First off, let me say that the older gentleman was super kind and a sweetheart to me. I have only been to the shop three times!!! I was not treated horrible or anything just treated like I was kind of dumb.... BUT the way the other employee talked about the customers as soon as they walked out the door, was despicable!!! I don't know a lot about firearms, so I ask some questions that probably may sound dumb, so, after hearing the way he talked about the other customers and how we talked about the person on the phone as soon as he hung up, made me feel sick to my stomach!!!! When I told the guy helping me that I was friends with another person that owns a gun shop. He went onto ridicule that other person's gun shop and talk trash about them.... when I ask about a firearm that they didn't have in the store and inquired if they could order it, the guy spent time trying to explain to me why I didn't want the gun I wanted. On the last trip I was in the store there was a big case of ammo on the table in the center of the store, a guy asked the employee how much and the employee answered something like "Do you know how hard it is to find 762 right now? I might just keep it for myself" If you want a negative attitude and to feel depressed about the state of politics in Ca go to this store you will get an earful of complaining.... The slogan "Shop local" is an overrated statement when it comes to Sierra Gun Supply in Auburn. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 20 minutes to Rocklin or Roseville where you will be greeted as a customer and most likely save money. This dude behind the counter must really hate his job. Like others have said, you get treated like crap before you even speak. Dirtly looks, cold shoulder, whole nine. Here is my visit. "Hey sir, you got any 9mil range ammo?" "Yeah we got box of 50 and 100" "okay can i get a box of 50 please?" Then this dude just starts having a convo with someone else in the store, ignoring me completely. His conversation with the other person in the store? "I don't even get soy, shit ain't for men, only woman drink that stupid shit" so I politely corrected him and walked out. (My kid needed soy to survive) Dude is angry and sexist for some reason. Maybe take a vacation and come back with a better attitude? Work out the kinks with your significant other? No sweat off my back, I can get my range ammo elsewhere. I bought a lower online and it listed this shop for the transfer. I showed up and it was that nice feeling as if you should not be in there when someone finally helped me out they got extremely pissed at me as I chose their shop to do the transfer to pay for a custom lower. They told me to buy one through them and didn't have any in stock. I drove straight to Sacramento Black Rifle and they helped me out with care. Horrible experience. read more

Just mov d up here and had to find a dealer that would help with a private dealer transaction. Very friendly and helpful with no crazy extra pricing. Came back for help on a couple of my rifles. I was very happy with the service they provided. One rifle could not changes as what I wanted the other rifle could. In both cases I had great communication between the gunsmiths. I just turned 21 and am far from knowledgable about firearms. However I knew what I was looking for and they had the 1911 I wanted. The owner's son was very helpful and informative and talked to me at my level of knowledge. After 10 days had passed I went to pick up my gun and he installed my grips that I had purchased as well, even called the factory due to the fit being tight and figured it out for me. 5 stars. Word to the wise...never go to Sierra Gun Supply in Auburn. The owner is one of the biggest jerks and arrogant people I have ever met. He has product in stock but actually refused to show me because it was too much work for him to go over the actual powder and primers he had behind frosted glass. I asked to write down the numbers so I could confirm load data right there and make a purchase. I have been going to this gun shop on and off for over 15 years. My Dad took me there for paintball stuff and I have continued to go back many times. I've bought a couple shotguns there and am now in the market for a concealed carry pistol. I went in today and Dwayne was there (the owner) I told him that I was looking for a cc pistol and what his opinions were. Just like every other time I have been here, he gave me very good advice. He knows what he is talking about and doesn't spend a lot of time with facts you don't need. I may not buy every gun here but I definitely will when the time is right. read more

I read every Yelp review before I entered Sierra Gun Supply. I was with my father and we were shopping for ammo. When we entered the store, it took Ken 3-4 minutes to ask us if we needed help because he was assisting another customer. We told him what we were looking for and he did not have the item in stock at the time. The store itself has a nice old school mom and pop vibe, Ken was attentive, friendly and competent. As an avid Yelper I would like to put on notice that Sierra Gun Supply has 10 reviews currently not recommended. 9 out of the 10 reviews are 4 stars and above! These reviews should most definitely be reflecting the stores rating. Minus 1 star for item not in stock. read more

What a petty owner!! I bought a holster on a Thursday, when I got it home and tried it with my concealed carry it did not work for me, it was very noticeable and not something I want to use for an everyday carry. I took the holster back on Saturday, still unused and in original package with receipt. The owner explains that they only do exchanges, but they had no other holsters for a Shield in stock so he essentially said "tough luck". How petty, I am new to the area and and avid gun enthusiast and they lost a customer for life over a $35 holster. I own a business myself and would never dream of flat-out denying a return just because, it's no wonder they are a tiny store that will never grow into anything substantial. Shame on you for such poor business ethics Sierra Gun Supply I will never give you my money nor recommend you to anybody. read more

First, I cannot refute any of the other negative comments. I have not used any of their services mentioned in most other reviews. What I can tell you is I had to get an FFL transfer from the east coast a number of years ago. Because of the crazy laws in the PRC, very few FFL holders were willing to do a transfer. Sierra Gun Supply was. Without them, I would not have my firearm. Thanks to them for doing that, when others wouldn't. read more

Took a shotgun into the store for repair. They fixed one problem but couldn't fix the 2nd issue. The owner wouldn't take payment for his labor, just the part he had to buy. You don't find that kind of pride/honesty very often. Any time i need a gunsmith I will start here first. read more

I give one star because a no-star rating isn't available. I bought a used rifle from this guy a few years ago for my son as a family tradition. We hadn't taken it out for a couple years, but when we did, I realized the front sight was bent. Assuming I bent it, I attempted to bend it back then was going to sight it in. Of course I broke it when I tried to bend it. Anyway, as I looked further at the front sight, it became apparent to me that the sight was bent because the dovetail was machined at an ange. An obvious manufacturing problem. While I bought the gun from this guy, I understand it was used and that he didn't build it, so no harm-no foul, right? I brought it back to the shop and explained what I found and asked him if he could machine a new cut into the barrel or if he knew who could. He basically berated me to make me look like an idiot, thinking I was trying to get something for nothing from him. Certainly not the case. While a bit disappointed, the truth is that if I had checked the gun over appropriately I would have noticed and not bought the gun. It was my responsibility and I was just looking to hire his repair service. He told me to take my gun and leave his store. I did. I fixed that gun and have bought 3 shotguns from big 5, two pistols from Sportsmans, and other misc firearms, parts, and accessories in many other establishments. For this guy to wring his hands over the "big box" stores taking over the moms and pops in a small town is ridiculous. I don't mind paying a bit more to support the smaller, local-family owned businesses, but don't be a jerk! Never again will I darken your doorway. read more
