    meat in a display case

I stopped in to check out their hot food, but ended up just buying some cookies. The lines for the freshly prepared hot food were quite long, and I wasn't sure I could decide what I wanted (hard to see the menu while waiting in line). The store is small and crowded, with narrow aisles. I bought a couple of their fresh-made bakery cookies and then a commercial package of cookies. The bakery cookies were pretty good. Not my new favorite, but definitely tasty. The commercial cookies were ones I hadn't seen before and I LOVED them. They tasted like "Wheat Thins" but with a lot more sugar. So good and crunchy! I could see myself going back just for that. One other note though - I was taking pictures in the store and when I got to the bakery display case with delicious looking yogurt parfaits and stuff, an employee approached me and said I could not take pictures. This made me super disappointed and turned me off from coming back here again... :(

Ordered this cake a week ago to find out it has "HAPPY" misspelled the day of pickup.. I don't think anyone should have to pay $50 for that and not have it discounted. The store manager said for one letter, they can't do a thing and they can just re-sell it in slices? Why have a bakery and not fix it? This place is mediocre and won't have our business anymore.

Even though it's adjoining the store, the restaurant is fantastic in terms of quality, service and ambience. They have a great menu of vegetarian and vegan Indian dishes - from chaat to dosas to freshly made from scratch parathas. My husband and I loooove their paratha (bread) offerings; more so because you can customize the spice level to whatever you want: Googli (mixed veg) paratha OMG (onion, mooli, garlic) paratha Mooli (radish) paratha Gobi (cauliflower) paratha Paneer (cottage cheese) paratha Naans - plain & garlic Chapati - fluffy, soft, whole wheat (and vegan!) What we really appreciate is that the food is clearly labeled GF, Vegan etc which is so helpful. Food is HOT and custom made to order. They also follow Indian hospitality and allow guests to order, enjoy their food, and order some more if they want to before having to pay. For those who want a more predictable rice, roti, curries, kinda meal, they have multiple combo options with come with their tasty samosas, puris etc. They also offer cucumber, mint, lemon water which is so refreshing on a hot day! Ambience is also great- plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. They also have a classic Indian auto rickshaw parked near the outside seating so kids can have fun riding on it!

My mom purchased a cabbage and, after bringing it home, discovered that it was rotten all the way to the core. Only a day had passed since the purchase, so she returned to the market with both the spoiled cabbage and her receipt, expecting to receive a refund and purchase a replacement. Instead, she was asked to wait for nearly 30 minutes while an employee reviewed CCTV footage to verify that she had purchased the cabbage.. even though she had already provided her receipt. After reviewing the footage, the employee accused her of using part of the cabbage because it appeared smaller than the one shown on camera. My mom explained that she had removed the outer layers to determine whether the rot extended to the center, which it did. Logically.. why would she use a spoiled cabbage?! Despite this explanation, the employee refused to believe her and denied the refund. What should have been a simple and straightforward customer service issue became an unnecessarily rude and humiliating experience. After years of shopping here, we are extremely disappointed by how she was treated. Because of this experience, we will no longer be returning as customers.

This is one of the few Mitsuwa that doesn't have a food court (San Gabriel is another one without). The premade food section was surprisingly pretty good, better options than the Torrance or Santa Monica locations, imo. They do carry the same poke bowl that is also sold at Torrance. The store closes at 9:00pm, so the premade food section is pretty much cleared out and the self checkout is closed by around 8:00pm. The late hours actually got the busiest because only one staffed cash register was open and customers had to get in line instead of the self checkout. The store is clean and spacious, lots of self checkouts that are open during the day, and the bathrooms were clean (just need to get the code from a staff member!). I came three times on a weekday, once a little after lunch and another right around 5:30 and then around 8:00. Parking was a breeze every time. They have plenty of parking adjacent to the store. The other side of the shopping center gets a little busy, but Mitsuwa is at the comfortable corner closest to the train tracks. Getting out of the parking lot can be challenging because Tampa is a busy street and some people try to make a left turn out (I have my opinions about that lol). If heading out towards CSUN, the shopping center also has two exits out to Nordhoff so that worked well for me. I was in the area for a few job interviews... If I am hired nearby I'm definitely coming to this Mitsuwa a lot :)

I'd been doing Instacart orders from them but first time physically inside this weekend to check them out. The inside was super super clean. Major points there! In the time I was shopping around they had plenty of staff working, floors being mopped and all of the aisles were well organized and pretty. This market is a pretty standard Asian goods focused grocery store. I found about 85% of what I wanted here. I wish they had a premium sushi section and some more Hawaiian imported goods (aside from juices and sauces) but otherwise I was able to find everything I was looking for. Their hot bar is also solid. A wide selection of items to pick and I felt the pricing was reasonable. Actually throughout the whole store the prices are good compared to other grocery stores right now. I had a full bag of items for $50, good luck elsewhere getting those kinds of prices. I didn't have too much of an interaction with the staff while there, but again, lots of people working and keeping this spot in tip top shape. Through out the night there was free gifts, contests and lots of dancing. Overall fun family event to enjoy. Seafood City is located in a strip mall. Lots of free parking. I occasionally shop here for speciality asian items that I couldn't find at Island Pacific. Prices are a bit steeper here. Service is decent here, for both the food court and supermarket.

We first kind of did an overview of the whole place, checking out the bakery, the kitchen (wonderful aromas) produce, and then the canned and jarred goods. Then I worked up my courage at the kitchen and asked the guy if he could help me, because I had no idea what I was looking at, but it all looked and smelled amazing! He was so sweet and after asking, if we were vegetarians, which we weren't, he then gave us samples of two of the most popular dishes. These were both stews and had such a complexity of flavor. One is with ground walnuts, and pomegranate juice and small little meatballs, and the other was this amazing mix of herbs and greens and fava beans, which I might not normally choose, but tasted great! We ended up getting containers of those and then tried a couple different types of the rice. One had dill and other herbs in it, while the other one seemed to have lentils and maybe raisins? Once again, so good. We also got a quarter chicken and he packed them all up. It comes with this wonderful yogurt, herbed condiment. Our only mistake was not also picking up some flatbread to go with it. I picked up a chopped cucumber and tomato salad, and it's great because they have the dressing separated inside the container so it doesn't get soggy. Yes, like most places in Encino parking is going to be interesting! Their parking is directly in front of their entrance and at first it didn't look like there was anything, but then we realize there actually was. I found everybody friendly, even had some very lovely woman recommend some of the nuts and seeds to us. Speaking of which they have an enormous selection of both. I had no idea there were so many different types of sunflower seeds to name just one of the selections. In retrospect, I should've gotten some cookies! We will definitely be back, I would think it would be a great place to stock up and treat friends to an interesting set of new tastes. If you're vegetarian, they have an enormous selection as well.
