Stopped by here for a quick bite since it's always a good idea to have some avocado toast! I ordered the Eggy Toasty which included 2 eggs which choice of poached or hard boiled eggs, paprika, salt and pepper, and micro greens. I wouldn't say the avocado toast here was exceptionally spectacular but I didn't enjoy the sourdough bread that came with the avocado toast. The flavor profile of the avocado kind of tasted more like guacamole. The price is pretty standard for SF prices but I'm not sure if i would necessarily come back for the avocado toast. My bff told me about Avotoasty when they first opened years ago. They had a tiny space where you had to eat outside. I'm so glad they're thriving at their new larger space, that they've had for a while. Recently, my friend and I came by because we needed to sit down after walking the Union Street fair. I got an açaí bowl and it was delicious. I didn't need to add anything to it. The açaí was tart, the honey added a light sweetness along with the bananas and strawberries, and the oats had a good crunch. Also, I ate so much prior and yet the açaí didn't get me into that completely stuffed stage. What I also appreciate about the açaí bowl is that it's simple. I don't mind complicated orders, especially when açaí bowls are customizable. But having so many options can be crippling for me. I like that the base option is satisfying on its own and that they have just a few options to add. As for the toasts, they're yummy! I really like the caprese toasty, which comes with mozzarella, tomatoes, and a balsamic reduction. I love the sweet acidity from the balsamic paired with the fattiness of the avocado, which is always fresh. I get the egg toasty when I want something more savory. You can't go wrong with toast, eggs, and avocados, especially for a geriatric millennial such as myself lol. You got your carbs, protein, and good fats all in one. My only critique is that I wish the toast was thicker. I like a thick toast, especially with toppings such as mozzarella or salmon where a thicker toast would be a more satisfying bite. But in the end, I have to watch my carbs anyway. Speaking of which, that's the concept of Avotoasty - to provide nourishing and delicious food to the people. I love sitting at the window table and people watching on bustling Union Street. This is a popular after yoga spot. Karma Studios, Pad Studios, and Yoga Flow are all only one block away. We ordered on the digital kiosk and got 15% off as a Yelp check-in offer - so appreciated! My sister and I both chose the Salmon Toasty and my friend went for the Acai Bowl. I was a little disappointed that there was only one Acai Bowl on the menu, with the option to add ingredients for $2-3 each. The bruschetta toasty was yummy but I have to admit - the avocado toast here is certainly overpriced. I probably could easily make it at home. Portion sizes weren't that big either - it's like they chose small slices of bread. I felt satisfied after but I definitely still had space in my stomach for something else. Yep, this is Pac Heights alright. What other SF 'hood would have a cafe dedicated to the creation and commerce of avocado toast? I was having my car serviced on Van Ness at 7AM because taking the earliest slot possible makes me think I'm not killing the whole day. Beyond the occasional sidewalk bicyclist, it was a becalming area for an early morning stroll, but not many businesses are open at that hour. Avotoasty opens at 7AM, so I decided to give it a try. It turned out they had ten different toasts (...excuse me, 'toasties') as well as smoothies and bowls, açaí ones too. Given the abundance of choices, I veered to the $9.25 Breckie Toasty because hey, it was 7AM. It was a little more desserty than breckie, but there was no argument (with myself, I guess) that it was delicious. On a thin slice of bread, they spread a good portion of nutella, my choice of three spreads they offered. There was a beautiful tropical blossom placed on top, but I had no idea whether it was edible or not and I was too embarrassed to ask.
