Preeti has been threading my brows since 2011, she's been a blessing ever since. When I met her my brows were very thin due to waxing and poor judgment of tech. Since I've been seeing Preeti my brows have grown tremendously. I am complimented almost daily on how "beautiful" my brows are. She is very patience, asks questions and shares with you any concerns she might have about the look of your brows prior to making any decisions. Update to my review: As I was getting upset during my haircut, Elina told me to call her if I didn't look good after drying wavy. I called after a few days to tell her I was very unhappy with the cut, it was uneven and way too shag layered, she told me to schedule a time to come in and if she couldn't fix it she'd give me the refund I was asking for. So I go in this morning and show her what I'm unhappy with. She got very defensive and almost belligerent and told me it was exactly what we discussed and she thought it looked beautiful and I'd have to wait for it to grow out. I asked about getting a refund and she yelled that she doesn't give any and threw my husband and I out, no apology. That kind of arrogance and defensiveness combined with lack of skills is appalling. I recently moved to the UWS and walked into the closest salon for a haircut. I am not sure how well they do Womens cuts but they are completely ill equipped to cut men's hair. First off, they do not have any clippers whatsoever... After attempting to do a fade with scissors, they used a trimmer to cut my hair. The result is a horrible fade with white lines running down my head. This was the worst haircut I ever received. To top things off the cost for a men's cut was $65!!! Who charges $65 for a men's cut?!?!? If you look online even the most expensive average is in the 30's... In the end I will need to visit another stylist to fix this mess. I've been a loyal client here for years since I first started "cheating" on my regular stylist who had jacked the prices for coloring. Those who complain about Elina are certainly entitled to their opinion but I personally adore her. She has a strong personality and an incredible work ethic, which I find admirable. She runs that place on her own with all the professionalism of a completely dedicated small business owner, a quality that I believe commands respect. Regarding the services, I love the "Eli Blowout". She works quickly but every time I've gotten one, I get compliments from guys. I mean, come on - how many guys compliment you on how good your hair looks? That's a sign of a darn good blowout. I also like the atmosphere. I've been there so many times I've started to make friends with some of the other regulars. Sometimes I stay beyond my appointment just to laugh and gossip over a complimentary glass of wine. Again, although her staff giggles and gossips with us, they are not allowed to drink on the job which is another sign of professionalism. (I know this may seem obvious but I've seen the opposite at other salons). Finally, I'm a person with an erratic schedule who travels frequently. Elina always manages to accomodate me last minute, even when she's busy (and I have seen the salon packed, contrary to the person who says it's always empty. That is simply untrue, and kind of an absurd thing to say for someone who isn't there all the time. The person who is there ALL the time is Elina. Working. Making it on her own.) I came here for a blow out for some engagement pictures. The place was clean and everything ran on time. The staff was friendly, though my stylist made a few comments on what else I should have done to get getting for the pictures, possibly she was just trying to sell me more services. I'm a casual girl & that blow out was all I was doing. The reason I've given it three stars is frankly my blow out just wasn't that great. It looked about the same as I could do at home, which isn't saying much. It didn't stay too long and though my hair looks smooth in the pictures, it looks fairly flat and uninspired. I've been looking for a new place to get my haircuts and blowouts when I stumbled upon their sign on the side walk. The salon is located on the second floor and I decided to give it a try. Matthew greeted me and his warmth and friendly personality made me feel at ease right away. I was lucky it was a freezing cold day and so he was able to take me on the spot. He took a look at my blonde hair (which had not been cut in over a year) and recommended a deep conditioning treatment to combat the damage from coloring and styling my hair as well as a cut. Safe to say I walked out of the salon a couple hours later with brilliant shiny and soft hair and a gorgeous face framing cut. The blowout was on point and looked even better the next day. Matthew is very skilled at listening to what his clients want and making sure they walk out of the salon glowing. Whoever cut my hair was very nice, but it's terrible. I was a bit concerned about the lack of technique while having it done. Now that its had some time to settle, its still no good. I got the best blowout ever and they were having some $30 blowout sale so it was, by far, also the cheapest blowout on the upper west side. Elina is the best! I was looking for a salon in the 70's and my friend highly recommended this place. Elina gave me one of the best cuts I've had in a very long time. I have long semi curly hair which tends to hang, so I was worried about keeping it long, shaping it, and giving it bounce so that I didn't feel shaggy. Elina really did a wonderful job. She blew it dry (which I rarely do) and gave me a really cute flippy blow dry. I wear it natural and curly, and it still looks good, but I will definitely return whenever I want a blow dry or another cut. I wandered around this neighbourhood for MONTHS until I found SSS -- best blow dry anywhere -- the stylists are versatile, but if you want something chic, and FAST - -there's nothing like it. I wanted to get a quick blowout for an event a few weekends ago and when I called on Saturday afternoon they were able to fit me in and were super polite. I can't comment on the salon services here, as I come strictly for threading services with Preeti. I have been following her from Perfect Shapes to Zahra and now here. I'm very particular when it comes to my eyebrows, and I haven't found anyone that I trust more than Preeti. I will forever follow her until she retires.
