So fun and great drinks! We went to Muck and Fuss next door but they had a 1 1/2 hr wait so we were told we could go next door to get cocktails. They were packed for the holiday weekend but they were kind enough to welcome us in and find us a place to sit in the A/C. We got fabulous, attentive service. The drinks were really good and refreshing. The time flew by and our table was ready next door and since the two places have the same owner we were allowed to take our cocktails next door to Muck and Fuss instead of having to rush to finish our drinks! Terrible service last night for my best friends birthday. We had reservations and it took an hour for our entire table to get their first orders of drinks. Waiter was tall, long curly hair, guy with glasses. We ordered three martini's and two Mich Ultra's. Worst service ever, really put a damper on her birthday celebration. read more

I returned with my wife after the stellar visit the last time. The place was busy last time we went. Not this time. We discovered they did away with their happy hour. I believe this had to be why it was not busy at all compared to the last time. The first time, the service was topnotch. This time not so much. Our server was not attentive. I waited so long for a new drink that I place my empty bottle of beer in my glass to make it obvious. I had to walk up to the bar to get another drink. The food was good even though my meal was overcooked. I was eager to come back after the last experience. I will not be returning. This was a special place to me but without happy hour discounts and mediocre service, there isnt a reason for me to return. I can always go to The Faust instead. read more

This place has atmosphere! If you're visiting New Braunfels it's a fantastic place to get a drink after dinner. I think I enjoy going to Sidecar on a cold, dreary night. I feel cozy and warm, the booze probably helps with that warm, fuzzy feeling. The drinks here are curated cocktails that change seasonally and are good. I wonder if some of the cocktails are a little too fussy for me and tend to order off menu drinks as well. Five stars is for the drinks, the cool atmosphere vibe and the MUSIC!! SideCar is in the historic Prince Solms Inn. In true speakeasy fashion you go down a flight of stairs and enter the lounge. We decided to stop here in Downtown New Braunfels for a drink and an appetizer. We ended up staying for multiple drinks and over 2 hours of jazz music. The gentlemen providing music were Dane Bonecutter (bass), Kenneth Davison (piano) and Nick Chacon (drums). They were fabulous. After about an hour and a half they were joined by a saxophone player and a trombonist. It led to an even more enjoyable night. The drinks were good. We stuck to whiskey, bourbon and a smoked old fashioned. An extensive selection of bourbons and whiskeys was available. The food menu was limited to appetizers. We ended up trying several including the chili lemon shrimp, tostada ceviche and crispy sweet potatoes. The food was decent, portions on the very small side but due to the great music, that did not dampen the experience. I highly recommend coming in for a drink and music (before or after dinner). Live music is available from Tuesday - Saturday night. read more

The ambience was good and the service prompt. We went in for a drink and ordered a margarita, which was just ok as it was a little bitter for our taste. We got our bill and noticed a separate amount under the drink charge...when we asked our server what it was for he said the margarita charge was for the base ingredients, and the additional charge was to mix it. I don't know if all the drinks are priced like that we won't be back to find out. read more

I've been to this wonderful speakeasy-feel underground bar a couple of times now and I notice something new every time. The atmosphere is incredible. You can be casual or dressy here and feel at home either way. Fridays and Saturdays are steak night and the steak is juicy, well-cooked to order, and perfectly seasoned. You can tell they make their own Caesar dressing and it is delish! Their drink menu is extensive and has a little but for everyone's tastes, from beer and wine to all kinds of liquor and even Mezcal! So glad we got clued into this hidden gem in New Braunfels and it is one of our regular date spots. read more

By far our favorite spot in New Braunfels. The service is spectacular; every person in the place is friendly and knowledgeable and happy to be at work, which says volumes about the excellent management. The quality of the drinks is unmatched by any other place in town, in originality, variety and execution. We almost never order from the menu; we can just tell whomever is serving us that night what mood we're in and they always come up with something unheard-of and delicious. My advice is, don't bother getting on the list if you aren't young/thin. My husband and I have been to this place a couple of times in the past and had a good time, but those visits were during off hours and we didn't have trouble getting a table. This evening a band we like was scheduled to play from 8-10pm (they were originally scheduled for Friday night, but at the last minute it was changed to the next night). We showed up at around 7:45 and were told that there was "no room" but we could get on a list. We glanced at an empty two top in plain view, but agreed to get on the list and were told we were fourth. We gave the employee my husband's phone number and walked to a nearby coffee shop to wait, constantly checking his phone. Usually when we sign up for a wait list we get a confirmation text or something, but we did not. After 45 minutes we went back by to check where we were on the list. The employee we'd given our phone number to said he'd called 3 times and then removed us from the list, and read our number back to us. It was the right number but we had received no calls (we are familiar with being phoned for waiting lists and this has never been a problem before, we did confirm that his phone was on/working at the time). We don't deserve to be lied to. We dressed up for a nice night on the town listening to a band we like, but apparently that was not enough for this person to do his job and actually call us. The reason that I think our age and size may have played a part in this is that some young, thin friends were also on the list at the same time, and actually received a phone call and were seated. We will try to go back eventually but will be sure to make a reservation since it's less likely that we will be judged by our appearance that way. We got food and drinks somewhere else instead and tried to make the best of it, but we were really looking forward to seeing the band that was playing this evening. read more

My husband and I discovered this place by accident while staying in NB, and had such a great time. The bartenders were super friendly and very knowledgeable, and the ambiance was great. If you're looking for an intimate, fun, upscale place for classic cocktails, this place is a must. Their spirits list is extensive and they have a nice wine list as well, plus a few well-chosen beers. We also had some delicious mac and cheese from the kitchen. We sat at the bar, but there are plenty of cozy spots to tuck away with a date or a group if you want more privacy. If you're heading to New Braunfels, add this spot to your list! Very nice little bar. At first glance we didn't realize we had passed it up. It's in the basement of an old historic home. Ambiance was perfect. My husband and I sat at the bar and the one bar tender that was attending to us was very attentive and stroked up a good conversation with us. Visited last month for a pre-dinner drink with some friends. Great service. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. While the location is terrific, if you don't know where to look, its easy to miss this place. That said, once you step inside, the vibe is casual but stylish in a typical Texas way. We were greeted immediately, and shown to a corner lounge area. The place was moderately busy, but the staff did a nice job of spacing guests out so nobody was seated immediately next to another group. This seemed on purpose...and was a nice touch. Its definitely annoying to be seated with several other bustling tables while half the tables in the place sit empty. Kudos to the management (or staff) for having the awareness to give guests space when its practical. Our seating turned out to be perfect. It offered a view of the entire restaurant, but was set as far from the bar as possible. So, aside from the occasional check-in from the staff, we felt like we had the plac eto ourselves. Our waiter did a great job of coaching us through the menu and options, asking about various aspects of our taste preferences. In the end, we all chose house designed drinks, based on his recommendations. And, to our surprise, ever one of us enjoyed our drink. Everyone didn't necessarily like each others (though I liked all of them) but we each liked our own, which we found to be a testament to the waiter's effort to match our tastes to drinks. When it was time to go, the waiter seemed to be near by at exactly the right time. Not sure if this was happenstance or because he was paying attention. Regardless, it worked well...we paid and and were on our way quickly. Looking back on the experience, the only negative any of us had was that 4 of the drinks on the 'house cocktail' section of the menu were unavailable...that accounted for about 40% of the options. If the menu were huge this would have been no problem. But they only listed 8 house cocktails. Hopefully on our next visit they will be able to make all of the house cocktails. ...we will most certainly be back. read more
