was bad. He was hurting my cuticles by being too aggressive and trying to cut off too much cuticles. A few times I said "ouch" and moved my hand. The shaping was bad, and my nice ssa still tipped him. SMH. Why? Because he still did a service, even if it was below my standards, I am just used to it. AND the three staff were so nice and accommodating. But, nice isn't enough. It hasn't even been 24 hours and the polish has started peeling on two nails. This is my second time at this place. The first visit for a pedicure wasn't the best as far as my experience during the service (the guy was rough and pushy), but ultimately my toes looked good, so I wanted to give them another try. Plus, they're so close to me home, but it didn't work out for me. Hopefully others will have a better experience.

She fixed all my little hang nails and cleaned everything up, didn't file my nail bed, and my first manicure stayed on for a month, easy. I removed it because I was getting tired of the color but it didn't peel or lift at all. The appointments are long but it's because Tina takes VERY good care of your nails. To her credit, she seemed embarrassed but her excuse that my "cuticles are weak" makes no sense because I've gotten a lifetime of manicures and at least 20 gel manicures prior to this one, and this is the first time I've ever experienced any kind of blood when a manicurist has cut my cuticles. I should have stopped the manicure at that point, but she seemed so nice and offered to give me a free art design and a free bottle of cuticle oil, and I felt very awkward, so I let her continue, even though I spent the rest of the manicure feeling paranoid that I was going to get an infection. What resulted is the absolute worse gel manicure I've ever had. The gel had a very lumpy consistency in certain spots, which I feel could only be attributed to poor technique. What's weird is that her own nails were done so nicely, so I don't know how or why my manicure ended up being such a nightmare. I spent the next couple of days with band-aids and Neosporin wrapped around the bottom of my fingernails -- not the look I was going for. The only positive part of the experience is that she played the pilot episode of 'Ugly Betty' during my manicure, and I'd forgotten how funny that show is, so I enjoyed watching that.
