I've walked past this place so many times and always noticed the rotating lineup of food truck vendors. I love that every day brings a new vendor to try and support. I've been coming here with my coworkers on Wednesdays for trivia night, and the taco truck is always a hit!!! Especially because they offer vegan options for my coworkers. Their beer selection is also fantastic. I've tried several, and the bartenders really know their craft. They always help you find something you'll enjoy. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great spot for your fur buddies, and you're even allowed to bring your own food if you want. I can't believe that I walked past this place multiple times and never acknowledged that it was a brewery. This brewery is definitely a hidden gem just down the street from Todos Santos Park. We were here on a Wednesday evening for the Home Alone Trivia night and it was so fun! There was a taco truck outside and I ordered a plate from La Kura who brought the food to our table. Their food was delicious by the way. Side Gate has different food trucks every night so there's a chance that La Kura may not be there on the day you go. But I think they are there on Wednesdays. This gem is located on the corner of the street that literally has a Side Gate you can enter through. They had a food truck outside, not sure if they are featuring deferent food vendors or if this is their own, but it's always nice when there's food options. My Mom loves it here. It's a short walk from Concord Bart station , just outside of Todos Santos Plaza. It's not uncommon for a food truck to pull into their parking lot or for a bit of live music to be in the mix. The staff are very knowledgeable about beer itself and their offerings. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and a loyalty program. We enjoyed IPAs and a lil Uno on a weekday afternoon on their patio and couldn't have had a better time. I moved to Contra Costa county in late 2023. I started going to Side Gate Brewery while living in Oakland. The beers are brewed in vats not far from the inside seating. The brewmaster is always coming up with new brews. If you don't like one style you will like another. If you don't drink they have non-alcoholic beverages too. There were also plenty of shade to get out of the Concord sun, however, keep in mind that it does still stay fairly hot both indoors and outdoors. Mind you this was my first time in this establishment and sat where the chair was already with no one else at the bar. Side Gate is a nice little brewery tucked off to the side of Todos Santos plaza. They have a very small parking lot but if you're willing to walk, there is street parking and parking garages only blocks away. No on-site food but they have food trucks practically daily which they post online, so you'll know who's coming. There was only one beertender on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. Thankfully she was very efficient and the wait wasn't long. I will say they need space heaters out in the patio as it was very chilly when we visited and there was no seating indoors. So be prepared during these cooler months in case you get stuck outside. read more

This is a very fun spot to hang out grab some drinks and food! They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a backyard vibe decoration. Extremely friendly bartender who assisted us with grabbing flights and flavored seltzers. They have a food truck that shows up at 12pm (check their website for their rotating food truck vendors). They have a handful of games and it is very clean. Only downside for me is that the handful of beers they do have none that wowed me. We really love the variety of local breweries and tap rooms there are to explore so close to home. Side Gate is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The remodel of the place really opened up the building, with high ceilings, upstairs seating and large glass garage door style doors that open up to the wonderful patio. Lots of seating inside and out. They have a good beer selection and offer beer flights too. There is often a food truck in the parking lot, snacks for sale at the bar and I'm pretty sure you can bring food with you. Sidegate Brewery is hands down one of my favorite local spots in Concord! The beer here is next level--great selection, excellent brewing, and something for every beer enthusiast to enjoy. The owners are fantastic people who are passionate about what they do and it shows. They've been incredibly welcoming, even letting us film our beer podcast, Hops and Houses, here several times. They even gave us the opportunity to do a pre-grand opening podcast and tour, which was such a cool experience. Ample seating outside, inside and upstairs. Bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. Games for play, family friendly. Bartenders were upbeat and quick to serve and make suggestions. All the beers were tasty but they do great hazy beers! I enjoyed both Hazys but my preferred was the On the Fence. Milk stout was pretty tasty too! The fruited sour wasn't too tart and fruit forward though so maybe skip that if you're used to more fruity and super sour beers from Rare Barrel or Fieldwork. read more

So this is a cute little hole in the wall establishment. Super cute place. Friendly bartenders. A 4x4 flight is 4 oz of 4 different beers. They do have a lot of beers on tap. We came for their Oktoberfest event and had a great time! The space is not huge, but there's still a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. They had a food truck and a band and some craft booths. They had like 5 German style beers on tap and all 4 we tried were great! The hefe, dark lager, helles, and festbier were all excellent! The staff were friendly and the vibe was great. Well, that was a hoot! I was forced - forced, I tell you!!! - to go to Side Gate. First thing, good parking. Secondly, a completely remodeled seating area, long bar, and patio area. Thirdly, over a dozen of their own beers being served. The thing after Thirdly, friendly/knowledgeable staff. And, lastly, the beer was tasty... The food truck, as food trucks tend to, had a selection of entertaining food (had curry nachos, which were surprisingly good). Oh, my significantly better half (who hates beer, go figure) was entertained by the seltzers or ciders (honestly, she was happy and it wasn't beer, so I was being an idiot not paying attention). "Creative Brewery + Art Gallery!" Yes--You heard that right; it's not just a brewery and taproom-- it's an art gallery! Of course, before I begin my art tour, I had to get my brew. They have about a dozen beers on tap and I selected a light pilsner. Just what the doctor ordered! Here's a secret: Go upstairs to the room called The Loft. The nice folks here at Side Gate allow local artists to display their art for free! I had a chance to talk to one of the managers, Andy, who gave me a tour of their brewing facility and explained the history of this business. He explained that the city of Concord wants to make Concord a beer mecca, and they have a lot of beer connoisseurs on the city council. They have a spotless brewing area just off the dining room. If you're really nice, they'll let you go in and take a look. But most of all, don't miss the "Loft" upstairs. That's where they have the artwork. After you check out the art, go outside and visit the garden area. This is definitely one of the nicest breweries I have visited in recent days. A lot of creativity has gone into creating this warm, inviting environment. Congratulations for getting off to such a fantastic start! The day after Thanksgiving my friend wanted to catch up over some beers. I've driven past Side Gate Brewing a few times but never got a chance to check it out until recently. Inconspicuously located just on the outskirts of Todos Santos, this place is much bigger once you go in. Outside it has a beautiful beer garden with a lot of space, inside there or two levels so you definitely won't feel claustrophobic in here even at peak hours. They offer many choices, from pale ales, porters to anything in between. My friend and I in typical Californian fashion ordered West Coast IPAs which you can never go wrong with. They also offer mini pints if you don't want to commit to a full glass. There were many children in the beer garden so this place is definitely family friendly for those who might be wondering. Most days they also have food trucks but they welcome any outside food you bring in as well. It's a beautiful space with a mellow vibe so I will definitely be back. read more
