Sid's is a great little stop in El Reno, Oklahoma! Soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with big smiles. It looks like a small diner on the outside but inside it's filled with old memorabilia and pictures everywhere. There is booths, tables and a bar counter to sit at. You can watch the cooks prepare your meal while you wait and some regular customers they knew by name. This diner was featured on Food Paradise, Bizarre Foods, Man vs. Food, Food Network's Top 5 Burgers and The Travel Channel. Our meal was made perfectly and so delicious. The cost was around $30.00 for a party of 3, not bad for the amount of food you get on your plate. We'll definitely be back. read more

I'm not a fan, the only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because my husband and likes it. We both got an onion burger with cheese & husband got a chocolate shake. All I could taste was o we cooked, I mean they were black, onions. I couldn't taste the meat or the cheese & they charge $1 extra for the cheese. We visited Sid's before our son's football game and enjoyed it SO MUCH!! The staff was just as awesome as the food! We enjoyed it so much we ran by after the game so our football player could experience the awesomeness! It was 7:45pm and they close at 8pm. We love Sids! It's always cooked after ordering and worth the wait. Tip: We go through the drive-thru and get our order to go so we can picnic as a fam. (The inside is the size of my closet so we would rather eat outside and spread out a bit. ;) We usually get burgers & fries, but their corn dogs & hotdogs are good if that's more your jam. As sacrilegious as it sounds, this OKC kid had never had a real onion burger before today. I had to be in El Reno this morning and as I was passing Sid's on the way back to the city, I decided to stop for lunch, even though it was only 10:40 AM. I was not disappointed. It was like stepping into a time machine and visiting a different era. There is an amazing lunch counter that clearly hasn't changed since well before I was born. The super friendly staff maneuver the small but quaint space like they have been doing it their entire lives. And still manage to great and chat with each person that comes through the door. There were old timers swapping chances to tell stories of high school football from the 60's and 70's, and treating the group of new young coaches like celebrities as they enjoyed a late breakfast. The entire experience is like a page right out of classic Americana. Things really do feel different in a small town. In fact, as I was leaving an older gentleman stopped me, said bye, and said "you come again, young man, ya hear?" Overall, it is worth a visit, or even a short road trip. And the food is great too, but the portions are huge. The waitress told me that she would Get me a half order of fries because the full order was too much... The fried onion burger was really tasty! It was just my dad and I, and we got there just before the lunch rush on a Wednesday. We sat at the bar, with a good view of the grill. Everything is made to order. The cook smashes a generous handful of onion strips into the patty. It's very juicy and great with melted cheese. When you order a shake, they fill a colored cup, but they leave the metal mixing cup with the rest of the shake with you. Fries are crispy. You definitely want to anticipate the rush because there isn't much room on the inside. There was a toddler in a high-chair set OVER a bar stool, happily munching on a corn dog. read more

I do not like to give out 2 star reviews but unfortunately I must give Sid's a 2 star. This diner is a small hole in the wall, and considered a local favorite famous for their onion burgers. We decided after a 14 hour drive on our road trip from WI back home to AZ, and rumbling bellies to stop into Sid's. It was a Saturday evening and the place was hoppin'. There was not one place to sit and we were crowded as we had to wait in the door way while the waitress cleared off a table for us to be seated, at first I wasn't sure if she was going to even wipe off the table, but after we sat down she came by and wiped it down. She took our drink orders, and when she brought out my Diet Pepsi, it was filled to the top with ice, with very little room for the soda. I ordered a B.L.T on wheat toast. I was disappointed in the sandwich, the toast was toasted perfectly, but that was about it. The bacon was too crispy, it had shredded lettuce, and the tomatoes were mushy. After my first bite, I discovered that there was no mayo on the bread, and I found a bottle on the table, and added some to my liking. The sandwich came with 4 dill pickle slices as a side. I tried some of my husband's onion rings, and they were okay. Another reason for the 2 star review would be the fact that the grill cook was cooking the food without wearing gloves, or washing/sanitizing hands after handling the food, especially the raw meat (This is basic food handling safety that most people should know as it is common sense..) The diner itself besides being small, was fairly clean, well lit, and the wait staff was friendly enough. After my first 5-star rating, I learned a lesson; there is always room for improvement. Never again would I give a fiver! Hehehe! My Bride and I, are on our first day of storm chasing, but there's nothing but blue skies to be had. We decided to go food chasing...why not? Time to break out the YELP MACHINE! I NEVER put onion on my burgers, but I had to give it a shot...was not disappointed. My wife ordered the Regular Deluxe, and I ordered the King Deluxe, and fries. We both had a root beer...a Budweiser would have been great...hmmm. When our order arrived it was fresh out of the oil/hot off the grill. The pictures of the King does not do it any justice. The patty was as big as my face. Our burgers were cooked medium to perfection, and dressed with fresh lettuce, and tomato, pickles on the side. Our server was absolutely attentive, without "hovering", and I can only presume he was the owners son. The owner, Marty, came over to chit-chat, and was blown away by the fact that we drove from Louisiana, specifically to eat at his diner...and boy, am I glad we did. This joint hit it out of the park! Wish I could give it 6 stars! Classic American Diner, right on the corner of Route 66. Sid's is known for the Original Onion burgers Friendly people, superb atmosphere, and great american road food. I enjoyed my visit to this Iconic location where a lot of the Food Network Shows have visited over the years. Made a stop by Sid's after camping at Red Rock Canyon. Breakfast King burger with cheese and tots was just as tasty as expected. They have expanded their menu since my last stop so I was pleasantly surprised with their breakfast menu. Eggs over easy were spot on, hash was buttery and the bacon was thick and to die for! So we heard about this place in a magazine article describing iconic regional places to eat. On a recent trip we were on Interstate 40 and I stopped by. Now this is the deal with us- I do not like raw onions, and my wife loves onions, but does not like hamburgers. Well, this meeting of onions and burgers was almost like the "peanut butter in my chocolate, chocolate in my peanut butter" type of thing. I loved my cheeseburger, and my wife liked her cheeseburger also. She did not like it as much as I did, but she almost finished it. The fries were also good, but the burgers with onions stole the show. I wish we would have been back on Interstate 40 on the way back, but we came home a different route. We used the drive thru, it must be fun to eat at the counter to watch the preparation. This is a decent little place. It's tiny inside so don't be shocked if there is literally no place to sit. They are kind of expensive but I stop there every time I go to El Reno. I'm really particular about onions on my burger so I don't get the onion burger from here. To me, the onions are badly burnt. Half of them are black and dry, and the other half are almost raw. They say they are caramelized, but caramelized onions should be golden and slightly soft with a slight crunch when cooked correctly. The burgers themselves are really good. The fries are good too and all the employees are friendly. Bring cash or a check. They don't accept any debit or credit cards here. read more
