But when I pulled in here, I wasn't mad. Visiting a mall early in the morning is weird. It is mostly deserted. No stores open. Almost completely void of people except those in here doing their jobs. Kind of gives you the 'Dawn of the Dead' vibe, like you are one of the only survivors left in the world. Odd to say, but almost peaceful. This mall seems to be doing fairly well. I did not see many vacancies. Which is great, and almost always the case in this area. This mall feels vast. The layout feels like you need to know exactly what you are getting in here, or set aside time to allow you to freely wander in here. My stop, to use the facilities, took a bit longer than I expected. I have never been here before, and this was not a good thing. I ended up parking in what I thought was the middle of the mall, however, not knowing where the restrooms were, I ended up walking for a while. What was interesting was when I did finally find the restrooms, if I would have used one of the other entrances nearby, it would have been a much quicker stop. But I wouldn't have had the zombie vibe.

There are fewer customer service counters in each department. There is one main counter dedicated solely for returns; however, specific items (skincare, cosmetics) should be returned to the corresponding counter. The service isn't the greatest either, I was told to go to multiple counters back and forth to return an item, until a manager from the shoe department finally completed the return. They still carry the same variety of items ranging from perfume/cologne, clothes, shoes, luggage, etc. Since this location is relatively smaller (than other nearby Macy's), it is easier to navigate through the different departments.

I returned a pair of shoes that I had not used, yet the assistant manager, Oprah, treated me with complete disrespect and accused me of wearing them. I politely asked her to walk with me to the shoe department to compare the condition of the returned shoes to others on the shelf -- many of which were slightly dirty underneath just like the pair I returned. She flat-out refused. Not because she was too busy, but because she knew I was right and still wanted to be rude about it. She yelled at me in front of other customers, saying the only option I had was store credit -- even though I had the receipt and paid with my debit card. I have never used those shoes, and I was being honest. Instead of handling the situation with professionalism, she was confrontational and disrespectful. I've shopped at Ross for years, but this was enough to make me never return to this location again. If this is how they treat honest customers, I can't imagine how they treat actual issues. I had the worst customer service experience in my life with an employee of the Kohl's store located…read moreat 21245 Signal Hill Plaza, Sterling, Virginia (store # 0295). My wife had purchased clothing items on line with Kohl's. We had to leave town to attend to family business and planned to pick up the items at the store upon our return. My wife received an email from Kohls@tkols.com that stated "Your Self-Pickup order is ready." It further stated that "To avoid cancelation, pick up your order by end of the day on Friday, January 23, 2026." We decided to travel home on Friday, January 23rd so that my wife could pick up the order. My wife called the store from our vehicle (on speaker phone) at 11:16 am to inform that she would pick up the order before the store closed. The individual she spoke with (a female with an Indian accent) told my wife that the order was not in the system. After some back and forth, the Kohl's representative informed that the order was canceled. My wife was stunned and confused because the email clearly stated that the order would not be canceled until the "end of day" on Friday. When my wife asked why was the order canceled when the email stated it would be at the store until the end of the day, the representative became argumentative. She stated that she did not know why it was canceled and would not provide any additional information. My wife really wanted the items she ordered so she asked the representative to look around and see if the order was still in the store for we would come by and pick it up. With this, the representative became combative. She raised her voice and cut my wife off several times. The disrespect was unacceptable. It was so bad that I decided to get on the phone and ask why the order had been canceled and explain to this person what we wanted to do. She raised her voice with me and interrupted me several times. I had to tell her to please let me speak. I finally asked to speak with the manager. Instead of transferring me to a manager, she hung up on me. My wife did not get her order (even after the email said it would be at the store) and we were both insulted. Needless to say, we will never shop at Kohl's again in person or on-line. They have no respect for the customer and customer service is dead. Kohl's has experienced some financial pressure as of late and they making attempts to strengthen their position in the market. Kohl's leadership should know that there is an employee at store # 0295 that is killing their business. Do not shop there. My wife ordered her items from Amazon. They were delivered in two days without insults.
