Please allow me to take a moment to paint you a picture. 3.5 hours before a dinner party thinking I'm just gonna grab some 12for12$ oysters cause it's Friday. Call in hey what's the prep advance time you need. Nah I got you right now. Perfect Go in and this dude took time probably 10 mins minimum to talk me through perfect accompaniments and how to actually achieve this dinner I wanted. I don't normally eat pork took time to explain this different cuts his recommendations for this salmon and charcuterie plate I was doing. When I say I couldn't have prayed for better help that day without knowing Oscar existed that's a understatement Plus in general this store is fantastically friendly Prepped food counter always takes time and is nice about getting family meals set up even when they're slammed I've spent time at the cheese counter asking the local expert for her recommendations on what each one would go great with. The prime deals they host are normally as good price wise as Costco but then you get organic and some other good extra labels slapped on it. 10/10 12/10 staff 15/10 Oscar and glad I get to live so close by.

a day ago New The 1…read moreStar is NOT for the store which is clean and well stocked or for my usual experiences there (I shop there 2 - 4 times a week). The "minus 4" is for the pickup. As an item I wanted was not in store, I ordered for pickup. First time I have ever done so. I was not sure where to go, what to do etc so I approched the associate who seemed to be handling that area. I saw he was busy so I politely apologized for bothering him and explained I was pretty much clueless on where to go, what to do etc. He told me to check in. I asked him where to do so and he told me to do it the same way I ordered. I ordered on Amazon so tried to open it. Well that store has horrible internet so it took a minute but the only option was curbside vs in store. I again apologized and explained. He told me he wasn't familiar with the app and turned away. I just stood there. Another woman arrived and seemed to be helping out but when I tried to ask her for help, she rather abruptly told me they were busy and other people were waiting. I would not have flinched if she, in a semi polite manner would have simply said something like, "we have quite a few orders but if you don't mind waiting a moment, we will help you." Instead I felt awkward and embarrassed. She did find my order which was handed to me in an efficient but not warm and friendly way and that was it. Both employees seemed irritated that I did not know the "lay of the land" I get the store was busy. They seemed to be short staffed. The woman said they were having technical issues which I totally get and I am sure they were both tired and frustrated. I've been there. But I left feeling ashamed for putting the employees out. Whole Foods - your Oxnard internet is awful so looking for instructions in an email or app is often fruitless. Maybe some clear signage like you have at the Amazon self serve? A simply thing like that would go a long way. I won't try online pickup again. If am item I want is unavailable I will skip it there and purchase it somewhere else. On the upside, Angel, one of your male employees, is always SUPER nice and very helpful. Ditto for the employees at the seafood station. This is the only poor experience I have had.

Great that they're open late even though their meat, deli, and bakery counters may be closed. They still sell meat, baked goods, and food though. Just no worker at the counter. Pharmacy was also closed but it was late almost closing time. It is great there is drive up and pick up, as well as handicap parking. Lots of parking in the plaza so no worries about that. They did a great job thinking about accessibility as their cash register line also has an accessible aisle for wheel chairs with more space in between. There are multiple shopping cart returns throughout the parking lot. Their wine and alcohol aisles just got upgraded! They now have a wine cellar. Looks super nice. Great variety. The fresh produce Is super fresh and always organized. Great deals on the meats however, their seafood is not great quality in my opinion. It is awesome the Starbucks inside opens late and early as well! For any late night work grinds or early morning coffees. They also have a public restroom at the front of the store turning left near the deli and hot foods section. During the day they have a worker at the flower counter helping with bouquets and gifts. Great service!

The produce appeared to be better quality than I have seen previous weeks at Aldi and Walmart Neighborhood Market. I picked up several items to make a chicken stew and the prices seemed comparable to those other mentioned stores. A bag of carrots was $1.99. Russet potatoes were $0.99/lb. Yellow onions $0.99/lb. Fresh bunch of Italian Parsley $0.99. Chicken legs were $2.29/lbs. Then I decided to check out the fresh breads made in store. I picked up 2 Artisan Sourdough loaves that were still warm and steamy in the bag for $1.99 each. Some things were obviously more expensive even with an advertised member price like Tillamook zero sugar smoked sausages that I love. I just picked up the small package at Target on sale for $4.99. Vons wanted $5.99. Since it was about 8:30am on a Saturday, there were only a handful of customers here when I was and no one in line; so I was checked out quickly. Nice shopping experience and I will have to come back again at a time when I don't want to be bothered with large crowds.

Next to a full service Mexican American market with dry goods, a good produce section and meat counter is a second building housing a full service hot food kitchen with all the good Mexican meats served any way you like (tacos, burritos, tortas, combinations with rice and beans) , and a panaderia (Mexican bakery), tortilleria (corn tortilla production), fruteria/jugueria (fruit & juice bar with good aquas frescas and liquados), and neveria (ice cream counter). Everything I've ever tried here is good. Eat in (para aquí) or take out (para llevar). There is indoor seating for a few dozen. And in between the two buildings (market and restaurant) is a serene Mexican American garden patio space with quiet and very pleasant outdoor seating. The default language is Spanish but the staff also speak English. Down through the years they have been unfailingly polite, patient and indulgent with my rudimentary Spanish language skills. This is one of my happy places. I've been eating here on and off for 25 years. My family like it. Friends I have brought all like it. In all that time the only negative thing I have to say is that their cafe de olla (at the panaderia counter) is rather too sweet for my taste. Which is to say, it is properly made in classic Mexican style. Truth be told I've not yet tried their Mexican style ice creams (made in house) but many flavors are water-based and thus are more like an American sorbet than American ice cream. A couple popular flavors (like strawberry) come in milk-based and water-based style ice cream. This is the traditional Mexican way. Their prices have gone up some down through the years, but that's the restaurant biz in America. I think they still deliver good value for good food and services.

The market had many more booths than I was expecting after reading the write up. They had a mix of food items for sale from fruits and veggies to desserts, to fish to drinks but they also had jewelry, clothes, toys, cremes and balms and other assorted items. Their fruits and veggies were impressive. It was so vibrant, colorful, fragrant. Enjoy my photos of the berries to see what I mean. I did buy a bakery item from the booth that had a lot of items, but no one in line, no wait versus the other booth that had a good amount of items but about 15 people in line. I should have known. My coffee cake item had saran wrap but it had a hole in it, and it was very stale. I am assuming that the hole led to it being stale and not that it was an old item not freshly made that day. It was very disappointing. If you are in the area, stop in and check it out.

This farmers market is a pretty good size with so many vendors ranging from produce, home goods, frozen foods, clothing and ready made and to go food stalls. This market really has everything and is highlighting some of the best local small businesses in the 805. Saw many familiar faces but also some new booths that I was able to support. Bought fruit and pastries for days (dangerous) because everything looked so good. Prices seemed reasonable enough to be. You are buying straight from the vendor so you cut out the middle men. I love the cooked ready to eat food options at this market. My local one only has a tamale guy but here they had that and another 10 vendors of ready to grab bites. I definitely snuck away with some pupusas and a refreshing strawberry lemonade. Now one of my favorite farmers markets - you'll catch me here much more often. Happy Sunday yall.
