I called Sierra due to a mouse problem in my attic that I had been unsuccessfully trying to handle on my own for several years. I experienced the same thing many other reviewers have mentioned regarding Erik's incredible customer service and knowledge of rodents. He quickly identified several entry points the mice were likely using that I never would have considered myself. During the work, he was even able to show me staining and other evidence confirming they were actively using those routes to get into the attic. I was also very happy to learn that Erik is a licensed roofing contractor in addition to performing rodent exclusion work, as I needed my roof valleys cleaned as well. After removing the tiles, he showed me how much debris had built up underneath in areas that weren't visible from the outside and explained that I was likely only about a year away from developing a major leak. Those pesky rats. A bit over a year after Erik and Lyle rat-proofed our roof, we again began hearing the little pests in our attic. But how did they get in? I called Erik and he was able to stop by the next morning to have a look. After about 30 minutes of walking the exterior, he could not see any clear signs of how they got in. He scheduled us for about a week later, for a thorough examination. He and two crew members (Lyle, Jake) spent well over an hour, each independently examining all sides of our house for signs of entry. He also got on the roof and examined it, and all the work they did last year. Nothing. The roof looked fine, there were no signs of trails going up the walls. They were stumped, but had a few more places to check. One of the three finally discovered the new entry points, which were unique to our home. (The rats managed to burrow under some columns we have that hold up a back patio cover. The builder built most of the posts on concrete, but left several inches overhang over soil. And that's all the rats needed.) Erik wrote up a quote to seal the columns. It wasn't cheap, but fair. They did the work about two weeks later. They also set some traps up in our attic, in case some rats got sealed in, but it's been several weeks now and so far, no signs. As much as I appreciate the work that Erik and his team do, I'm hopeful (and hoping) this will be the last we'll need them! read more

We recently heard rodent noises in an upstairs wall--likely rats or squirrels--and knew we had to act fast. After reading glowing reviews, we called Erik at Sierra Wildlife Control. He responded immediately and came out promptly with his assistant, Jake. They climbed onto the roof and quickly identified several vulnerable entry points. Erik's deep knowledge of rodent behavior (rats vs. squirrels vs. mice) was impressive, and he clearly explained the steps needed to seal the gaps, including redoing a poorly executed repair from a previous contractor. I received a detailed quote the next day, accepted it, and Erik returned shortly after to do the work. He spent several hours sealing up entry points, fixing the eave issue, and documenting everything with photos. He also set traps in the attic to catch anything still inside, planning a follow-up visit the next week. When he returned, I mentioned we'd heard some scratching downstairs. Erik carefully inspected the foundation and discovered two more access points, which we scheduled him to repair with mortar and some framing to reinforce the under-home screen. Erik is absolutely meticulous, not just in craftsmanship but also in aesthetics. He's fanatical about quality and deeply committed to doing things the right way. He's also incredibly courteous--he even refused to enter the house once because he didn't have his clean boot covers. My wife summed it up perfectly: "He's a joy to work with." I have rats under my house. Eric came out for 45 minutes, found two holes and said someone would come out and patch them over with concrete. I asked about the rats already in there and he said, "We'll put in traps". Lyle came by a week later, spent half an hour plugging the holes. I paid $650.00 The next day I heard rats, but decided they must not have a way out, and would (unfortunately) die of starvation. For two weeks I heard noise and called Eric on 2/4/25 and explained the situation. He said "Did you put traps under the house?" I said "I am a 77 year old woman... that's why I called you." I told him he left me the impression that Lyle would do that. He said they will come back out for another $350 and lay out traps. I told him $1,000 for about two hours work? He said sending two guys out is "expensive" and I said only one guy came out. Anyway, I still have rats and will not use them again. read more

After all the great reviews on Yelp we decided to call Sierra Wildlife to help us figure out what to do with some skunks that made a den under the subfloor of our shed. We tried everything on our own (motion detected water sprayer, moth balls, security cameras to track their comings and goings) and gave up after a month as nothing was working. We are SO glad we found Erik, he is a lifesaver! We didn't want to harm the skunks so Erik installed a permanent, concreted mesh solution around the border of the shed after ensuring the skunks vacated through the one way door he setup for several days. Now no rodents or animals can make a home under our shed and the skunks have gone on their merry way to find a new home. A skunk sprayed under our house on a Friday night and it was absolutely terrible. Erik, from Sierra Wildlife Control, was able to come out to our house on Monday and assessed the situation quickly. He installed a one way door to allow the skunk to exit the space under our house but to not get back in. Then, several days later, when we were sure the skunk had left, he was able to install a new metal door to permanently keep the skunk and all other rodents out. Erik was a true professional. He wore a mask, was polite, answered all of our questions, even allowed my young son to pepper him with endless questions of his own and never tried to sell us anything we didn't need. Erik contacted me immediately (on a weekend) when I started my inquiry through Yelp for rats. He came out to the house and gave me a list of potential holes to close up, explaining how likely each was as an access point for the rats, and what the cost of each closure would be. We opted to close several areas on the roof and in some of the corners at roof lines. The closures seemed to close out the rodents, but it seemed like we didn't get all of the rats eliminated. For no additional charges, Erik continued to come to the house to scope out possible sites, and we found an entry point near the air conditioner using motion cameras, and he closed this up. At this point, we still seemed to have a very small population making its way in and out. Erik found one last closure and this finally worked. It took us several weeks to complete, but our house is a complex construction, and Erik stuck it out until the end with us. We are very thankful. We had a rat/rats in our attic and it was waking us up in the early morning hours hearing the moving around and digging in our insulation. We tried closing obvious points of entry and poisoning.
