Great sandwiches, coffee, and baked goods. My neighbor friend likes Cheese Plus and told me to come here for sandwiches as well. On top of that, one r/SanFrancisco Reddit thread on sandwiches recommended the Willie Brown Bird here (which I have yet to order, but will someday.) Loved the North Beach sandwich and Cole Valley, as well as seasonal fruit kouign amanns and spinach croissants. There's nice outdoor seating where you can people-watch or read.

Red French cafe tables seating alongside the local Cheese Shop :)

Drink : Coffee They have food menu which I will come back for SERVICE: Friendly barista :) Choppin it up with him about the weather, coffee was quick ATMOSPHERE I'm totally an atmosphere and drawn to this primarily to be able to enjoy the outdoors, nice French cafe small round tables alongside the sidewalk (well this the sidewalk cafe's name) and the city public parklet seating on opposite, where they thoughtfully placed a water dish for passing doggies (nob/Russian hill has lots of dog owners)

Very Slow Service. Ignore customers. Purposefully avoids eye contact. Do not recommend.

I walked past it and got like a block away and was like maaaaaan shiiiiiittt Im turning around lol. I went back and came to get a sanny and Im happy I did, I was planning on eating it on the walk. The place has a lot of choices like a regular deli youd find in the northeast. San Francisco has definitely the best Little Italy as far as choices to pick from and its really big and spread out. I had the Goodfella. Roast beef, prosciutto, salami, provolone and basil. I added the pesto and olive oil and replaced the provolone with fresh mozzarella. Best part was there was an old ass lady who made the sanny and she loaded it lol. The bread makes the sandwich and it was really soft and crunchy. Soo good. I 1000% recommend this place and I am sure she makes all the sandwiches the same!

Wowowow …read more... Visited Alimento twice, my most recent being today -- 6/27. It's a small deli shop that offers gelato, sandwiches, and pastries. They also have quite a large selection of alcohol and cigarettes-- which could make for a good quick pick-me-up. I visited on a Wednesday night and got myself a cone with two scoops of Hazelnut Brownie + Stracciatella -- which were honestly so yummy. It was stretchy and soft and made for a perfect dessert after dinner. You are allowed only two samples though so be wary of your choices. Today, when I went -- I was excited to try their sandwiches, I was looking at the menu and the Alpino caught my eye. Normally, not a fan of bacon but this sandwich was fresh- the mix they offer in sauces and veggies were so good. The sandwich was refreshing to eat with a decent amount of turkey slices they packed in. The bread was also toasted and gave a nice crunch with a soft interior to every bite. The sandwich is admittedly a little pricey, but I would purchase again. Now the customer service, like other reviews may have mentioned was a little off at times? It didn't feel friendly or welcoming at times and when I was ordering I felt rushed or ignored-- I was trying to order two sandwiches to which, she immediately began to make the first one without a single word. I chose to wait until she was done because I wasn't sure when I could let her know about the other order as she was moving back and forth between stations, but she finished and I let her know about the other order to which she said, "How many more sandwiches?" Honestly, that comment did throw me off a little, but I told her this was the last one and she did make it quite quickly. Now, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt as she could be tired or not feeling the best-- but I would say I just wished she was a bit more acknowledgeable toward the customers behind the counter as it did make me discomforted by her lack of response and also the reaction she had when I let her know about the other sandwich. She did at least tell me to have a good day afterwards, so I do hope this isn't going to be a reoccurring incident as I really do love coming to Alimento for the gelatos and sandwiches. (~_~;) I would recommend coming here if you're visiting around North Beach! Alimento makes for a great lunch spot with their sandwiches or a nice sweet treat with their gelato. ^o^

Hillstone is a favorite among Telegraph Hill locals. My go-to's here are their French dip or lamb…read moresandwiches for lunch, and salmon or rotisserie chicken + artichoke for dinner. Good wine and cocktail selection from the bar. I would pass on their burgers though which are mediocre. What makes this place 5-stars is the service and ambiance. Some of their staff have been there for several years, which is a testament to how well the restaurant is run. Since it's along the Embarcadero and close to Fisherman's Wharf, a lot of tourists tend to wander in. And this is probably why their website says there's a strict dress code. But I feel comfortable coming here in shorts and a t-shirt. The staff is always welcoming. I also go to the Los Altos Grill which is the same restaurant as Hillstone. The menu is pretty much the same, but the service at Hillstone is just excellent.

Then they said "please don't move around so we can get the right food to you" which, like fine but that's not the reason they didn't want us to move. You're aiming for a hoity toity atmosphere, we can move plates around. There's an obnoxious but unenforced dress code (no jerseys then someone came in with a jersey and was as seated, no baseball hats...), but the straw that broke the camels back was when the hostess asked me to stay seated while I was seated. My 4 year old needed entertainment as we were paying the bill, we were in our last few minutes there and she told me that I had to stay in my seat. Which I was. They didn't get the order right for said 4 year old: hamburger, no cheese. Showed up with cheese. If you don't want kids in your restaurant, just turn people away. But also you're on the Embarcadero, not in a fancy neighborhood. Overpriced by 20%.

"this is one of the best meals i've ever had"…read more Real words I said today at lunch. As a certified savory girly, this meal hit all the right spots! My friend and ai started with the blackberry slushy drink, which was divine! Like an açaí bowl of it had alcohol. We shared the Caesar salad. It was lemony salty and delicious. Perfect amount of dressing and generous with the croutons and parm! We also shared the burrata pizza. Yum! The bread was cooked perfectly, and the cheese and tomatoes were amazing. The lemon oil was soo good and all came together for a perfect pizza. We each got soft serve to finish, and I got vanilla with the brown sugar cereal topping. Wow! It was delicious and creamy and the perfect way to end the meal. The interior was very open and cute! The staff were all very friendly, including our server Brennan! We will definitely be coming back here again soon!

A buddy of mine recommended it to me, so I had to give it a try. My friend and I decided to order pizza by the slice so we could try different flavors. He got the margherita pizza, and I got the white pie. Both slices were super flavorful, delicious, and had such a great crunch to the crust. I think I personally preferred the margherita pizza a little more, but honestly both were really good. Simple, light, and satisfying. Definitely a spot I'd come back to again!

Despite the crowd, the service was outstanding from start to finish. A special shoutout to Georgette, who went above and beyond to make sure the vegetarian members of our group had plenty of great options and felt well taken care of. The food was exceptional. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana along with a wine pairing recommended by one of the servers, and it turned out to be one of the best parmigiana I've ever had. The flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and paired beautifully with the wine. Desserts were amazing too. The ambience is equally memorable, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for both special occasions and group dinners. Be sure to take a moment to admire the artwork displayed throughout the restaurant, it adds a unique charm to the entire dining experience. I'll definitely be back!

FOOD: 4 SERVICE: 4…read moreAMBIANCE: 4 VALUE: 4 We came here for a Sunday brunch. Though we ended up having sandwiches. I had the Prime Rib dip. It was a good serving of sliced prime rib served on a French roll with creamy horseradish and Au Jus. The sandwich also came with a side of fries. The prime rib slices were tender and flavorful, which made the French dip just perfect. Nothing beats a side of crispy fries. The Zanze cheesecake brought back memories. Many years ago, I used to buy cheesecake from Zanze's store in the outer Sunset area. I can't really remember how the original cheesecake tasted, but I was told that Joe got the rights to the recipe and the cheesecake is made in house. It was a good, light and fluffy cheesecake. Service was attentive and friendly. My water glass was consistently refilled and was never empty. The decor was traditional and full of history. You feel like you've entered somewhere warm and welcoming as soon as you step in. Even though it was our first time here, it felt like we were regulars. We will come back and try this location for dinner.
