We waited for over 15 minutes and finally asked someone passing by if we could get a waiter/waitress. She apologized and brought us waters. The waitress finally arrived, took our order and left a plate of relish. Another waiter brought our food out and we never saw our server again. I asked the hostess for a refill on my water and for the check at the end of the meal. The food was delicious, but with this service, we won't be back for a while. It's unfortunate.

We had a party of four and was seated at a low top that had a view of the kitchen. Lively open space with an open kitchen you can see both the cook line and the prep area. We also ordered the double stuffed burrata, and the bread it came with deserves its own mention. Crisp, lightly toasted, with just a touch of char. It paired beautifully with the creamy burrata and the accompaniments on the plate. For my entree I went with the grilled Caesar salad and added shrimp. It ended up being the perfect call. The portion was generous, the shrimp addition made it feel like a real meal. The romaine had this excellent crisp char on it that added so much. The dressing was heavenly. One of the best Caesar dressings I have had in a while. My favorite parts of the night had nothing to do with what was on my plate. We got to watch chef Sara Bradley working the kitchen with her team during service, and it was clear why this place has the reputation it does. The bar menu looked interesting but we didn't order any adult beverages this time. The service was friendly and since most of the tables were full, I think the speed at which our food came out was acceptable. However, my food wasn't hot but my husband's food was piping hot. I took a star off because their 2 pc catfish meal is really only one filet cut in half. So if you're hungry, or if you're expecting full filets, you may want to consider the 4 pc meal. The prices are very reasonable. I didn't get any names of those who waited on us but the older gentlemen exchanged a few dad jokes with my husband which was fun. Hubs and I were anxious about our pulled pork. There's another BBQ place in Hayti that's A++, so it would be extra disappointing if the pulled pork wasn't good at Homeplate. It was fantastic. Tender, moist, well seasoned with a nice smokey flavor. My sides were also delicious; Mac and cheese tasted like someone had made an effort and the okra was fried crisp. We both enjoyed our meals. There's plenty of seating inside, booths and tables. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. There is also plenty of parking. Home Plate will probably become our regular spot.
