They don't care about their employees at all. They would rather have you throwing up on the job than staying home to actually get better. They say they are a family but talk behind your back. High turnaround rate-I wonder why. Stay away and do not work here. read more

This was my first visit. I felt bad coming in with one of the receptionists having an issue with her computer system and being on the phone with a technician. I think the billing person was then trying to handle check outs and now additionally check ins, so there was a small line and delay but not too bad of a wait. During my appointment I was completely thrown off that I was getting my pupils dilated and without question or advance notice. The day before I got a call about the location and if I knew how to find the place, but no notification that I would be getting my pupils dilated, that I should bring contacts or prescription glasses, or sunglasses. Additionally the appointment ended up being an hour and a half which it has never taken that long. I had only anticipated an hour so I had a conference call that I had to get on so I had to put an earbud in while listening to Dr. Bast give me his assessment. He was very descriptive and helpful, confirming my already known inability to get lasik and crushing my hope of ever having my eyes ever be 20/20. The staff is very nice otherwise. read more

Overall my experience there was very good, until I was sent the bill. I scheduled my son's appointment right before mine so they actually pulled us both into the back room together. Our exams were 100% identical. I was charged the $20 co-pay for my son't exam and received a $140 bill for my exam. Why? Well I had retinal reattachment surgery 25 years ago after an accident so apparently I'm now being told every appointment will be billed through medical insurance, which goes against my deductible. I'll NEVER hit my deductive so it's 100% out of pocket. What's the point of carrying vision insurance? I don't know. The billing person wasn't very interested in resolving or even hearing my concerns and actually was a bit condescending, suggesting I may not know the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. GR Ophthalmology never billed medical for any of my previous 20+ appointments. I won't be back and it sucks because my experience prior to billing was pretty good. read more

Find a different office! I saw Dr. Huffman 6 months ago. Did not care for the smug attitude. He seemed amused that my endocrinologist referred me for a consultation to rule out Thyroid Eye Disease, snickered at my glasses & told me to "wear them if I wanted, but they were 'optional'." When I saw my optometrist 3 months later, she suggested an increase in prescription and adding a bifocal. ‍ Dr. Huffman also chuckled at his "diagnosis" of Floppy Eyelid Syndrome for me. I left the office feeling embarrassed & uncomfortable. Months later, as I was 1/2 mile from my home, the office called my cell phone. Given my close proximity to home, I didn't answer. Before I could even get my bag off my shoulder and the voicemail notification came through on my phone, they called my husband AT WORK to let him know that our insurance didn't cover $25 of my visit & if I didn't pay it before 5pm the next day, they would send it to collections. Now today, I went for my 6 month recheck. I paid my copay, completed the forms updated & was ushered to a room, where I sat for the next 45 minutes, with no contact from anyone after the initial tech left, saying Dr. would be "just a minute". I exited the room and asked one of the 1/2 dozen employees by the desk if Dr. would be in soon, as I had been waiting a long time & had dinner guests coming. I was then told he was still with another patient & had someone else still in front of me. Had someone at LEAST poked their head in at any time to explain the wait, I would have been understanding. I requested refund of my copay & let them know that I would not be calling their office again, which got me shrugs & raised eyebrows from the multitude of staff still mingling. I'll be watching my insurance statements closely to be certain they don't try to bill for my wasted time in the room. read more

I have found Dr. Huffman extremely helpful. I have chronic Iritis and he respects that I know when symptoms are coming on and responds to my concerns. Just had successful cataract surgery as well.The staff too is always extremely helpful and friendly. read more
