They were having a great deal on trampolines this weekend. $295 for ALL 14' round trampolines with safety enclosure styles vary. I was charged original price for the 14' round trampoline I purchased with no sale price. When I brought it to the cashiers attention she said it was a mistake in the ad. Only one certain trampoline was included in that sale and they didn't have any in stock. The fact that the ad said ALL with no specific brand for $295 and then charging me full price is ridiculous. I love their deals but if this is how they advertise "by mistake" I don't think I will be shopping here anymore. read more

I don't live in the area but I've been here several times in the past few months to purchase items such as sleds, running shoes, and water toys. Each time the staff has been friendly and very helpful. I'm a big fan of Big 5s since my childhood, and that's a lot of years. So I do appreciate this particular Big 5. The sales team has always been very helpful and all seem to work well together that provides for a pleasant atmosphere. Very family friendly feel. read more

Big Five is successful---because its local, convenient, and has some great sales. When my daughter needed stuff to go skiing, this is one of the places that she shopped for gear. I think she bought most of her things at REI, but its nice to have a sporting goods store in Auburn. read more

I'm a disabled veteran. Suppose to get a discount. Showed them my VA disability ID card to get my discount. She said tks for your service. I paid and look at my receipt when I got home. No discount taken. Not worth the hassle and gas to go back and fight with them. Bet they are told not to give the discount unless caught. read more

So I have been giving Big 5 my business for many years now! I will no longer be shopping there ever again! Bought a box of ammo today. I asked for the a specific size ammo. California law apparently you can't look at the box until you purchase it. So when I got to my car and opened the bag he sold me a way more expensive box and also a box of ammo that is not what I asked for not will shoot from my firearm. I went back into the store not even 2 minutes after the purchase and was told that I need to pay more attention! Not sir I think you need to pay more attention! You sold me something I didn't ask for and that was a 45$ mistake not made by myself! Sportsman's wherehouse and many others will return ammo! I was treated and talked to like I'm an idiot in the auburn store today!! Lost my business one hundred percent!!! Bad customer service to make your customer feel dumb!! Good job guys! I bought an $80.00 air mattress and I just returned it because the built in pump didn't work so I got a "Brand New" mattress right off the shelf. As soon as I took it home and opened the box, I noticed that the bag was stretched and ripped and the DISGUSTING air mattress had pine needles and what appeared to be A LOT of semen (Cum) stains smeared all over the felt material. read more

Blahhhhhhhhh the shoe section has very little size selection most popular sizes are gone always never enough selection and the shoe guys need to stop chatting. Went in for women's winter boots and of course very few sizes. ON LINE is even worse and then it takes forever to get customer service on the phone. Stopped in to check this store out, they have some decent selections. Some nice deals on shoes for men, I noticed. Like $16 for some really cool mountain type shoes. Go there and check it out and find some deals. Selection seems ok but please note that I am not a huge shopper of sports related items so I don't have much to compare it with. read more

I was in Big 5 today when there was a man with Down Syndrome sitting in the shoe department. He was looking to buy a pair of shoes but he didn't have enough money. After talking to a young clerk named Robert he realized he couldn't get the shoes. At which point Robert gave the man the money to buy his shoes. The man was ecstatic. I usually won't do this randomly but it made me pretty upset. Ok so I was in a hurry to buy some worms for my turtle and I go here because I feel they have the best deals on creepy crawlers. I went up to the register where you purchase guns and items of that sort because that's where they have them. I never have had a problem doing that. Ok so I walk up and there's a lady talking to the guy about something, first off he doesn't even acknowledge I'm there.. Ok whatever I'll let that go. He continues to talk with her blah blah blah about bs I'm standing here and he can see that. Just because I wasn't in my best attire I feel like he kind of just disregarded me. So I'm already getting pissed because even I know working in retail and customer service that you should at least acknowledge that there are people waiting. He continues to talk to her non stop about video games and gun violence and blah blah blah. Did I mention I was in a hurry? Ok I was like eff this I'm out. I just left. I mean all he had to do was ask me what I needed, grab the stupid worms and I would have left and let them continue their stupid conversation. Simple as that and he couldn't even do that because he was too preoccupied with the milf standing in front of him. People..if you are going to work with the general public selling retail then just be nice and acknowledge customers! how hard is that?!? read more

Lots of merchandise, but absolutely no customer service. With no one on the floor to assist, customers use the check out clerks for service questions - leaving me standing in line, waiting and waiting to pay. Today after 5 minutes in line I put my merchandise back and walked out of the store. I won't be back. read more

Came in the store to pick up some sleds for our day trip to Tahoe with friends. The store was very organized and well stocked. Went to the registers to be rung up, and was helped by Courtney. Her customer service was not up to par due to her apparent bad attitude. We made it out to the car and we forgot to use our gift card. We decided to come back into the store to make the return and use the gift card, and we were helped by the same girl again. She made it seem like we were a burden to her, which made us feel really uncomfortable. Also, her rude stares at one of the members of our group were absolutely unprofessional. I would love to visit this store again, although I hope we have much better experience next time. read more
