Back in the day, if I was looking for a decent sporting goods store, I always ventured to "Big 5", "The Sports Authority", and even "Walmart". Jump forward to the present day and "DICK'S Sporting Goods" takes the crown for the biggest and most complete selection of anything sports-related. This is a nationwide company that has been in operation since 1948 and since then (as of 2026), they have over 700 stores that are currently operating. The location I am focusing on is at the Stanford Crossing shopping center in Roseville, CA. Located directly off of Stanford Ranch Rd and tucked in between Fairway Dr and Five Star Blvd, this location has been around since mid-2017. What makes this idea is the close proximity to other major retailers as well as the very large parking lot. During the dozen or so times that I have been inside here, I have never had an issue finding a parking spot, even during peak holiday season and busy weekend days. Upon entering, you will notice that the store layout is massive. Soon, you will see how this place has just about everything you might need when it comes to sporting goods. The cash registers/customer service area and the lines for checkout are to the immediate right. Navigating around isn't too difficult as many of the aisles give you the feeling as if you are not bumping into anyone. I also wanted to add that there are two restrooms towards the very rear left part of the store. On any given day, there are dozens upon dozens of employees/staff everywhere; usually they are dressed in a green shirt with trousers and athletic shoes. To put things into perspective, they carry a huge assortment of gear pertaining to all types of sports; baseball, football, basketball, golf, hockey, lacrosse, pickleball, tennis, soccer, softball, volleyball, and much more. You will also find a nice variety of outdoor and camping travel essentials that include tents, sleeping bags, outerwear, and ski equipment. Additionally, their fitness/cardio selection is vast with a ton of treadmills, ellipticals, and everything to get your home gym going. I've purchased a mountain bike here that has been great so far. And let me tell you about their clothing line & shoes; here you will find a wide inventory of men's/women's/kids clothes apparel, sports jerseys, and all types of shoes. During my most recent visit, I needed a comfortable, long-lasting pair of reliable walking shoes. After narrowing down my selection, I finally settled with the Brooks "Glycerin 22" series that provided the support and comfort I was looking for. Also keep in mind for the deep discounts this place offers. These shoes were selling for $164.99 but there was an online Dick's Sporting Goods coupon that were selling these for $114.99. Even better, with every purchase over $100.00, I received a $20.00 of coupon which brought my total to $94.99 + tax. Not bad for a pair of quality walking shoes. All in all, "Dick's Sporting Goods" is a very good above average retailer with an absolutely large variety of options. The only negative thing I would say is that their customer service isn't top notch as the employees that worked in the shoe area weren't the most knowledgeable in answering my questions. Not a big deal since I heavily researched these shoes prior to coming here. I think it all depends on which employee works where. For instance, my bike purchase (back in 2020) was amazing but this experience was just average. Aside from minor things like that, I am still going to give the Roseville Dick's Sporting Goods a respectable four star rating. read more

Dark changing room that often have to wait longer than should for someone to open. Asked to try on two pairs of shoes, two sizes the same shoe. I was brought two boxes of one shoe in each. She had disappeared and there was nowhere to be found so that I could ask for the other shoe. Found another sales person and was told that both of them had a display pair somewhere in the store. I don't know if she expected me to go and find it, but they were the exact same shoe with two different sizes and then they couldn't find the mate for one. And the one that we could find was dirty so I don't know if I was expected to buy a dirty shoe anyway. That's the impression I got when asked. Something about finding another shoe string. I got tired of waiting and decided to go somewhere else with better customer service. One thing, cashiers have been very competent during past visits. read more

If I had an option, I would give them zero star. After lots of back and forth they gave me store credit without including the tax that I had paid, and when I asked why I was told this is how their system is set up. I am not even sure this legal. Nothing beats good ol' fashion customer service. My wife and I tried to take advantage of a promotion, by ordering a new NordicTrak 2450 online through a third party app and Dick's Sporting Goods. After reading some fine print, we realized we weren't able to complete the process Online, so we ventured out to Dick's to buy ourselves a treadmill. When we got to the store, Joey found us looking over the floor model and got us a code so we could try it out. After both my wife and I tinkered with it, running and walking, we told Joey we wanted one. And we also wanted it delivered and setup in our home (part of the promotion). There was a little confusion regarding the inventory, but after some networking around the store along with the store's manager, James, it was determined that the model we wanted was not readily available in store. So Joey got on the phone with the Folsom store and got us squared away with the promotion we wanted along with delivery and setup. Yes we had to travel over to the Folsom store, but Joey and James made the arrangements for us very easy--and James gave us a $25 Gift Card for the waiting and travel we had to go through to get our machine. I came in looking for soccer cleats for my boys. They had a big selection, but not a lot in the size we needed. Luckily, we found one pair in store and were able to order another online. When we checked out, the price rang up $10 more than what we saw online, but the cashier was super nice and offered to price match right awat, which was awesome! This store is HUGE! It's right by the Costco in Rocklin. Large parking lot with plenty of parking. The store is big, bright, colorful and well organized. Several employees stopped to ask if I needed help which was very nice. In addition to all the normal sporting goods things, they have a lot of athleisure clothing from well known brands. They also have the largest selection of Stanley cups I've ever seen... All the Yeti products and lots of Bogg Bags too. It's just not for hard core sports. I purchased a lovely jacket that I will wear anywhere. They have a large kayak area too. There is Kings, Raiders and 40ers merch. Great place to buy a gift for the sporto in your life! Their online ordering is terrible. So is their customer service that answers the 877 number. I ordered a 7 days ago and the FedEx tracking still shows that it is sitting in ASHEVILLE, NC US. I called CS and the first line rep put me on a long hold then said she couldn't help. After 15 minutes, she said I have to transfer you to a supervisor. I asked for a warm transfer so I wouldn't have to repeat name, address, email address, etc. Se said okay. The supervisor Cassandra said I have your order up and wanted me to repeat name, address, etc. I gave her my name and address and she said without phone, email she wouldn't help me. Unethical pricing practices adopted by DSG. The first time I have experienced price is marked off higher. When I checked the sticker price of Marucci Rake club Maple bat, it was listed as $49.99 and it was crossed out. At the checkout, it rang as $69.99, 40% higher than the actual price. When I requestEd to talk to Manager, he wouldn't even bother to come and talk and passed the message stating that price can't be adjusted. If you see any sticker prices crossed out, then you are paying 30-40% higher price than the listed price. read more

This is my sons favorite store. He's 10 years old and he's into sports. This is the place where he goes all of the stuff he needs. He loves going and checking out the new bats he loves that he could actually try them out at the store. This store has a lot of options also for nice tennis shoes they have so many brands and very stylish shoes . When we walk in everybody is very nice and helpful. They greet you every single time you walk into the store. The store is very clean and organize . Last time I went, I had a few employees. Ask me if everything was OK if I was finding everything I needed. Like I said, they're very helpful. I went with my son to buy some stuff for his baseball but, I ended up finding my Stanley cup that I've been looking for and they have been sold out everywhere. I got lucky to find one the last Stanley Cup at this location that is a 40 ounce Stanley Cup. Let's just say mommy was happy!! Came to the store to buy some softball stuff for my daughter and niece. Grabbed a bat some shoes, store was full but we made it through the store with ease. Once at the register I noticed the shoes I got were not the ones I asked for, then Issac asked the back to get the correct shoes. We waited, while we waited we went to ring the rest of the stuff unfortunately the bat we got was a demo. At this point Frank called manager Joe to come assist, it seemed to be a little hurdle after hurdle with that bat. Eventually after an hour of waiting and ordering online we got it figured out. DICK'S sporting goods is the type of place where you can find anything for any sport, which is nice! I love it when we need something at the last minute. For a game or sporting event in general, we know that there is a place that is clean, friendly, and generally priced evenly with the competition so that we can get what we need. They have a large variety of gear from a large variety of companies. They surely lean more on Nike and Addidas, but they are also the main competitors for one another. Nevertheless. There is something about this particular DICKS that I have noticed recently. Living in Roseville, I have noticed an uptick in criminal activity within this facility. It could be the entire shopping row/area, or it could be the retail theft uptick. But there have been a couple of times when I am coming in or in the area, and I hear about somebody or a group of people shoplifting from this store. So at this point, when you walk in, there are anywhere from 5-10 employees waiting at the entrance. It's almost like walking into a club; they are all bouncers. Nevertheless, it doesn't appear to stop shoplifting since we regularly see it on the news. I am not sure what can be done to make this a safer location, but I highly recommend that if you need to do your shopping, you get it done when the sun is still out here; with the increase in theft, you can't ever be too safe. read more

I bought a pair of Hoka and had the worst customer service experience with one employee at the shoes section. The girl acted like I was bothering her when I came up with her to ask questions, as if her job is not to help answer customer's questions. I asked her to get me a pair of shoes from the back and after a while I asked a different employee for a different pair of shoes, somehow the second employee came out at the same time with her. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a pair of cleats for my daughter. They arrived the night before a tournament but had the sensor still attached. The only other pair I had for her to play in were literally broken and she duct taped them to try and push through the day. We were set to arrive at the field early in the morning right before stores opene any I arrived at the tournament and called the nearest dicks to see what I could do to get the sensor off before the first game which was set to start in less than an hour. I spoke with the manager joe who without hesitation asked for the address I was at and proceeded to head over. He arrived about 20 minutes later and removed the sensor! Talk about service! Dick's Sporting Goods stores has brought back that let's play sports again excitement! This was my first time at this location, and I was excited to see what this location literally had in store. The store is a fairly​ decent size, but lacks in on the floor customer service. When I finally found someone that worked there, and asked her a question about stock on the floor, her response was to point towards another part of the floor and essentially she told me to go look. I wandered through the store looking at the various items, and found that they have a nice variety, and a little bit of everything. I have been in some of their other stores that are larger and definitely carry a wider variety of product. Make sure that if you show up here that you download their phone app. It's always great to cash in on various rewards and instant savings. I found a few bargains after much searching, and was pleased not only with my purchase, but the items have really held up under numerous washings. They have a fairly in-depth online site that you may find more bargains and variety. Nearly a month ago I stopped at Dick I was in need for a new pair of base layers & booties for my dawn hours spent on my crotch raft In the fluids of earth. Now, I don't consider myself remotely identical to the definition of "slender" in the slightest, so I was in need of Dick assistance. Wide selection of HOKA shoes however, we were told they were out of stock of every pair we wanted to try on. Got home and checked online and the website said this location had 4 pairs in our size. Hmmm The shoes in the boxes they brought out for us to try on (different brand) did not match the label of the box. Dicks should keep a better eye on their employees to prevent loss. read more

This is now the 3rd negative experience I've had here. I used to be a big fan of DSG but now I go because there's nowhere else to get sporting goods, not because I want to. I buy lots of basketballs. The cashier at checkout asked me if I'd like to get insurance for these approx $35 basketballs for $3.99 each. He said just text this receipt to this number and as long as it's within a year, you can get a new ball for free and then put $3,99 insurance on the replacement ball. You'll never have to pay full price for a ball again. The reason to return could even be that the grip is worn. Sounded like a great idea. Well, the insurance company asurion just rejected my claims for the grip being worn after one and half months of use. Thanks DSG. read more

My son is in all stars and his old bat had a dent in it that disqualified the bat he was using. We just got done with a game headed to Tahoe and we wanted to pick up a bat with no research because when we got back there was another game. We found Alex at dicks sporting goods and he is a true asset to the store. He knew exactly what sizes he should be using from experience and had my son pick out three bats. He hit a few balls with each bat and their machine tells them approximate distance, ball speed, and a bunch of other stuff. In and out in like thirty minutes.
