I've been coming to this Macy's for years now. It still stands strong at Dulles Town Center. There is plenty of uncovered parking available, on the lower level, as well as upper level. There are fewer customer service counters in each department. There is one main counter dedicated solely for returns; however, specific items (skincare, cosmetics) should be returned to the corresponding counter. The service isn't the greatest either, I was told to go to multiple counters back and forth to return an item, until a manager from the shoe department finally completed the return. They still carry the same variety of items ranging from perfume/cologne, clothes, shoes, luggage, etc. Since this location is relatively smaller (than other nearby Macy's), it is easier to navigate through the different departments. read more

This Macys is okay. Personally I like the Fair Oaks and Tysons ones better. That's because their clearance section seems bigger. I am a bargain shopper, and have done well with Macys over the years. The key is off season, and figuring out the algorithm to a degree. This is a nice location. Dulles Town Center is less busy. My best guess is this store is understaffed because of the economy. Will look at this again. Yet the entire employees are really good. The problem seems to be checking out, and again probably manpower issue that's affecting all industries. I wanted to pick up a few last minute gifts for my wife so dropped into Macy's at Dulles Mall. Unfortunately, it was a waste of time. Although plenty of people working in the Fragrance and Jewelry departments, no one in women's clothing. Bummer. I look around for about 10 minutes (I had sizing question), and gave up. Came home, started shopping online, not at Macy's. I tried to give them $$, I do not see a bright future for them. read more

About the only store that has traffic at Dulles Town Center is Macy's. Its well laid out, great parking at several entrances, and appears to have staff equipped to help a well as check-out, which isn't the same at many stores these days. Hope this location will stay open for some time as without it, this shopping center will not be the same. read more

Truly bad customers service in all department store. I live close by and it's the closest Macy's to my house (unfortunately) I prefer shopping online but anytime I need to deal with customer service it's sucks! There is no one at the customer desk almost every time I come there and they make you wait 15-20 until someone will see you by chance and come help. Unpleasant customer service in fragrance department us well. Very rude personal who fight in front of you. They try to be 'nice' until you don't buy 2 min after and they feel they just wasting their time by the time you just trying to find the right smell for yourself. Had to return one perfume lately and lady was helping me until I told her I want to exchange or return the fragrance and she left me for 20 minutes until someone else helped me out. I ordered an item online for $108.12 and paid with my American Express card. Seven (7) days later it had not yet shipped but I could not reach anyone at Macy's by phone. After hours of texting, I was told via text from a virtual agent that the shipper had a problem and there was nothing we could do about it. THAT WAS MY LAST PURCHASE FROM MACY'S!! I came in to return a piece of clothing and browse for a replacement. I was there for maybe 10-15 minutes and an employee followed me around the entire time, even going as far as to check the bathroom stall I was in after I left it. Dropped into the men's department to buy a tux shirt and a bow tie for tonight's inaugural ball. Abdu helped me and he was fantastic. He took me to the sections where I could find what I needed and helped me pick the right shirt. Walked back to the register to show me I was going to pay 30% less than the posted price. Then Abdu walked me to where the bow ties are. I selected what I needed and then he rang me up knocking off an additional $15.90. Then he told me good luck tonight. Please come again. I will Abdu. Rude and dismissive behavior. I went there to find a matching hat for my shoes and shirt. They didn't have the hat I needed. However I did see some Khaki shorts marked down 50%off. I was standing in line and the line was moving really slow. The young Latino cashier was rude towards me. I guess the older people of various ethnicities like Indian, Hispanic he had more patience for. I was just going with the flow of the line. He got upset that the people weren't listening to him and he thought I heard him. I'm hard of hearing as well and wear hearing aids but they sometimes don't work. Well, anyway it seems I bore the brunt of his frustration as he mumbled not so quietly that people don't listen to him. I should have left as he put me on the spot in front of everyone. If that's what they wanted they should have put an arrow directing the people to go a certain way. I know what he was trying to do but it could've been handled a certain way. It felt like he was trying to make an example out of me. Why he thought I was the one for that I don't know, but I'm tired of being the whipping boy for other e bad attitudes or having a bad day. Truly awful phone system. You have to get through a minute long greeting and 4 levels of menu selections before finally getting transferred to the right (hopefully) department, only to be put on hold indefinitely. And this is during slow hours on a weekday. After trying to reach a human being in three different departments I finally got through to Backstage. This time I wasn't even put on hold - the associate that answered the phone simply said "Hold on", put the phone down, and started talking to someone else (I don't think it was a customer). I like the store but the curbside pickup is a joke. I ordered something that was delivered to the store on 10/23, i wasn't able to pick it up until 11/2. I followed the instructions, parked in a marked space, selected 'i am here' and input my parking spot number. The Macys app said to pop my trunk and an associate would bring out my item right away. After 10 minutes, I called the store and was told they don't offer curbside pickup. I didn't have a clean mask with me and convinced the girl to bring out my item. About 5-10 minutes later a small woman came out struggling to carry my small 2 quart air fryer. She placed it in my trunk and told me to come in next time as Dulles Macys did not offer curbside pickup. I am confused, why offer it as an option and install designated parking spots? read more

On Sunday 09/29/2019 my family and I drove about 1 hour to shop at the Dulles Macys located at 21060 Dulles Town Cir, Sterling, VA 20166. We made 2 trips the same day within 1 hour to this store. The first trip we sent roughly about $250. We came back into the store and started shopping on the first floor backstage section.We picked up a few items and worked our way up to the 2nd floor as my mother and I wanted to look for some dress shoes. After we looked we could not locate any particular shoes that we wanted to purchase so I proceeded to the closest register to pay for my backstage merchandise which happened to be the register where you pick up online orders or return merchandise. There were 2 cashiers and the one who called me up to ring me out were 2 middle eastern women (she was wearing a hijab I apologize but as the incident was extremely uncalled for I did not think of getting her name). When she realized all my merchandise was from the Macy Backstage section she proceeded to tell me I could not pay for any of my merchandise with her that I would have to grab what I had placed on the counter and walk it back downstairs myself to pay for it. As I listened I then told her I didn't believe that to be true as I had just not too long ago the same day at the same store location purchased some backstage items and men clothes on the 1st floor and paid for it all together as well as doing the same at other locations example Springfield Towne Center in Virginia. She reiterated the same to me that I had to take it back downstairs to purchase it and that she could not ring me out there. I told her I was no longer interested in the items as she was not willing to ring my items up at her register. As I walked away she started to follow me to the women shoes section and started shouting "MA'AM IF YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR ITEMS WITH YOU I WILL HAVE TO CALL SECURITY ON YOU" I continued to ignore her. She stood in front of me and my family while customers stared at me and continued " MA'AM PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ME CALL SECURITY ON YOU. MA'AM PLEASE TAKE YOU ITEMS AND PURCHASE THEM DOWNSTAIRS I CAN NOT HELP YOU HERE PLEASE TAKE THEM DOWNSTAIRS I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO CALL SECURITY ON YOU." As any sane person would know that incident was as embarrassing and humidifying as can be imagined. I walked back to her register while customers starred at me as if I was some kind of delinquent being chased down by a macys employee yelling throughout the store. Once we both were back at the counter I asked she contact her manager. About no more then 10 minutes later a manager came and walked straight to me. She asked what had happened. I proceeded to tell her how my 2 trips at Macys that day had been and how during my 2nd trip that day her employee followed me to the shoes sections yelling she was going to call security on me because I would not take the items I wanted to purchase from the backstage section back downstairs myself and either pay for them there or leave them there. The manager apologized for the incident and informed me what the clerk has said was incorrect. I know the manager was correct as I proceeded to state I had been to many backstage store in other locations and never truthfully never had this ever happened anywhere. She also stated she would talk to the clerk and her manager as well as she may have "misunderstood". Excuse me but no she did not misunderstand anything at all. She just simply proceed with her customer service completely wrong and as oppose to asking her manager how to proceed just assumed she was right and fought it through. Days later this incident continues to disturb me and I decided it need to be known more as I expect her to have repercussions for her actions. As her manager rang up my items and placed a 10% discount not once did she turn to even apologize to me. She completely humiliated me and made me feel so little. I held Macys to a much higher standard and as much as the manager asked me not to let employees like her mark the brand I cant help but not want to go back. Truthfully I had a huge urge to return everything I purchased that day as no human being should ever be treated that way. I have worked in customer service my self in sales and now medical for many of years. I would never imagine that is how I should treat a customer. To have me look like I potentially did something wrong ( anyone could have thought I was trying to steal) in front of the customers and have my kids see and go through that horrendous incident was socially embarrassing and humiliating. It makes me sad to know people like her exist and thrive on makes others feel little yet never take accountability for their actions. I truly hope she was disciplined and written up as she should never think about treating any customer the way she did to me. read more

Typically a decent experience. A good variety of clothing. I do wish that there was a bigger variety of clothing options for my 4 yr old son. Shopping for shoes his is absolutely dreadful. It is purely chaotic every time I visit. Today I stopped I happened to see a cute pair of shoes and after a 15-20 wait for the correct shoes I just wanted to pay and leave. I was very put off by one employee Joe who literally sat at an empty register but refused to ring me up because he wasn't the one to help me find my shoe. I understand that people may work off commission but there typically is a way to give someone credit for helping. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Trying to buy a dress and shoes for my adult daughter to wear to a wedding was a nightmare. The dress she wanted (in her size) was on a mannequin. It took two of the rudest women ever and a clueless male manager over 20 minutes to finally decide WE could take the dress off only if WE re-dressed the mannequin ourselves!!! Last I checked they were being paid to work there, not us. For the privilege of spending $200 we spent nearly an hour looking for someone to help us, wait for the cashier to finish her FaceTime conversation, and listened to the two female "employees " rant about us in Spanish. Yes we understand Spanish and I won't repeat what they said but they should be fired. Of course maybe it was our fault for having the unmitigated gal of asking where the fitting room was. Don't let the name fool you! When all the Sanger-Harris and Hecht stores were bought, the name on the front was changed to Macy's. That's all that changed. To be fair, I don't know if this location has always been Macy's or was part of the merger/buy-out. It just feels less like Macy's and more like Hecht's. The place is filthy, clothes and shoes strewn about all over the floor, no sales associates available. I'm serious, it's like being at Target!!!! What has happened to Macy's? This is not the Macy's I grew up with. Nordstrom is what Macy's used to be. Guess I'll stick with them. Worst Store Ever I am not a big fan of Macy's but was dragged here by a friend looking for a gift for her husband. First, the inventory is severely lacking. The store is a MESS...stuff on the floor, no neat displays, stains everywhere. It also looks like it hasn't been redecorated since the 60's. No matter what time of year it is, this place is almost always packed on the weekends. It's one of the few decent, affordable department stores in the area, so people tend to flock to from all around the area. The one notable thing about this place that I have seen over my countless visits is how the woman's clearance shoe rack is always, ALWAYS, a mess. There are always shoes scattered all over the floors there and the employees will see the mess and just keep walking. I never really understood that, but I assume they wait until the day is over to attend to the mess. Otherwise, this store is like every other Macy's in the area. read more

Not directed towards this particular Macys, but didn't know here to post. They us UPS and UPS in general freaking SUCKS! I ordered items for Christmas. They were just delivered, which is great but NINE out of THIRTEEN items were missing. The box was busted open, tape coming off, and the PACKING SLIP was even missing!! like WTFFFFF!!!! What am I suppose to do now! I just had a baby so I can't really go to the store to pick things up anymore, but clearly I must because UPS is not dependable AT ALL! It's the freaking holidays, must things be stolen, and then incomplete orders sneakingly be left at the door before I can question. I HATE YOU GUYS! and YOU SUCK! Ruined my HOLIDAY. This Macy's location leaves much to be desired. The cosmetics, fragrance and home departments are great. However, the clothing and shoes are a bit lacking for my taste. I was shopping at Macy Dulles Towne center in Sterling VA today and the most helpful, pleasant young man assisted me. I was in the Estee lauder area and he came over and asked if he could help. I later realized that I lost my phone. He was walking off with friends for a break but he left them and we looked all over and he brought me to lost and found. His name is Hakem. Needed to return some gifts received during the holidays. Had to go to three different registers to find an associate to help. After the returns were made and store credit was issued to a gift card, I was looking in housewares. We also walked into Macy's Backstage. Definitely a sign that this store struggles in making their sales goals. It was sad and pathetic and a strong indicator that this "anchor" store needs to find its way into the retail graveyard that is Dulles Town Center. Also looked for a Men's coat and the selection was scarce. Understand that inventory was happening, but after walking around, never once did an associate approach usto ask if we needed any assistance. read more

DO NOT APPLY FOR MACY'S CREDIT CARD. Worst credit card ever !! I applied few months before and made one purchase. Was late to pay the due for 30 days as I was out of country. And few days before I called and made the full payment and cancelled the card since it was a crazy interest of 37 dollars !!! And today getting another bill for 2 dollars and 2 dollar interest. Worst customer service i have experienced ever, hiring less experience rude people and not training them how to treat a customer correctly is not acceptable. Visited the store first thing in the morning to do a return with being a card holder and looking forward to a smoother transaction. The lady at the register refused to do a return and wanted to send me back upstairs, where i was at first and had someone at the register newly hired and struggling to do a transaction without a mentor and was taking more than 15 mns in line, verified i can do a return at any register and went to the home appliances where i purchase belongs then was faced with a rude customer service agent who made me feel so bad. read more

When they have their one day sale, their great simple based on value alone. Any other day...not so much. It's hard to find the right sizes as everything's labeled wrong. Also there never seems to be a salesperson when you need to check out. I had to go to the men's department just to pay. Never seems to be any humans around that work here...unless it the makeup area. Mens suit department looked like it was looted last night, there were about 4-5 other people shopping while we were there so not sure when the catastrophe struck or why no one was attempting to clean it up as they went along. the salesmen definitely need more training- they were taught to smile and say hello, but not to help. we were looking for a shirt to go with my husbands suit for an interview today, we were really struggling to find the right fit in the color he wanted since the shirts were in chaos. one salesmen that had said hello to us multiple times asked if he could help us find anything, i was relieved and said "yes please, we need this color shirt in this cut, but in the next size up, can you help?" and he said "cool!" and turned his back to me and began rearranging the tie table. read more

It seems that Macys are as varied as the malls they are in and this one is no different. Generally my visits here are because they carry a line of shoes that my husband prefers, not to mention he also had a $50 gift card to use. The store overall tends to err on the disorganized side crammed with loads of merchandise. As far as the staff to help you again this is varied on the department and the staff member who is manning that area. Case in point, my husband and I were looking for a particular type of duvet that happened to be on sale. They didn't seem to have the size we needed when my husband had inquired about it but the sales clerk offered to order it and have it shipped to us no extra charge. My husband decided to come back as he had coupons and wanted to see if he could find his shoes first. Shoes in hand we came back to the bedding section and inquired about the bedding with a different staff member who was quite helpful, and I imagine it was his regular place as he said, let me check the back. I recently went to the store at Dulles Town Center with my husband. I could not believe how absolutely filthy the store was, the floor by the entrance door was stained, there was a chair sitting there that was ripped and stained. Carpeting was ripped and stained all over the place. Frankly, the place gave me the creeps. I've tried to find a customer service person online to write to about it but have not had any luck. I will definately not be shopping at Macy's ever, not unless they start cleaning their stores. read more
