Food 2/5 Drinks 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 Went here for HH on a Thursday. Made a reservation but we came by right when they open ~5p. Fairly empty. I'm sure they get busy as the night goes on Tried their signature Smoking Pig. Pretty good actually. Even better with the HH deal. Solid 4/5 I wish I can rate their pasta higher but it just wasn't as good as expected, especially for the price. Bolognese and macnut pesto were below average in my humble opinion. It just did not taste up to par or as expected for the $$$. Service and ambiance were good, as expected. Would like to try their other cocktails, however. So I may swing by again.

    Smokehouse rib biscuit & gravy

We came here for brunch on a Sunday since we had a gift certificate and wanted to finally check this place out. We were some of the first few guests and got seated upstairs. The restaurant had a cool, laid-back atmosphere. I ordered the smokehouse rib biscuit & gravy while my boyfriend went with the French dip. When our food arrived, we were impressed by how big the portions were. Unfortunately, the food itself was just ok. The smoked ribs on my plate were tasty and kinda tender, then after a few bites of the biscuits with gravy, I realized the gravy wasn't my favorite. I also tried a few bites of my boyfriend's French dip. It was decent overall, but the cheese or sauce had a stronger, more pungent flavor than we're used to with other French dips. The fries were really good though and ended up being our favorite part of the meal. Our server was great, friendly and checked in on us throughout our meal. Overall, with brunch here being a bit underwhelming, this place was a one and done for us. It seems like Surfing Pig is more known for dinner though!

Absolutely amazing New York Steak. The mushrooms were also really good. Our server, Sarah, was amazing. They had a really cool light on the table that can change color on touch.

This is hands down one of my favorite local spots. From the manager to the bartender to the hostess, everyone truly embodies the aloha spirit--warm, genuine, and welcoming. You can feel how personable they are the moment you walk in. The truffle fries are a must--perfectly crispy without being greasy, with just the right crunch in every bite. For drinks, I always recommend the Smokin Pig (yes, it's bacon-infused and even comes with bacon!) and the Tequila Does, which is light, refreshing, and super easy to enjoy. If you're in the Kaimuki area, this spot is an absolute must-visit.

This was such a special experience! My first time going to a speak easy. IYKYK! Must call to make reservations. Room is small and intimate. Can seat 6 people (3 on one side on the back, 3 on the other side in the front). Tapa style with select items that were enough to feed our party of 3. Cocktails tasted delicious and bartender was generous with the alcohol. We plan to come back again and bring other friends. I highly recommend this venue! Bonus was our server Sara was so pleasant and welcoming! You must try the sweet cocktail named after her Sara's smile!

The last time I came to this location, it was something else. I had a great martini and wanted the same. But lo and behold, Kono's moved here and I'm glad they did! Granted I liked their little storefront on Kapahulu, but parking was always a challenge. This spot is great! Friendly greeting, we sat at the bar. We made it in time for happy hour and oh look, boozy milkshakes! Yes, please!!! We also ordered some kalua pork nachos which were very good! I wish I was hungrier cause I would've ordered something else. The staff was really great! And I think the owners were there too! It is a great space! It has changed over the years, but I think this one is for the long haul and I can't wait to come back! Mahalo Kono's!

Little departing gift for dining in!

Such a amazing tasting experience had here! The ambience was great, the drinks were bomb and the food was AMAZING! Such a great service experience by Amara as well - amazing server! 10/10 recommend!!! Even left with a departing gift given from the staff!

I had a great causal time with the best bartenders in kaimuki! Sarah and Ashley tagged teamed my food and drink orders and I was accompanied by a great ambience of people and lights. The bar was dimmed and vibe for the night seems always to be causal relaxation. If you ever make it a dine in experience you won't be dissatisfied.

This place has AWESOME customer service, food, and ambiance, I would give it 6 stars if I could. Customer service was EXCELLENT, starting with my phone call to fix my reservations. Ray was extremely helpful in helping me correct an error I had made using the website to make our reservations and we were able to not only get reservations in the restaurant but in the speakeasy as well. Then there was Callie our waitress, she was bubbly, friendly, and very attentive. She created a warm and welcoming expereince for us and just that would make us come back. The food was SUPER ONO, at IYKYK we had the Midnight Musubi Arancini. I was hesitant to order it as I have had choke musubis over my lifetime and was thinking how different could these musubis be...? But, WOW, it was soooo good. The combination of ingredients filled each mouthful with a mixture of flavors that complimented each other. I would definitely order this again and encourage everyone to try it. We also had the Pork medallions and a kalua pig sampler, they too were delicious and our cocktails were very unique, delicious, and strong. We then moved from the speakeasy to the restaurant and we had the Pele's Pit Ribs and the Tsunami Burger for dinner. The ribs were very delicous, it was a dry rub so very clean and easy to eat with the fingers and the fried rice was tasty. My wife loved her burger and if you look at the pictures you can see why. The ambiance was VERY COOL. The deliberate and cohesive mix of dim red lighting, and comfortable lounging chairs totally created that speakeasy atmosphere. The restaurant portion was quaint, warm, and not too loud creating a good atmosphere for conversing. Overall we were very pleased to have come here, we will definitely come back and bring friends along too. As far as parking...its good. There is a metered parking lot behind the restaurant, no roof so your big 2500 4x4 boat hauler will easily park in it and there are clean male and female bathrooms in the restauant so you can drink and eat up.

Enjoying a glass of fine wine in the hidden speakeasy.

We love the welcoming staff here including the manager, hostess, and waitress. The surfing pig light that shines on the sidewalk is cool. We have a few of our favorite dishes which includes the salads, the bacon appetizer, the ahi and salmon dishes, and the New York steak with crispy onions. The cocktails are also really good, but our favorite is having a fine glass of wine in the speakeasy after dinner. We had such a great time that we will be booking our Family Christmas dinner here.

Adorable decor, and they even invited my daughter to draw a smiley face
    Shayna R.

My daughter and I were strolling around Kaimuki before her dance class and this nice spot offered a generous sample of their sandwich! We had to stop in after trying their yummy sandwich - perfectly flavored with salty ham and bacon, and creamy avocado spread, on soft bread. They also had a grand opening special for their kalua pig bomber ($16 each) - buy one get one free! Wow! And the bomber was so filling and hearty - salty pig, eggs, and potato, wrapped in the tortilla. I stuffed myself with it, but I could definitely share one with a friend next time. The staff were super sweet and generous - offering a coffee and inviting my daughter to draw on their chalkboard. Oops, I shared pix of the cute decor but forgot to get any of the food because I was so excited to start eating and it was so good, I couldn't stop, haha. The salsa they provided on the side cut the richness of the meat and provided a nice spice (tho I regret not trying some of their yummy sounding hot sauces, that would've been good too!). So happy for this local spot expanding into the Kaimuki area. The outside patio area is intimate yet makes it feel like you're part of such a nice community. What a perfect place to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner with a friend!

What are the days, hours for the buffet?

How much is the all you can eat prime rib?

Aloha, our All You Can Eat Prime Rib is $55 per person and includes Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, Au Jus and Horseradish Sauce!

    What is the parking situation?

Lots of free street parking, with a lot behind the restaurant if you can't snag a spot on the street.

Does everyone in the party have to get the all you can eat prime dinner? I have two kids who wouldn't eat that

Thank you for your question. Not everyone has to get the AYCE prime rib but only the guests who purchase it can eat the prime rib.

What time do you close on Saturdays? What time is your last seating?

They close at 11pm on Saturdays and last seating is 1030. Go enjoy :)

What's the difference in menu between breakfast and brunch? I can only find the brunch menu on their website

    Same menu, no difference!

    Is there on-site parking? Thanks

No. There's municipal parking or street parking.

Is the all you can eat prime rib everyday ? Price?

According to a laminated card they have, all you can eat prime rib is only on Sunday 4pm to 8pm.

    Is there a happy hour?

    HAPPY HOUR Monday - Friday: 4:00pm - 6:00pm

I thought they are opened for dinner as well but I see that they close at 2pm. Do they offer dinner?

They are open for dinner. Closed from 2-4 pm. I think they close at 9 pm however the stay at home order for two weeks will have them doing take out only.

I see Brunch Menu has individual prices... please explain?

Our brunch is ala cart and not a brunch buffet.

Can this restaurant accommodate a group of 50?

No. It's a small restaurant. Upstairs has 8-10 two-seater tables. Downstairs is a bar.

Does this place have bottomless mimosas? and also good for brunch?

Yes and yes! They only give you one glass at a time but are usually quick with refills.

I tried the Harmless Hugo, which had a refreshing herbal/floral vibe. Their Kaimuki Cruiser was very tart and citrusy. The corned beef and kalo hash was tasty but a bit salty. East meets West here, with a slightly spicy ma po tofu made with crimini mushrooms, which had a pleasant meatiness. The biscuits were excellent , but the watercress salad could have had more contrasting flavor. Since the dish was already soy-forward, maybe a citrus vinaigrette on the watercress might have provided a nice contrast. Our server was very good and explained all the dishes and specials. That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

The menu has changed to a more tapa style. We went with our two young children & they were very accommodating. We ordered a bunch of stuff but most notable was the Ensalada Salad, Croquette Cordero, Taco Raisu, Karaage Pollo, and for dessert, the Piña Borracha. We ordered some pork and steak skewers. These were ok, I would skip these next time. A little burnt. My favorite was the Ensalada Salad. The crab was sweet and the salsa opaca was so refreshing with the apple foam. Was told to smash the crisp on top and combine it with everything and that took it to another level! So good that we ordered another one. The price of this was so affordable too! The Croquette Cordero was like a mini curry ball with chimuchirri sauce. A little heavy but if you love curry, this is for you! The Taco Raisu surprised us. The taco meat was so flavorful!! Even though we were stuffed, we kept going back for more. It's like a deconstructed taco & you use the lettuce as a wrap. The Karaage Pollo came with a Cucumber Escabeche. It was so tangy and refreshing, which perfectly cuts through the rich, savory oiliness of the fried chicken. We got the Piña Borracha for dessert and that had a coconut cake, coconut lime mousse, banana lilikoi curd, and pasted pineapple on top. Amazing!! Great way to end the night. I made reservations for 5:45 PM however when I checked in at Pint and Jigger, I was notified that the reservations were for P&J and not the speakeasy which opens at 6 PM. Therefore I believe that there are still kinks to be made with their reservation system. We waited at the bar until it was sorted out. You walk through a whiskey wall and walk upstairs to the speakeasy. They used a lot of the decor from the former location known as Harry's Emporium. We were the only ones for about an hour so we were able to maximize the bartender's time. Max is an excellent bartender and informed us that they are only open on the weekends for now. He's the only bartender and they are still working out staffing issues. No food at the moment. The theme is New Orleans/French. The drinks and music all have that vibe. The room is dim but not too dark. We left around 7:30 PM when two other couples showed up. We will definitely be returning.

Best to make reservations, especially later in the night. Got lucky and sat at the bar…read more Food was good. I got the burger and mushrooms appetizer. Drinks were tasty. Well made. There's a speakeasy inside the restaurant. Hostess said it's by reservation only and these no food.

What keeps me returning is all what I mentioned above, but also the STAFF! Joe, Jessie, Kelly, Sheena, friendly hostesses, pizza cooks and the list goes on. I always feel welcomed and taken care of. I like the rotating drafts. Air-conditioned indoor and also fresh-air outside patio seating. Clean and bright interior. Lots of parking in the lot. They do take-out.

No menu offered, no water. . .it was like we didn't exist. I looked up the menu online. Eventually, someone stopped to ask us if we had ordered. What threw me off was that the party sitting to the side of us was treated completely differently by the other bartender. They were greeted immediately when they sat down and automatically given water and asked repeatedly if they needed anything. My party was pretty much ignored once we placed our order. No water, no checking in. . .we went back to being invisible. I would have just assumed that was standard service except for the disparity in treatment. And it's not like I behaved badly or was rude to warrant this treatment, so I find myself perplexed at being ignored so comprehensively. First time experiencing something like this. Posting in case others have same experience and it wasn't a fluke.
