If I could give less than a half star I would. I eat at all sorts of dives, "foodie" joints, and Taco Bell. I eat microwaved nachos at home on a regular basis. I threw the whole order of nachos I got from this place in the garbage. This is unheard of from me. How the hell are you gonna throw some crap on 3 or 4 WHOLE soft corn tortillas and call it nachos? Bland crap at that. I'm a cook. This place is appalling. I feel like any kind of effort from someone to be an actual cook, would have improved on this ten fold. I worked all day cooking food for others, and when it came time to relax at home with some nachos (a thing that honestly I thought was impossible to screw up this bad), my relaxing dinner turned into a total bummer. Ok I want to say, this place is really good. The salsa is not like ketchup. It's a little spicy but it's good. Yes the margarita's do taste amazining. My wife and I got the fiesta for two platter. I've never really been a fan. They deep fry virtually everything, it's all super greasy, and it doesn't have much flavor. Seems like a lot of it is out of a box, bag, or can. Definitely not my favorite. I like Plaza De Mexico or Azteca much better. read more

It's an old school (circa 1970's) mexican joint. Overdecorated in a gaudy yet charming way. Laid back. Kind of blue collar/dive bar-restaurant cool. Great service. Plenty of regulars. Caters mostly to a 40+ aged crowd. Free chips and salsa. Strong cocktails. Food is decent. Don't expect trendy street tacos or upscale grub. This is your shredded chicken or ground beef tacos with a side of rice and refried beans type of place. It's solid for what it is. read more

This place is soooo good! The service is unreal and the food is always fresh. This is one of my regular spots. The golden margaritas are the best that you can get anywhere in town. I highly recommend the steak quesadillas with corn tortillas, the puffy taco, cheese enchiladas and last but not least the wet burrito. Jeff the owner is great and always so helpful. I went here last night for dinner and everything about this place is pure trash. From the terrible tacos with cheese and olives ( cilantro and onion wasn't an option) to the horrible margaritas that were so sweet the tasted like a headache. I ordered a beer and didn't even receive it for 20 minutes until my friend reminded the waitress that I had even ordered it. The décor looks like a piñata spray shit on the walls too btw. I have been getting carry out from here for about a year and its been great, tonight was our first dine-in experience. While it was quick, it was unclean, and unpleasant. It began with being sat at a dirty table in a dining area that was only serving two other tables, making it unnecessary to seat us at a dirty table. Our server returned with a cleaning rag in her left hand, transferred it to her right and and directly picked up the chips and salsa with the hand she was carrying the rag in.... pretty gross. Moving on She takes our drink order, sprints away, returns with drinks but no water, and sprints away again. Returns several minutes later with an abrupt " Ready?" so we place our order. Again she sprints away, returns with app, drops, sprints away.... returns with meals, drops, sprints away. Fortunately, the food was good and prepared as ordered because she did not speak to us the remainder of our meal. Several minutes after my wife and I have completed out meals and consolidated the plates on the end of the table the server comes back, clears but again does not speak.... which leaves us with a cleared table, including no drinks, and no communication from the server (ie desert, bill, how was food ) we sat for about 10 minutes watching her chat, and run to the back of house while we waited. I finally just pulled out my wallet and CC as a hint maybe she would pick up on. Finally we got the bill and I handed her my CC. This is the part that upset me the most.... The server took my CC, walked away and dropped it on the bar... unattended, in a room of people. The bartender was oblivious. I actually had to get up and go across the room and stand by my card to secure it. The owner clearly saw what I saw because he walked over and ran the charge when he saw me go stand by it. He then brought it to the table and he had nothing to say either. All in all, I was disappointed in the lack of communication, the handling of cleaning materials immediately before handling my food, and leaving my credit card unattended. Mind you, we are in a restaurant serving a total of 5 tables between 2 servers, so no one was over sat or rushing. We have never been to a restaurant before where the server never once asked if we needed anything, and were really surprised and disappointed by an owner who clearly saw we had an issue and did not address it or us. It was so surprising and bothersome I created my yelp account just to write this review. read more

Good Mexican! Salsa is a little boring, but the guac is good and the food was quick, hot and delicious!

My boyfriend and I come here about once a month, when I get too lazy to cook. The $2 margarita night is my favorite! We can walk here from our house, so I drink margaritas and he gets a pitcher of beer and we make a night of it, with the all you can eat chips and salsa, and we orders a couple tacos. The salsa does, um, leave something to be desired. But the chicken tacos are my go-to order, soft-shell, no olives, with a side of sour cream. (The olives are black olives from a can, gross.) Between the two of us we spend maybe $30 and leave satisfied. The outdoor seating is incredibly charming with flowers everywhere, and is a great place to spend a summer evening, hanging out with good friends. Word of warning though, bring cash if you want to split the bill, because apparently that's too complicated a task for most of the waitstaff. read more

Very good Mexican fare! We finally made it here for dinner after trying for about 2 years (Long story, something always came up). The chips were good, and the salsa was VERY hot the night we went in. The server said the heat varies batch to batch, and we got a hot batch! Very tasty though. The service was not the greatest, but 2 waitresses called in sick that evening, and they were busy. We first got there, and the place was empty (About 6:00 P.M.). Soon the place was slammed. 2 large crowds came in, along with everyone else it seems. The bartender helped out, and they did a great job. The food is above average, very well made and tasty. I will definitely be back, and this time will not take 2 years! read more

Best place on the East Side to grab Mexican lunch. (Fridays and Thursdays only) I highly recommend the beef enchiladas. The rice is epic. The extra touch of the small little potatoes in the seasoned meat really adds to it. And hey...they have a Galaga machine too. read more

WOW! I am an enchilada snob - and the Enchilada Verde blew me away! The atmosphere is fantastic, food was great and the staff was amazingly friendly. Polarizing reviews led my husband and I to try this place out. First of all, It's located on the very edge of Grosse Pointe; I'm surprised it's not actually Detroit. The manager greeted us right away with menus and chips/salsa in hand as he brought us to our table. He said he would be right back with waters but never returned. The server greeted us promptly and service in general was ok but then again there were only 6 other tables seated. The food was mediocre at best. The chips were store bought and if I liked salsa, I'd suspect that was mass produced as well. We both got the Pollo en Mole (because they were out of the tamales my husband originally ordered). The chicken tasted like those frozen chicken breasted injected with brine. Not good. The mole sauce was flavorful but that's about it. The refried beans were like a pool of running puréed mush-not attractive. Glad we tried it for ourselves but will definitely side with the undesirable reviewers and will never return again. read more

First time here and have lived one this side of town most of my life... ignore the negative comments. Much cleaner then most any other Mexican restaurants on the east side. Food was deceit and did taste good & the salsa had a good bite to it. Ordered ranchero enchiladas and enjoyed it, but my boyfriend's enchiladas verde was better ;) Staff was very friendly, service was prompt, love all the cool knick knacks displayed at the bar and old arcade games (and no spec of dust anywhere...clean!). When we walked in there was a line to wait to be seated. They weren't taking names, you just had to wait in line. Everyone that walked in would walk past the line looking for a hostess stand then realize you had to just line up. We waited roughly 5-10 minutes. The man that brought us to our seats seemed to be the manager/owner, not sure, but he was very nice and sweet with my kids. At first the waitress was nice and fairly attentive. We ended up waiting an hour for our food. No explanation, no apology, no comp. whatever fine. Food was pretty good. But then the waitress gained a full on attitude. It was like she became a mute. Almost narcissistic attitude like. It was odd and made us uncomfortable. Still left 20% because karma. As the night ended the manager came over to our table again and brought my girls some candy which I thought was kind. Overall, good food, weird service and a very nice manager. Probably won't return due to the waitress's odd behavior and long wait for food. read more

I was shocked by some of the reviews about the food. We've been going to Sierra Station since I was little and no other Mexican restaurant comes close. I've had their chicken chimichanga a few times now and it's always been good. I've never had a problem with the meat. My favorite dish is the cheese enchiladas which are absolutely delicious topped with their amazing guacamole. I'm not such a big fan of the chips because they aren't salted. I also don't like salsa so I can't give an answer about the taste. But everything else is delicious. Aside from that the staff and owner are always in good spirits and up for a small chat. I've never had a bad time or a bad meal from this restaurant. If you lived in the area you should definitely visit this place. read more
