Sierra Sage was a great find when I was getting into golf three years ago. I had taken some lessons and was looking for a good practice area before my next lesson and feel like I hit the jackpot with SS. The practice chipping and putting area complete with bunkers as well as a short par three and natural grass driving range are the absolute best for working on your game. The prices for a round of golf are affordable and they keep the course in really good condition, especially considering the high desert climate. The Bar!!! Wow the prices are good, the food is good and the drinks are crazy cheap. Sierra Sage makes golfing affordable and their staff is some of the friendliest people. One word of caution for women; there isn't much of an advantage from the forward tees, but this is still a fun course to play

Great course to play- Has affordable rates with golf cart. Bar/Grill has quick order food- great hot dogs and snack bar style food. Make sure you get a cart with a ball washer and ice chests are at the bar.

What a hidden gem! $12 for a large bucket of balls at the driving range. The buckets are LARGE! There are also multiple dedicated areas for practicing putting and chipping. I am trying to improve at golf, and I'll be back here often to practice. I forgot to bring water, so I explored the food options, and they are plentiful. Even though it was only 9:30 am on a Saturday, the grill and the bar were staffed by friendly people who were ready to serve. There's a full bar, and the canned cold drink section has lots of hard seltzers, beers, and non-alcoholic sodas and sports drinks. The vibe was excellent! The parking lot was packed, so perhaps it's not that hidden of a gem. I had never heard of it before, though! I called Wildcreek to see if they had a driving range, and Don said that they don't at the moment, so I should go to Sierra Sage in Stead. Excellent recommendation! The pro shop dude at Sierra Sage explained to me about the Wildcreek extension plans and was really friendly.

Came here today to play some golf with my fiancé and friends. We had a great time! The T boxes are well groomed. The greens are clean and roll fast. It's affordable compared to other courses. It was $30!!! They also offer food and drinks from the Pub is you call in at the 9th tee and you pick it up at the 10th tee by the clubhouse. The have a good amount of options on their menu but we didn't end up getting anything since we ate before. Unfortunately, it is very flat and open so the downfall is windy weather. Another downfall is the cart paths are gravel. Other than that, great way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon!

The greens are in great shape. I played an early round teed off around 7:20 today. This course is always consistent, and not overly crowded. This place might also have the best practice facility in reno! Driving range is on grass as well!

The course recently changed management. It seems like they are gearing up for improvements with punching and dressing the greens and adding in some limitations on where you can drive your cart. The things I really like about this course: 1. Affordable price 2. Available tee times 3. Beautiful days 4. Great range and chipping facility 5. A few places you can cheat the course if you have a little extra distance 6. The delicious Bar and Grill 7. Affiliated with a youth golf program 8. Offer club fittings and sales The things I don't like: 1. Wind!!! 2. Lots of dead grass around greens where people have driven too close (they are now adding some ropes and posts to keep people off of the grass) 3. Slow play on a busy day. The 3,4,5 complex in particular is really backed up. Don't play here if you are impatient! 4. Sage brush!!! 5. Kind of a plain and undemanding course overall. 6. Private reservation system and not hooked into Golf Now. 7. No trees or shade.

We worked with Ruby when it came to setting up the venue and organizing everything and we couldn't have been more pleased. She was really sweet, helped with set up, and found some lovely extra things for us to use for decorating. Both my husband and I are quiet and shy, and we had wanted to have a quiet reception where we could kind of do our own thing. When we explained this to Ruby, she helped it happen. She and Josh would come and check in on us, to see if everything was going well, but mostly just let us do our own thing. Also, the food was amazing. From what I was told, the golf course cannot hold bigger receptions, but for anyone looking for a lovely spot with stunning views and amazing and friendly staff for a smaller reception, I cannot recommend Lakeridge enough. Both my husband and I were extremely pleased, and the reception was everything we hoped it would be.

(We golfed on 11/9/26) On the front nine, the sprinklers were running on what felt like nearly every hole. On Hole 8, the sprinkler was actually spraying the tee box while we were trying to hit, which made it seem like the course wasn't ready for play. On top of that, I would have to dodge/time the sprinkler as it spun around my ball before I could hit it again. To make matters worse, there were construction crews working inside bunkers while golfers were actively playing the course. It's understandable that maintenance needs to happen, but having crews in play during a round isn't the experience you'd expect on a nice course. At the turn, they were already out of hot dogs, which was disappointing for a busy golf course. The beverage service also left a lot to be desired. The cart attendants weren't very friendly, and one of my friends was standing about 10 feet away trying to get their attention but was completely ignored. They were more into the conversation they were having with each other than good customer service. We gave the cart girl another chance at redemption but she still couldn't figure out how to greet us with a smile. We played with a group that typically golfs here. When we complained about the cart girl, he mentioned she's usually like that... Overall, the course layout is enjoyable, but between the sprinklers, construction, lack of food, and poor customer service, the experience didn't live up to expectations. I hope management addresses these issues because the course has the potential to be much better. If you want a great golf experience, go to Red Hawk!

At least that was the case until the other day... just like the most recent yelp review I just read; I experienced something similar. An absolute jerk off behind the desk. Some guy in a polo and ball cap. The blonde guy that worked there before they closed was an absolute gentleman. He was the best. Now you've got these guys in there that think they can belittle you. I asked a simple question and the hat dude decides to be a jacka** and give me a smart a** answer. I'm not coming to your business to give you my money if you're going to act that way. You sir have absolutely no right to talk or treat people that way. This place claims to be a First Tee course yet all I see is retired folk, not a single kid enjoying or learning the game of Golf. Pretty disappointing and to be honest, probably won't be back until things improve. I'll save my time, money, and go elsewhere; where people show other people respect, especially paying customers. Management better do better cause this is a poor way to reopen the course. I am a grown man, not a child so treat me as such!

Gorgeous Course, Great Starter -- But the Marshall? Not So Much…read more Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno is a beautiful track. The course is well-manicured, the layout is fun and challenging, and the scenery makes for a great day of golf. There were a few wet spots in some of the flat areas, but nothing unexpected -- and certainly nothing that took away from the round. The grounds crew is clearly doing great work. I also want to give a big shoutout to the starter at the first tee -- she was absolutely fantastic. Professional, courteous, and helpful. Despite the courses routine of overbooking and under delivering she was amazing. One of the women in our group was running late, and instead of holding up the tee sheet, the starter made the smart call to send us out as a threesome so we could keep things moving. That's the kind of common-sense approach and customer service that makes a difference. Eventually, the fourth player caught up -- and she, along with another woman we were paired with, were playing golf for one of the very first times. Everyone has a first day, right? And on the course, you can either embrace that, encourage them, and help them enjoy the game... or you can yell, belittle, and embarrass them -- like the marshal chose to do. Knowing we were paired with beginners, we made it a point to let two faster groups play through, even when I felt we probably didn't need to, but wanted to be absolutely courteous. Both groups later found us in the clubhouse and thanked us, saying we handled it perfectly and showed real class. That feedback mattered -- because clearly, no one from course management was interested in hearing it. Despite our efforts to maintain pace and be respectful, the marshal approached us mid-round -- loud, confrontational, and unwilling to listen. He began with telling us we were two holes behind. When we explained the situation -- two first-timers, 2 groups being waved through, and us helping them navigate the game -- his response was, "Doesn't matter. Have fun faster." That's not helpful. It's not professional. And it sure as hell isn't how you grow the game. We were never behind pace except for a brief moment when we stopped the cart girl for drinks and a group caught up -- and we immediately let them play through. We're open to suggestions if we truly did something wrong, but from where we stood, we played responsibly, kept the game moving, and respected those around us. The marshal's behavior was unnecessary and completely out of line. It seems that many of the poor reviews for this course have a common thread: overbooking and aggressive marshals. That was our experience too -- and that's a shame, because Wolf Run has all the ingredients to be a truly top-tier experience. If the staff showed the same professionalism and good judgment as the starter, this review would be five stars without hesitation. But until the culture among marshals shifts from confrontational to constructive, those extra stars stay in the bag.

It gets worse. Can it?! Yup. . …read more UPDATE: I Tried to Let This Go. They Didn't. After my original review about being sold a "custom" set that turned out to be badly fitted with mismatched shafts, I honestly planned to move on--especially if the shop would just pick up the phone and try to make it right. I called. More than once. No call back. No email. Nothing. If they had contacted me, I would have gladly updated--or even removed--my original review and said they stood behind their work. Instead, here we are, and things got worse. When I went to sell the clubs, the buyer pointed out: Two 50° wedges in the set (one graphite shaft, one steel). Why? What I thought was a 45° wedge is the exact same loft as my pitching wedge. So yes--I was sold two pitching wedges as well. Add that to the already mismatched shafts and bad fitting, and this "custom set" is a mess. And still: no response from the shop after multiple attempts to reach them. --- Lessons? Also a bust. I sent my wife here for an 8-week lesson package. When we finally played together, I immediately noticed her grip was way off. I asked her about it--she said, "We never talked about grip. He just kept telling me to swing." Grip is Golf 101. After eight weeks? Come on. When we addressed it in person, the instructor finally said, "Let's take a look at your grip," like it was new information. My wife also told me he was flirtatious, pushy, and that on more than one session he smelled like liquor. She was uncomfortable. We stopped going. --- Bottom line: I gave them a chance. They didn't take it. This follow-up exists because they never tried to fix the problem. Between the botched club build, zero follow-through, and questionable instruction, I can't recommend this place for fittings or lessons. Buyer beware.
