These folks aren't following any of the protocols prescribed by N.C. Department of Health. They're employees are not wearing masks. When we picked up our food from the parking lot, the girl did not wear a mask and when I asked her if that was because she was outside, she said no. No one is required to wear a mask. Great pizza spot..I strongly suggest you come when it's not busy..my server was great when I arrived..but kinda got overwhelmed when she got sat with three more tables..the chicken wings were great..I got the five piece..the pizza was good..but the pepperoni was kinda greasy..will have to go back and try some of their other entrees..the table across from me raved about the lasagna..a large specialty pizza will set you back anywhere from $22-$28..parking in the front can be difficult when it starts to get busy..but def worth a try.. read more

Was recommended by friends. There's a rather sore need for good pizza in the upstate. We stopped in and loved the old-school pizza house vibe. Smells and all. We ordered the wings, which were crispy and sauced perfectly with a homemade hot sauce. We ordered a regular crust extra cheese pizza with pepperoni. Probably the best pizza we've had in the upstate so far. The other items on the menu looked great, too. Definitely worth the stop. read more

Sure, it's not particularly offensive, but it's not very good either. I'd liken it to it a soft floral wallpaper - not terrible enough to warrant complaint, but not good enough to put in my living room. It just IS. That's the nature of pizza, I guess. Even when it's bad it's good. Still, I cannot name any pizza I've had that was worse than this pizza, so I guess this is the worst pizza I've had. Stick to pizza. We love their specialties but instead I thought I'd try the eggplant Parmesan last night. What a disaster and they knew it because it was buried under pasta and sauce. You could tell it was prepared a day or so before and then just reheated, covered in undercooked linguini and a thin, tasteless sauce and sent out with a prayer...to satan. Having lived for about 20 years around Chicago it can be hard to find good pizza in this area but Sidestreet is one of the better spots. They can be hit and miss but the misses are not by that much. The pizza has good flavor but the dough can be a little tough all in all for this area it's about the best you can get. read more

I remember Sidestreet from when it was just a little hole in the wall on.. you guessed it.. a side street. The place had maybe 6-7 tables and was packed every time my family went inside. Now it's much larger and it seems that people come from all around the area to eat here. Sure the pizza is good. As for the pasta, I've never tried it. What I really enjoy are the subs. The warm turkey and cheese sub with lettuce, onion, and tomato with italian dressing is perfection in my mouth as far as I'm concerned. Growing up I enjoyed the pizza. They have the traditional red sauce, but you can also get white pizza, which is a nice change. The parking lot is horrible and you have to drive up the right side of the building which really has no room for cars traveling in both directions. Once parked you have to hike back down the hill. I'd suggest parking across the railroad tracks and walking across. Whatever you do, don't come here on a Tuesday or Wednesday. They're closed. read more

Stopped here Friday night on our way to our AirBnB. We ordered a large veggie pizza with pepperoni added, mozzarella sticks, and half a loaf of garlic bread. The pizza was huge, way more than 2 people needed. But it was good. The mozzarella sticks were not as impressive but passable. But the garlic bread was amazing. We ended up not eating it the first night, but reheated it the next night to have with our pasta and it was lovely. The crust had a light and crispy crunch and the inside was soft and lovely. We waited in queue nearly 40 minutes for a table when an exiting family told us to go to the door on the left which was first come first serve vs waiting on an open table. Great Food! We decided to split a tortellini pasta with vodka sauce and a large deluxe pizza. The tortellini with vodka sauce was amazing, fantastic flavor. It was only $8 and would have been enough for two as a meal by itself! The pasta came with a choice of soup or salad and we chose the enchilada soup--so much flavor! The pizza had a wonderful crust and also totally delicious! This was our first time to the restaurant and it was great to try both a pasta and a pizza. We took home some of both, so it was like two meals for the price of one! I love this place and had been going there for years. Then, I got to know the owner (our kids played soccer together) and it was clear what I already knew....they really want to serve excellent Italian food at a fair price. And, it shows by the line out the door every weekend night. To be fair, I can't stand crowds or lines so I mostly do takeout....or, hit the bar with friends (small but friendly and cozy with lively bartenders). I know their pizza is really good (parents and kids love it) and my wife loves their eggplant parm and the tomato basil salad. But, I always get their hot wings. They use a high quality, better-than-basic wing and an excellent wing sauce that can only be described as a combo of italian spices and traditional buffalo sauce....really good. I would have given 5 stars except that they get so busy that sometimes they don't / can't answer the phone and there is often a mass crowd of people at the door that you have to climb over like a mosh pit to get to the counter. I went here on a Friday night so this might not be the absolute fairest review because basically the place was a zoo. It was full to the brim and we waited 10-15 mins to be seated. The tables and chairs are a little tatty and the floors seem greasy and the place overall seemed a little dark and dingy. I'm not sure if our waitress was part of the family or trained somewhere bizarre but she waited until us and 2 other tables had seated and settled before taking all of our orders at the same time. So think about that for a second. lol The other two tables had 4 adults each and a couple of young kids so that was a lot of drinks and a lot of food all coming at the same time. PLUS, there was no conversation as it was clearly conveyor belt night... This is not a date night venue on weekends. In fact I have to say that we ordered the deluxe pizza at $25, which is pricey. After sodas and gratuity, (yes we left one!) it was $40 for a shared pizza and a ginger ale each. To be honest, the pizza was delicious but upon leaving I had already decided I'd probably not put myself through that again ever and that yes, what was I thinking paying $40 for one pizza and two sodas. LMAO Yes I know they do cheaper offerings etc but I'm really not reviewing the food on this one, even though it was delicious. It's a cattle market that everyone seems to think is worth visiting. I think I'll probably try it again but only for take-out. If you are headed to this venue then try to avoid the Friday/Saturday crowds if you want a civilized experience. We ate at Sidestreet Pizza & Pasta on a Friday night after checking into the Pine Crest Inn up the hill. The parking lot was very full, but we were seated right away. The inside of the restaurant is somewhat cramped and rustic. We decided to split a 13 inch Hawaiian pizza. This was more than enough for two people. The pizza was fine--I liked the high quality of the ham. But I think it could have used more flavor, something tangy or spicy. Next time I would add jalapenos. read more

This place was much better than I had anticipated. I stopped here for lunch after checking Yelp for the best place to eat in town. This won. The parking lot was full in the front. However, ample parking in the back. If your 6 feet 5 or so make sure you duck before you go inside. You'll hit your head on the ceiling. I was greeted by a server who say us in a room on the left side. It was so small that the noise was incredibly loud. Nowhere for the sound to go other than off the walls and ceiling. I had to take a star for that. The garlic cheese bread was good. Came out hot and melted. The marinara sauce was good. The pizza came out hot. Not overly greasy. That makes my heart happy. The half that was pepperoni was really good. The crust wasn't really chewy so it had good texture. The margherita side wasn't a typical margherita pizza. The sauce is white. The tomato was cherry tomatoes. It almost tasted of pesto but I could see the few pieces of fresh basil on top. The service was really good. I would recommend this place. Maybe find a part of the restaurant that isn't so loud. read more

Pizza and wings are the reason we come here. They are both equally delicious. Hot means hot when it comes to wing flavor, but it is so well known they sell it by the jar. Service is normally slow, they seem under staffed at times. Plan on it being packed/probably waiting to sit if you come during dinner hours, but the wait is worth it. Garlic bread is killer if you are looking for an additional appetizer. They always have at least one craft beer on tap. Do not order a mixed drink here, stick to beer or wine. read more

Well, after yesterday, the garlic cheesy bread is no longer a favorite!! Changed the recipe and put seeds on the bread crust, yuck!! Didn't need it, I didn't want it! We are at this place while on vacation in a Tryon, NC. We ordered boneless wings, they tasted freezer burned then fried. We also ordered the pizza and a club wrap. The wrap was good, came with a bag of Lay's Chips. The pizza was really good, the ingredients seemed very fresh. The waitress we had lacked any and all personality. The place was mostly empty and we were seated right on top of the kitchen. To be fair, I think it was a lack of experience. The menu is extensive, pasta, pizza, subs, appetizers, soups..... All this being said, I would give it another shot, we went at lunch, I think dinner time might be the key. read more
