We stumbled upon this place while walking in the Ward area and decided to give it a try before our concert at the Blaisdell Arena. Located next to Istanbul Hawaii, this place is a small but high-end restaurant, focusing on its exclusivity and intimate atmosphere. Initially, we were there to get a quick bite before the concert but ended up eating more than we planned for. However, it was so worth it! Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive to our needs. We started off with a refreshing yuzu drink that was sour, tart and fragrant. We asked questions about the menu items and the server knew exactly what to recommend based on our preferences. This place specializes in top-tier A5 Miyazaki and Washu Wagyu beef. It was super buttery and melted in our mouths. Our server recommended additional items and we happily obliged. This place can be pricey so I wouldn't come on an empty stomach, unless you're willing to spend a pretty penny. For the price paid, would have liked to see more side dishes included in the price instead of being ala carte. I have heard they have lunch and happy hour specials so we might just return for those budget friendly prices!

The best quality of meat for yakiniku on the island!! Of course the price is a little higher but you are paying for top quality wagyu from Japan. The restaurant is located in Ward with plenty of parking on either side. They do ala carte but the better bang for your buck is their preset platters as I did. They also do a delicious garlic fried rice that goes perfectly with the grilled meats. They also have an excellent sake selection and you can bring your own bottles also for a corking fee. The service is always in point and very attentive if you're goin for a birthday or anniversary celebration. A highly recommended spot if you wanna spoil your other half with a great meal!

Arrived to Han no Daidokoro in a party of four. First time for three of us so we were thrilled that there was happy hour going on. We are early eaters so 5pm dinner works well for us. Food delicious. Loved the smaller and less expensive happy hour dishes. Allowed us to sample so many things! The dol sot bibimbap was nice. The assorted appetizers gave nice variety. The only thing I would not recommend was the seafood pancake which was VERY small and unmemorable. My favorites being the Nikomi (a savory full bodied soup), the yukhae, and almost all of the cuts of beef for the grill! So mouthwatering delicious that we ordered a second round of the beef for grilling! The delicious food perfectly complimented by impeccable service. From the moment we walked in and were greeted to the final goodbye. The staff here made us feel like old friends. The ambience made us feel like we were dining by ourselves. We knew there were others behind us when entering restaurant but we didn't see them, at all. We didn't hear them either. Only when we stood up and walked through the main dining room did we realize the restaurant was completely full except one empty table! Thank you Han no Daidokoro for a most memorable meal..! Thank you dinner companions for even better company! Will I be back? Looking forward to the next time already.

This restaurant has a happy hour from 5-6 PM! There are really nice Korean-Japanese fusion dishes with a focus on grilled meats. The meats are exceptional quality though pricy. The bibimbap bowl was really tasty as was the kimchi trio. The restaurant has a nice quiet ambiance and the servers are very quick. Great for a party of 4!

Dined at Han No Daidokoro ward location for their premium wagyu. The service from our waiter was friendly and polite, although they didn't check in as often as we would have liked during the meal. As for the food, the wagyu quality was definitely there on some cuts a few pieces were excellent and literally melted in your mouth. That's always the highlight when you're going for wagyu. That said, the overall experience felt a little more like a regular BBQ spot than the premium experience I expected. It was good, but it felt fairly comparable to places like Hangan or Onkee Korea grill rather than something that really stood out as a Japanese premium bbq Still a solid place if you're craving wagyu BBQ, but I left feeling like it could have been just a little better overall for the price point.

Best wagu beef, buttery, just melts!

Delicious, Delicious. Delicious! For those that value quality over quantity, who cares about eating the most delicious high quality food while watching their calorie intake, wants to have a satisfying meal with great service, and not worry about overeating, this is the place to be. The best barbecue meat I have ever tasted! The meat tasted like butter: melts in your mouth, super buttery, deliciously seasoned, 45 seconds each side, with the perfect dipping sauce, every bite is heaven. Reserving a table was easy. We got the $65 per person set lunch, the server told me that this is the best meat that they offer in this restaurant, the highest grade wagu beef from southern Japan that was only served to the Emperor. What A perfect way to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. The happy hour lunch special cold beer went super well with this meal. We finished our meal with a cold Pho noodle bowl, and it was also equally delicious and satisfying. I was so full after the set lunch. Highly Delicious recommend it, definitely will visit again.

My second time here and it was for my partner's birthday. We sprung for the A5 Miyazaki course dinner. Ordered extra washu rib eye and wow everything absolutely hit the mark. My favorite was the delicate beef sushi bite, did not expect something so incredibly decadent. The staff are above and beyond friendly. Most courses you sear yourself, but there are a couple they're meant to cook for you. The food was such high quality and so fresh. It is a treat of an experience for sure. Worth the money and hope to come back to celebrate something in the future. Mahalo to the team for making his birthday so special!

Assorted platter. Portion good for 1-2 people. One of the cuts as you can see seems to be darker than usual. Tasted a bit funky.

This is usually all our friends go to spots for birthdays and holidays. Went for my birthday dinner this week. Me and my friend ordered the Ohana platter I believe and assorted beef tongue. We added bibimbap, yukhoe and seafood pancake as well. We really liked the beef tongue, fresh yukhoe and seafood pancake. The top quality beef tongue was so tender and totally recommend to try. 2 stars knocked off for the bibimbap and some parts of the beef we had on the platter. We thought the rice was just a bit too mushy for our liking. One of the cuts of beef seems to have a weird odor like it was going bad and started to taste very beefy but not in a pleasant way. Hopefully they can improve on freshness of that beef served or make sure it isn't starting to taste weird. When we started to dine here back in 2021 the beef have been consistently fresh. Maybe this time it was just a miss. Service was very pleasant and friendly staff. Overall, we might return again.

Got the $85 coursed set and it was amazing from start to finish. The kimchi was super fresh and crunchy, and every cut of meat was tender and packed with flavor. My favorite was the filet because it was soo tender. The wasabi was freshly ground, which made such a difference, and the garlic rice was addictive. I liked letting it crisp up in the stone pot until it got that perfect golden crunch. Service was friendly and attentive, and I really appreciated that they could pace the course around our schedule. Whether you're in for a relaxed dinner or something quicker, they've got you covered. I'd absolutely come back again.

Absolutely delicious and amazing Wagyu! I did the $125/person Wagyu set course meal and it was totally worth the price for the quality of meat you get. This reminded me of Japan so much. The meat was SUPERB. I would highly highly recommend people try this place out. Service was also great. My favorite was... everything. the garlic rice stood out as a perfect side. And every single piece of meat was so tender flavorful and exactly what Japanese Wagyu is like.

We've been here one too many times and it never disappoints! Love how the quality of the food speaks for itself! Our ultimate favorite and go to is the top premium beef tongue, just Oishii!! The service is normally top tier but this last visit was meh, I'm not sure if it's because we're there often or what. We had the same server more than once and she wasn't as friendly this last visit. Menu is expensive, service should be better, don't you think? The food is a 10/10, going back again and again!

I took my partner here on a Sunday for his birthday. We were seated promptly after checking in for our reservation. We parked in the Ward Village parking lot that is right behind the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly, I told her I was debating between getting the Mizayaki $150 course/pp for the both of us or ordering the Kaka'ako tasting menu of $65/pp (min 2 orders) and adding on the Chef's Taste Mizakaya. She said the Kaka'ako tasting menu is already a good amount of food. I thought that ordering in the ladder way would allow us to try more things while still experiencing the A5 Waygu, so we went with that. Everything came out promptly, the salad and kimchi was refreshing. The seared Washu Beef was a good start to the course but wasn't too memorable. My partner got the seaweed soup and I got the spicy soup. I would recommend the spicy soup if you like a little bit of spice, as it had almost the same ingredients as the seaweed egg drop soup, but either one was very enjoyable. The mixed entrails from the tasting menu wasn't very good in my opinion, all very chewy and hard to enjoy. The beef tongue and hanging tender for the washu beef was very good, I would recommend. The flank steak, bottom flap, and kalbi washu beef was also good but wasn't as tender was the tongue and hanging tender. On to the main event, the Miyazaki Wagyu chef's menu, the cuts were all so flavorful, fatty, and tender. I would rank: filet mignon, rib roll, chuck rib, sirloin, then liter meat. The liter meat and the sirloin was a bit too fatty for me. The chuck rib was on the verge of being too fatty, but it was thin so it didn't feel like overkill. They ended the meal with a nice cup of hot barely tea and gave us a complimentary cheesecake for my partner's birthday. The sparkler on-top was cute and a nice touch. Overall, I would really recommend this spot for any special occasion. If I was to come back, I definitely would rather get a mix of selective washu and waygu beef cuts to not be overwhelmed by the fattiness of the A5 wagyu.

Happy hour menu available for an hour (:

Is there a private room for bigger groups?

Aloha. Thank you very much for your inquiry. There is no private room at Kaka'ako location, but there is a private section in the back of the restaurant that can accommodates 16-21 guests in 5 separated tables. At our Waikiki location, there are…

    Lunch special on weekends?

Yes. They serve lunch specials on weekends

Should I be making reservations since I'm coming from Kauai and only have specific day available in early May?

    Absolutely

If we do a set meal where we pay per person, what is the pricing for children?

Hello is their corkage fee if I bring my own wine?

iirc there was either a $30 or $35 corkage fee. best to call them to confirm

We were recommended to dine here as I heard the beef is excellent. I have a child with severe food allergies (egg, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish/fish) and was wondering if you could accommodate?

Yes beef is perfect!! Just let them know your child have allergies , before serve the meal.…

Has anyone else experienced them asking for your credit card for a reservation and going to charge $50 per person for any cancellation?

I have never heard. But the other restaurant do Large party or weekend dinner time or holiday.…

Hi! Are you guys booked out for a few months? Trying to figure out when to make my reservation

I don't work for them, but when my wife took me she used Open Table only two weeks out. That was pretty recent so I don't think it's gotten way busier since then.

    Can you order ala carte?

    Yes

    Is there a lunch menu?

I think lunch and dinner has the same menu.

    What is the corkage fee?

We accept only bottle of wine. The corkage is $30 per regular bottle

Do they do same day reservations?

If you call and there's space available...

Do they take visa or mastercard?

Yes, they accept all types of credit card including Visa and MC.

    Do they offer gift certificates?

    Yes, we do.

Does everyone in the party need to do the beef set. we have a vegetarian?

This is a difficult question to answer. Each person can order a different set or order a la carte. However, most of the food at Han No Daidokoro is meat. There are only a few dishes suitable for a vegetarian (3 salads) so I would call them to see if…

Any All You Can Eat here?🤤

No. There are three set menus for people to choose from, $85/pp (Washu beef), $120/pp (washu beef and Miyazaki beef set) and 150/pp (full Miyazaki beef set). You can also order a la carte

Are all the Japanese meats fatty with a lot of marble? Do they have some leaner cuts as well?

Yes, they offer three grades of beef. And, some cuts are leaner than others. However, you go to Han No Daidokoro for the best, most marbled beef. It's the reason you go there.

    Is there outdoor seating?

No they don't. It's all indoor.

Does Han No Daidokoro honor OpenTable reservations? Just made a reservation on there and wanted to make sure it went through.

    Absolutely they'll honor opentable Rez.

Where can I park my car?

Parking is available behind the restaurant, Whole Foods, or at the South Shore/TJMaxx parking lot.

If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.

I was just skipping around town exploring wanting to check-in to as many places as I could like the responsible Yelp elite that I am and then I find this amazing hole on the wall speakeasy. The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.

The good: shrimp dumplings! Freshly made, great flavor! Combo appetizer plate was good also. Good quantity. The live music. Good vibes, even tho a little loud. Could be better: wine list was minimal. But I guess you don't come to Hawaii for the wine right? Short rib was one average to small size. Nothing special. I wouldn't order again. Server was ok at the beginning, but not sure why it slowed down so much after about 45 minutes even tho the place wasn't too crowded. Not good: dessert. We ordered the Mac nut espresso cookie. We were thinking it was a cookie skillet or at least a big soft warm and gooey fresh cookie. What we got were 2 thin, small, stale, crispy-ish cookies and some overly sweet runny cream sauce on the side. It took about 20 minutes to get these from the time we ordered them. Not worth the wait. Service got really slow towards 9 pm and the place wasn't that crowded by this point. Overall I don't think we will return. Service was pretty slow at the end and the food was just ok.

The cocktails that are served are also extra delicious. They all sound super funky, but I challenge you to try them all. It was a mixed bags of flavors that cater to a lot of different taste buds. There would be one I really like, but my friend wouldn't like it. Then she would like the next one, and I wouldn't like it. It wasn't an overall standard, it was how the drink mixed with the persons taste buds. That was something I enjoyed. I could sit at this bar for ages and just have the bartenders make me what ever they want. Also the bartenders listen to options and keys that you like. I let one of them know I like a mezcal smoky, but give me something different then the usual. He gave this amazing mix that I honestly couldn't describe, but I for sure loved it. Can't wait to take more of my friends and try all the cocktails again!
