    The room

Don't let the outside fool you. The rooms are very nice inside. New and clean. Location is good and there is a gas station right across the street too. Not sure if there are vending machines. If not that should be put in somewhere. Friendly staff as well which is great.

They have toiletries in case you forget yours!

I arrived and welcomed warmly by the front desk hostess. Check In was easy peasy. Upon entering my room #108, I noticed it was and ADU unit. Sweet! Large entry, beautiful decor, and a walk in shower that easily could fit 2! Lol. That shower the next day was amazing and the Shampoo/Cream Rinse (Lecoupe Brand) awesome! Now breakfast is not what I would have expected and yes disappointing. There was a waffle station and your customary cold cereals, muffins, yogurt, etc. Heat and eat breakfast sandwiches and burritos in place of standard eggs, sausage, B&G. There is also a huge parking area in the back to accommodate RV's and large trailers. I have several photos but they're already on the yelp pics by others. Check out the shower pic! Thanks to all for a great stay.

Tomorrow it will be two weeks since we left Shangri-La. That is what I call the Cottages at La…read moreHonda Park. We stayed at in the Welcome House South. A very comfortable and quiet little cottage. Although, the bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower. There are no tvs in the cottages and the WiFi is a little dodgy. Cell phone reception isn't the best either. I think what I am getting at is that you can really disconnect when you say at La Honda Park. You are forced to communicate with your loved ones. The cottages are only equipped with a microwave. If you want to cook something more robust, there is a communal kitchen in the pool house. Believe me, it has everything you need. Also, there are bbqs in just about every common area. Aside from the beautiful grounds and comfortable accommodations, there is the barn. The barn is probably the best part about this place. It has a foosball table, a pool table, poker table, dart board, and a tv. The back doors slide open to a small seating area overlooking Angel Creek. I can't describe it. You just need to experience. The owner are Jenn and Barr. They were so nice. Once we checked in, they left us alone. In fact, they left the property. Besides my family, there was another family staying in the Main House. They were very nice and welcoming. I can't wait to go back and sit next to the creek and drink my morning coffee.

A gaggle of girlfriends rented three cottages here, as three of us were celebrating our 40th/41st birthdays. The perfect "home base" for staging an attack upon Murphys downtown shopping, dining and wine tasting establishments, or as a leap-off point for local hikes and the gorgeous Moaning and Mercer Caverns. Each cottage is appointed with a gas-fueled faux wood-stove fireplace (easy operation via thermostat), fridge, micro, coffee maker, basic silverware/plates/cups, wonderful showers (great for power-washing off the mud and sweat after a day of rappelling and spelunking!) and extremely comfortable queen beds. Each cottage has its own character, giving the feel of the kind of decor a favorite aunt might select for your family's personal mountain cabin. Extremely clean and comfortable! Hang out by the fire, or chill out on your own front porch overlooking the lawn and creek. Or... ...head over to The Barn, a communal recreation room appointed with an air-hockey table, pool table, kitchen area (including a wine fridge!) and big-screen satellite TV/sat radio. The Barn was recently remodeled, using reclaimed barnwood, corrugated metal (for the ceiling sub-roof) and a pretty brilliant wallcovering that looks like warm old plaster, but is actually recycled craft paper and some sort of natural varnish. Cool! Also, a few relics from the region's mining days. There are board games, darts, books and other stuff to keep the individual, family or small group entertained. There's a large swimming pool (unheated in winter) and a small wading pool adjacent to another community kitchen and outdoor picnic area, and the only thing this area lacks is a hot tub. (Hint, hint!) Finally, there's Cosmo, the biggest, sweetest cat you'll ever want to kidnap. He's not allowed in the cabins, but he'll happily keep you company as you read a book on the porch, or wander up to the beautiful waterfalls behind the barn. He'll also keep score if you want to use the bocce court or horseshoe pits! Parking is limited, so don't expect to haul in ATV trailers or your RVs, but that's about the only con to this wonderful little family-run resort!

I didn't sleep for two nights. The halls and even the rooms reeked of weed, and management clearly doesn't care or can't control it. If you're hoping for a peaceful night or traveling with kids, forget it. The blinds? Useless. They barely block any light, so don't expect to sleep in. And if you're hoping for a nice view to make up for it, prepare to stare at a gas station. This place is a loud, smelly disappointment. Now I get why this area keeps going bankrupt. There's zero pride in service or hospitality here. Plenty of better places nearby--don't waste your time or money here.

Stayed here recently and it's a mostly nice, new hotel but not without some issues…read more The Good: The beds are soft and fluffy. There are robes, nice towels, a mini fridge, nice showers, and in room coffee. The pool area is resort like, clean, and well appointed. There is ample parking, electric car charging, three restaurants across the street, a gas station and convenience store on the corner, and it's all pretty convienently located to neighboring towns and sights. The Bad: Upon check in our room had not been cleaned properly. There was urine on the toilet seat and hair on the bedsheets. We had to request for it to be cleaned again. You have to request housekeeping every day if you wish to have the trash emptied or anything replaced. This seems to be a common hotel trend now and I really wish it wasn't. A couple employees were helpful but the staff seems not very well versed in hospitality overall. There was no safe in the room so I had to carry my valuables with me (laptop, jewelry, etc) in a backpack if I went anywhere. The room had a trendy barn door for the bathroom which looks nice but there is no privacy due to the giant gaps on either side of the door when you close it. Make sure you are very comfortable with whomever you're sharing a room with. The pool was not heated. It is absolutely ice cold and unless it's over 100 degrees outside it's extremely uncomfortable to get into the water. On a similar note, the hot tub was merely warm, not hot. On Monday there was no pool attendant and the bathrooms were locked so I asked the front desk twice to send someone to unlock them and they never did. We were there for about 4 hours and I kept having to walk back and forth to the hotel lobby... which brings me to... The Weird: The hotel pool is located across the street and on the corner. You can get there from the back parking lot though so at least you're not parading over in front of restaurants. The pool attendant on the weekends had a basket of towels to hand out but told us we needed to take them to our room when we were done because - "I don't know. We used to have a bag but we don't anymore." I would suggest getting a bin of some sort that housekeeping can empty once a day. There was a door in our room that we thought was a closet, but when we opened it there were no shelves and no rack to hang clothing or anything else. Just an empty room about the size of an average adult. I decided this must be a portal to another dimension. The location reminds me of a theme park in that it's all quite new, clean and manufactured looking. An ice cream shop, restaurants, a barber and a park like area in the middle with games, etc.... but it's also kind of in the middle of nowhere so it all seems really out of place with it's surroundings. Because of that, I felt like it would be a terrific setting for a horror novel. LOL... Anyway, you certainly could do worse but I can't see staying here again tbh.

Has sauna we didn't try. Reception was helpful and friendly. Free ice cream in lobby. My toddler got 1 daily lol (2 total) Ok: Old furniture esp the recliner, didn't mind it though. Comfortable enough bed / pillow although would appreciate 1 more pillow per bed. Weekend / holiday small town so not many staying on a Mon night.
