Warm and friendly greeting from the staff-spoke to three different members, all very nice. My order was taken and the food arrived quickly. I had a ham scramble with sourdough toast and hash browns-eggs, toast and hash browns were great. My rider ordered over easy eggs, biscuit n gravy. All the food was great and all was eaten. They let you order the way you like it (as another rater stated-had home fries put into the breakfast burrito). The inside of the 'cafe' was decorated with a country theme and some photos of a ranch that occupied the property in the past. Considering the quality of our food, the choice of how you would like it served, the warm smile from the young waitress-well 5 Stars were the order of the day. I will note, that I asked the home fries to be inside the burrito, instead on the side. Even the accompanying salsa was very good. The only detraction was the price. We just left from a different restaurant that ignored us, and we walked away from after waiting there for 30 minutes. We quickly found this place online. We were all hungry , maybe hangry at this point. This place was packed, our waitress was on top of our drinks, our food order. Our food came out hot and ready , within 10 minutes or less! It's off the main street, up an alleyway type street with other industrial businesses right there. Parking could be a tad of a walk if they're busy, just FYI. REVIEW: A solid 3 star experience, but rounding up to 4 as their Club was really good. Once again, Yelp ate my photos of the sandwich and inside decor. Grrr. So yum. I finally made it... what drew me was the hash. I am a huge hash fan and is was tasty. I love the added mushrooms and onions. Biscuit was soft, gravy flavor was tasty too. And while I love the flavor of the hash, the only thing I was a touch disappointed about was the ratio of meat to potato. I feel like there was a lot more potatoes [and veggies] than hash. Side street cafe is a solid breakfast and lunch spot located in Newbury Park. It's off the grid and located in the industrial area of NP (near Amgen) so make sure you GPS it and then you'll have no problem finding them. I was impressed that for a spot off the beaten path it was plenty busy and is known amongst the community. This spot is giving diner old time vibes. The kind of spot that I am sure feels nostalgic coming with your family and friends growing up. The interior is cozy and diner like, a grandma decorated type of feel. And that's A Ok. Not every spot needs to be flashy and new age decor - modern does not fit the vibe here. It's giving comfort and cozy which I absolutely love and makes for a casual lowkey meal. Staff and service was 5 - stars all around. We were right away and everyone was very nice and attentive. I appreciated that we were in and out just over 30 minutes as we needed a quick lunch. Waitress was friendly and it was an enjoyable atmosphere. For food we ordered a patty melt and a tuna melt. I absolutely loved my tuna melt and would rate it a 5/5 . I subbed their Swiss cheese for American and that was the perfect choice. The grilled bread was buttery and the tuna tasted so good. Served up with some French fries and that "good good ranch" I'd definitely order this again. If you are craving a solid tuna sandwich come here. My mom didn't love her patty melt and I agreed with her, it looked a little dry and she maybe should have subbed out the dark rye bread for something else. The potato salad was also a little too mustard forward for my taste but some prefer it that way. Out of two dishes one was a home run and the other we wouldn't order again. All in all I had a good experience here. Service was fast, everyone friendly and I liked my meal. Found this place on Yelp while looking for breakfast options close to our hotel in the Newbury Park area. This place is HIDDEN, so we definitely wouldn't have found it without that search. Even as we arrived, we thought we might be in the wrong place as it was a pretty industrial/warehouse-y area. But alas, it was Side Street Cafe! We came in around 9:15am on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty large with multiple rooms and some outdoor seating as well. The place is pretty dated and definitely gives off a small town diner vibe, but we came for the food and not the ambiance. Service was friendly, food came up quick, and portions were a pretty good size. They had a nice variety of diner breakfast staples, a handful of south of the border options, and a range of Benedicts. My brother and I opted to share a benny and a Belgian waffle. The benedict was great, eggs were cooked perfectly and it was loaded up with meat and hollandaise sauce. Belgian waffle was good, but nothing too special. Hashbrowns were nice and crispy, but did require the addition of some salt. Overall, a pretty solid spot for a traditional breakfast in a homey whole in the wall environment. read more

I came in for lunch , this is a cute family brunch diner type of restaurant. The service was good, They were very nice and attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. I wish I would have tried a breakfast item because I did not like the soup / sandwich , the clam chowder was very fishy tasting I couldn't eat it, the fish flavor over powdered the soup , and the lettuce on my turkey sandwich was wilted and brown, they didn't put much mayonnaise on the bread so it was just very plain. One of my favorite local breakfast spots in the area. Service has always been friendly and great. The inside feels like a homey diner spot and I love it! American breakfast foods are pretty simple. Their menu is pretty extensive for breakfast foods but they also have lunch options. I always always get the same thing - 2 ergs breakfast with sausage patties, crispy hasbrowns, and sourdough bread. Crispy hasbrowns are a must!! Their biscuits and gravy are also delicious. Chicken fried steak hits if you're looking for something heavier and meatier. Honestly, can't go wrong with any of their breakfast items. I'll always be coming here when I'm in the area :) it's a locals favorite too! read more

As a regular customer of Sidecar Cafe, I've always looked forward to eating here, especially their Eggs Benedict, which has consistently been one of my favorite breakfast dishes. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a major disappointment. I decided to try something different and ordered the bacon and eggs with crispy hash browns. Sadly, nothing about the meal lived up to the quality I've come to expect. The hash browns were far from crispy, the bacon was cold and fatty and the eggs were underwhelming, and even the toast was disappointing--it arrived with little to no butter, making it dry and unappetizing. To make matters worse, the service was just as disappointing as the food. Our waitress showed very little personality, didn't seem interested in providing good customer service, and never once returned to our table to ask how our meal was or if we needed anything. It's frustrating when a restaurant you've supported for years misses the mark on both food and service. I know Sidecar Cafe is capable of much better, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I hope they take customer feedback seriously and get back to the level of quality that made me a loyal customer in the first place. read more

We found this restaurant while searching on Yelp for a place to eat lunch in Newberry Park. You don't find it by driving by or while shopping at a mall. It is located on an industrial alleyway (hence the name Side Street). But definitely worthwhile going a little out of your way to find. There is ample free parking in the alleyway. The inside seating is fairly small and there are a few tables out front on the patio. They have a breakfast and lunch menu. I went with the Cobb Salad off the lunch menu ($17). A fairly large portion with the typical Cobb ingredients (lots of bacon!!!). My buddy got the Grilled Chicken Salad ($14). A large serving of the chicken on top. Both salads fresh and tasty. Service was fairly quick and very friendly. Very good spot for an informal lunch. read more

Side Street is a super cute (albeit small) breakfast/lunch cafe! It's popular for a reason. I never fail to have an amazing experience when I go. The staff are all so welcoming and kind, and you'll never wait long on your food/drinks. The Denver omelette is an obsession of mine (it's my go-to at any breakfast joint). It was by far one of the best I've had! I do wish they served maybe avocado and salsa with it, but even without those, it was great. I asked for strawberries instead of mixed fruit as my side and got a decent amount. The prices are a little on the higher end, but not terrible when compared to other local cafes. What a great spot! Had been recommended to me as the best place for Eggs Benedict, but this was my first visit. Larger on the inside than it would appear from outside. Parking was easy on a Saturday morning. Several patio tables (they allow dogs), but I opted for inside and sat at the bar. 4-5 seats. There are 28 or so tables inside to accommodate all needs - large parties, deuces, comfy, padded booths. Greeted by several people when I sat at the bar, but Shelby was the one who took care of me. While I did see they had traditional Eggs Benedict, I ask her which of the 9 variations was the most popular. Shelby guided me to an off-menu special they had posted: the California Benedict. Poached eggs, with avocado, on crispy bacon on hash browns. Without thinking, I automatically went with hash browns, extra crispy, for my included side. I love hash browns, but these were massive rectangles. You will not leave hungry. Next time I'll do the fruit or another option. The Hollandaise Sauce, though, was extra special. Some they added that gave it an extra creamy texture. And just the right amount to sop up with the hash browns. Soooo good!! Many options on the menu if eggs are not your thing. Shelby came and apologized before taking the order. I asked between side street scramble and special and Shelby suggested scramble due to my concern about portion. When I chose the home fries, she asked if I like it extra crispy. "Actually, I like it a little soft," I replied. When's the last time I was asked how I wanted my fries done?? I watched Sunday morning football on the screen and before a team was done with their possession my food was in front of me. Scramble was flavorful and tasty. Fresh. I finished it in no time. While looking around during commercials, I saw how passionate these guys are about breakfast! Ive never been more impressed by the staff and employee in my life.
