My friends wanted to eat here since one of them was craving their fried rice. It was my first time trying this place and was looking forward to it. This place is located on the second floor of South Shore near Nordstrom Rack. This place was spacious and had a bar style vibes. There is a bar counter in the back as well as a lot of dine-in tables. Dynamite fried boneless chicken bites: We got this on their happy hour menu. The chicken bites were good. It was large and meaty. The breading was good. Crispy and seasoned. It wasn't hot temperature wise though. Garlic bacon fried rice: Wow, absolutely love this fried rice. So much flavor and very savory. The yellow pickles in the rice were very smart. Adds some crunchy texture and tangy taste to it. Fish and chips: The fish was good, moist and golden crispy. The tsukudani aioli was delicious. A very different aioli sauce. We got an upgrade on the fries and chose the truffle parmesan fries. Good truffle flavor and the fries were thin and crispy. Not enough parmesan on top though. Overall, really enjoyed their foods. The portions were big and perfect for sharing. The service was not bad, our server was friendly but she did disappear afterwards so we had to go to the bar counter to fill our waters on our own. I swear I remember drinking and eating here and everything just slapped. Maybe it's because I'm sober now? The food isn't the same as it used to be. Took a while to get seated even though the restaurant was lowkey kinda empty. Oysters weren't fresh and had a weird after taste to them. The pasta is their speciality I must say. My sister-in-law (SIL) invited me to attend the Earth, Wind and Fire concert at the Blaisdell arena. She was meeting up with her girlfriend and five others for drinks and pupus at The Social, on the second floor of the Ward Village Northeast parking garage. She found a parking space on the second floor (how lucky is that?) and we went to Nordstrom Rack and TJ MAXX as we were early. This was my first visit to The Social. You enter via a single door and walk left down a hall past two sliding entry doors (on your left) that aren't used (strange), and find yourself in a long, relatively narrow space with three rows of tables ending at the kitchen. There must be more to the place than I saw because I didn't see the bar nor a large room that I saw in pics on Yelp. My SIL and I ordered Monkey 47 gin & tonics ($10ea) while her friends ordered a house red ($8), a JPOP Chu-Hi ($8) and food. We ended up with Garlic Chicken ($21.95, more like popcorn chicken), Truffle Parmesan Fries (16.95), and Shrimp Spring Rolls ($18.95). The latter looked like crispy cones and was served with a sweet, chili sauce. The (relatively small order of) Fries came with small containers of Ketchup and Aioli; the Chicken came in a bowl. The others at our table ordered tofu salad and sliced steak, which they shared with us. The food was tasty and well presented. My sole quibble was with the fries ... It was way too small an order for the price charged. I liked the place but the hard surfaces (floor, walls, and ceiling) made it pretty noisy. The fries and pasta were particularly good and flavorful that we ordered seconds. It was addicting. We decided to give them another try after going years ago at their old location since we were shopping in the area. It seemed to be a slow day for them but two other tables came in shortly after us. The girl who sat and served us was very nice & checked on us often. We got our drinks in a timely manner but the food took about 45 minutes to get to us after ordering. The table who ordered before us got their plates one by one at separate times so I knew kitchen staff was low that day. When our food came out it was presented nicely, but the burger patties seemed unseasoned. I believe they're previously frozen which ok since they don't specify it's made in house but it just lacked seasoning unfortunately. It's not too loud In there, lots of TV's to watch sports & I saw the girl happily change it for an other table who wanted to watch something in particular. They were also out of a couple things which the server made us aware of, later I overheard more things were out after another couple tried to order. The Social is located in the South Shore Market in Ward. It's in the same shopping mall with TJMaxx and Nordstrom Rack. It's such a convenient place because you don't have to worry about parking. In addition to that, the place is pretty clean and spacious. It's a good place for a small gathering. I will have to say that it's kind of in the pricer side; but the portion and the amount of food is pretty good. With this economy and located in the Ward area, it's understandable. Truffle Bacon Penne Pasta 4.5/5: Surprisingly, the overall dish was not salty. It's actually pretty good for such price. The pasta is cook enough that's not overcooked or under cooked. It already comes with bacon, but I added grilled chicken for extra protein. The chicken is not salty, and it's tender and flavorful. Garlic shrimp 4.5/5: It's a food truck style garlic shrimp with rice. I will definitely get it again because it's sooo good! However, I do have to say that the shrimp was actually pretty salty. Buttt, it's sooo flavorful. You can tell they are not petty in garlic and butter because they put a lot of garlic and butter that each piece of the shrimp is coated evenly that absorbs the garlicky flavor. The shrimp is fresh and not overcooked. If you like rice, the rice will taste like heaven. Kimchee fried rice here is my all time favorite. I have yet to love this at another restaurant. We even ordered it for our wedding, and it was a huge hit. My daughter loves their honey walnut shrimp and fries. The breading to the honey walnut shrimp is always just right and it's not overly dressed with the honey or walnuts, either. This is also my husband's favorite app. We're sorta regulars here, so the service is always great. Servers greet with a smile and are quick to place orders for both food and drinks. When we sit at the bar, it's the same, as well. The bartenders are always friendly and take the time to get to know your name. Hanging out in the south shore market place is fun, until you realize a lot of places close early and fast food options become smaller. I have never tried the Social and was in luck when we found out it was open and they could seat us. There was an insurance group there so the place was pretty busy. We had a group of 5 with a baby. The place was quite loud so looking back it probably wasn't the best place to catch up in. Menus are QR code only so if you want a physical one, you might have to ask for it. But we were not provided one . We ordered a few dishes and they came out rather quickly. My favorite was the brusselsprouts and least favorite was the truffle fries - only because they were great The second they came out, and after that they tasted stale. We ended up getting a salad, some fried rice, Kalbi, a burger and pasta. I think everyone enjoyed their dish, but to me it was bar food. It looked like they had a lot of drink specials going on and we just missed happy hour food specials. There were a lot of TVs playing different things. Service was good. I'm very surprised the amount of pictures I don't have from this place by how often I go here. One of my regular spots. Pre-game, hangout, "chill" night out. Definitely "let's get one drink" place that never actually ends up being that. Waitresses and bartenders are so nice and helpful. They come around very often and check on you a lot. It does get crowded on certain nights, but they do a great job on making their rounds. If you sit at the bar and are willing to drink, the bartenders will feed you. Don't get me started on the food. Not your average bar food. Excellent dishes for sharing or personal. But it's a great shareable/family style. Great time for dinner. Their happy hour is also great! They also have great cocktails. Their matcha old fashion is a great sipper. But just came across a new drink called "BOB". So good. If you like tequila and want a good shot, order a PWK. Surprisingly good! We were not expecting that level of food--gourmet kine! It was one of the only places open (super convenient) after we had to return something at Nordstrom Rack. We walked in and it was pretty empty except for a small table also playing darts. Such a great place for a social gathering hence the name of the establishment. The atmosphere is casual and fun. A bar in the back with tons of seating if you want to dine in. You can also play darts. Drinks are great, servers and bartenders are kind and serve you in order (they don't skip you to go to serve their friends first like in other bars). Let's talk food -- I highly recommend the uni pasta!! It's creamy and savory at the same time. My description of this dish doesn't do it justice so you'll have to just go and try it. Always walked by this restaurant but never went in until today. After walking around the ward area, we started feeling a little hungry. We decided we didn't want a full meal and just wanted pupus. And from where we were sitting, I didn't want to walk too far and so we looked up the apps at The Social Club. Great timing, it was another 7-minutes until they opened at 4 pm. We headed down. The doors were closed but the sign said OPEN. We arrived the same time as another couple that caused the sliding doors to open at 3:58 pm. A staff member came to the door at 3:59 pm and he sat us first as the other couple was waiting for their friends. Love their promptness. All TVs were on on both sides of the restaurant. My seat was facing the TV with Spider-Man Far From Home and the TV next to it, the Steelers and Ravens game. While my sisters watched Avengers Ultron movie behind me. Super thirsty so we just had waters. Asked the server what apps are good and so we went with the dynamite chicken, the shrimp spring rolls and later, we ordered the zucchini fries cuz we needed some kind of veggies. Food was tasty. However, I did miss having ranch with the zucchini. Going through the menu, everything is reasonably priced. Not sure if because it was still early, but I liked the atmosphere a lot. It's been 2 years since the last time we were here and we knew we had to come back. One of the drinks we enjoyed the most was the match old fashion. We went to Japan and still couldn't find a drink that was as good as the Social's. It's definitely a drink to try if you like matcha and old fashioned drinks. As for food, their loco moco with fried rice is really good. When we first had it, we were only going to share it between me and my husband. We devoured it and ordered a second one! We ordered it again when we came back and it did not disappoint. We also tried the uni mentaiko pasta and the oyster shooters. Uni is a hit or miss for me and I really enjoyed this uni pasta. It was just slightly too salty. Oysters were also tasty. We would order these again. There's a parking garage with plenty of parking. The restaurant is on the second floor. Probably now one of my favorite places to come to eat and pau hana now. Located right below TJ Maxx in Wards, on the second floor. Parking it not too bad as it'll be during the late afternoon or evening time you'll come here. The entrance is open and welcoming, with someone always at the entrance to greet you and have you seated. When you get in, you'll see TVs posted throughout the place and dartboards available to play games. The bar is at the back of the room, and but there's lots of seating and tables. The menu is simple and has so much yummy food on it. My favorite is the oyster shooters for sure! I love how cute it comes out in spoons, and it's a good amount to share between two people, or for yourself. Also comes with a side of Tabasco for those who want a little kick. The dynamite chicken is really good too. It's not drenched in sauce which is nice because it doesn't get soggy. Again a good amount to share. The kimchee fried rice was good, it comes topped with an egg, and the yolk is always fun to pop. It's not spicy to me, but does have that kimchee flavor. This was the first time I've ever been to this place, tucked away on the second floor of the South Shore Marketplace garage. We checked out the menu outside for plant based items and found a few, so we went inside. It was just past 6:00pm so we just missed Happy Hour and it was early enough that the place wasn't too busy yet . Nicole was our server and she couldn't do enough for us. We were curious about a couple of the creative drinks on the menu & asked Nicole for her recommendation of the light seltzer drinks. We were thinking of lychee and that's what we went with. It was delicious so we took a photo of the can to see who else sells it. We decided to order the fish and chips (really ono fish (basa)) with a mayo/wasabi dip) and yummy, crispy zucchini fries with a yummy dip. Throughout the meal, Nicole and other servers checked in on us to make sure we enjoyed our food and if we needed anything. The place started filling up and getting louder, too. After perusing our menu via QR, we decide to start with cocktails. BFF starts with Matcha Old Fashion ($15) and I choose the Social Mai Tai ($14). We quietly had a chuckle seeing our bartender almost a dead ringer for me lol... homie with baby blue top, jeans & extrovert tattoos. Stylish:D We decide it was pasta night, so BFF craved the Uni Mentaiko Spaghetti ($24) - uni mentaiko cream sauce, ikura, mentaiko, fried garlic chips, green onions, kizami nori. Had such a great time at The Social Honolulu! The food was amazing -- we ordered the uni pasta and oyster shooters, and both were absolute winners. The uni pasta was creamy, flavorful, and indulgent in the best way. The oyster shooters were fresh and perfectly done -- and we loved that they were served in soup spoons, which made it so convenient (and classy) to enjoy. The vibes here are on point -- super chill but still lively, and the ambience made it easy to kick back and enjoy the night. We especially loved that they had darts! I've been waiting to come to Social's new location. It was crowded on a Friday night so but sure to reserve a table if possible. The best part of the Social is their food. Some foods we tried were the Garlic Bacon Fried Rice, Truffle Parmesan Fries, Chef's Ribeye, Pepperoni and Cheese Quesadilla, and Fried Boneless Chicken Bites (Dynamite). My favorites were the Garlic Bacon Fried Rice. It had a great bacon flavor and nice chunks of bacon. The Truffle Fries were crispy and had a nice white dipping sauce that went well it, we also had garlic fries but preferred the Truffle fries as they were crispier and much tastier, the chicken, steak, and quesadilla were good but the others were my favorite. The staff was friendly and attentive also checking on our table if we needed anything which was great. The new location seems smaller than the previous location and still has dart boards. I miss the arcades they had at the previous location. Overall this is great place for dining and drinks. Will come back again. read more

My friends and I came here last night after a haunted ghost tour. We were also celebrating one of my friends birthdays. I totally loved the atmosphere here! You can tell that the people who surrounded us was having a good time. Even the bouncer got some brownie points because he id'ed me and truthfully at my age these days, that is a huge compliment. Our waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, I did not catch her name. I have several food allergies and it makes dining out quite the challenge. Typically, I would have a drink, however I was driving and just decided to enjoy my time with my friends and be present in the moment. Everyone enjoyed their food and one of my friends allowed me to take pictures of it. They ginger chicken (in photo), shrimp spring rolls (in photo), truffle fries, something that reminded me of a monapua, and the special which was an after Thanksgiving sandwich. My friends enjoyed their food and drinks and we all had a fabulous time! I recommend you check this place out.
