Stopped by for lunch first time here . Service is 5 stars they are very attentive . Ordered sesame chicken lunch combo . The portion was small compared to other lunch specials from Chinese places but for the price it was good 12.95 came with soup rice one potstickers and one egg roll . Unfortunately both potstickers and egg roll had a flavor that was not pleasant . Chicken was really good and veggies . I love supporting local mom and pop places . Winnie was our server today for dinner. She is always friendly, welcoming and accommodating of any special requests. Today we asked to be seated in their back room as the front of the restaurant was quite full. She seated us right away and as we sat down she took our drink orders and handed us our menus to peruse while she got our drinks. I ordered the chicken with double mushrooms and hubs ordered the beef broccoli and an order of sesame balls. My dish had a wonderful brown sauce and lots of juicy chicken and perfectly cooked vegetables and mushrooms galore. So yummy!! The beef broccoli was delicious too, broccoli fresh and crisp and beef cooked to perfection. Overall the restaurant has a calm family atmosphere to it with fantastic Asian cuisine. We stopped in after our long bike ride at Lake Murray. It was a bit empty but we were taken good care of. The food was hot, fresh and served in a friendly manner. The decor is old school red, black lacquer and brass details. Feels a bit dated but we were more hungry than looking at the drapes. Vegetables Lo mein, crispy spring rolls, General Tso's chicken, white rice and cold iced tea. The menu offers Hunan, and American-Chinese cuisine. Plenty of tables for couples or a group. We were going to a show at MP Dance across the street and stopped here for an appetizer. The host was very unwelcoming and put us is a warm backroom. Chopsticks Inn is a surprisingly spacious (back room available) spot with pan Asian eats and boba like this Thai Tea and tarot. the tarot was creamy and flavorful but could have done with a larger format, more tapioca pearls and more sugar. the Thai tea had a bit of an artificial taste. they offer udon noodles too! read more

In 2019 I wrote, "As another reviewer remarked, this is a surprising rating. Well, maybe it is a 4.8 because of the weird parking lot -- at first glance all the slots are green, there is a 30 minute sign on one side of the row, and a sign at the exit saying if you walk off the lot your car will be towed. There is actually some normal parking. The food is phenomenal. I particularly love yakisoba, and most places get it wrong. This place gets it right. The bento boxes are good, and a companion had the salmon and it was cooked correctly with good crispy skin. The ramen is good, the dim-sum plate was good if not quite equal to a real place with carts. Usually a place with such a big menu does a poor job. I am just so pleased to have found such a gem in a strip mall in La Mesa. The service was first-rate." I have returned many times since with equally pleasing results. So we had the chicken chop suey and soft noodle with shrimp and a cup of wonton soup and white rice that comes with the chop suey. We also had the hot green tea.the food was delicious and very fresh. The service was fast and very courteous. As we walked in for dinner only one couple was there. Shortly after, it started to get busy and takeout was also happening. I've heard rave reviews about this place for a long time and I'm adding to it. It's simply delicious and I could tell that everything was freshly made. I had the curry chicken family meal which came with a thick egg drop soup, an egg roll and a fried shrimp. My husband had the kung pow chicken. We didn't need soy sauce because everything was so flavorful. It also wasn't crowded and it's so nice to be able to have a conversation without shouting in a noisy restaurant. A few people came in while we were there, one or two picked up food to go. The parking curbs say that there is a limited time. I'm wondering if anyone enforces this in the evening? Do they not know we need time to eat? Strange when there's plenty of parking (at least when we were there). The restaurant also looks like it's part gift shop, lots of little trinkets if you need anything that you can't find at the nearby thrift shop. Overall, I recommend it! read more

The décor at Chopsticks Inn may be plain and homespun, but if you look closely around, you will notice there are thoughtful touches sprinkled about---a red-and-white chinese ceramic bowl here, a mirrored disco ball there, that add to the warmth of the space. Although the menu at Chopsticks Inn is focused on China, you can detect there is also a pan-Asian theme thoughout. For example, earlier this week, I enjoyed a Thai Beef dish with aspragus added, and it was beautifully green-green-green as requested. There are no wines by the bottle offered. However, Eric is happy to bring you two glasses of wine at the same time to avoid having to constantly re-order. There is an ample-sized parking lot out front, but its design and vehicle routing is somewhat quirky, so be aware. It must also be noted that on several occasions, the handicapped parking has been blocked by delivery vehicles or people picking up take out food, both of which are unacceptable. Hostess did not bring all the dishes out at once, one person got theirs and had to wait several minutes (while others got served partial as well) before serving rest of food. The veggies on the Sweet & Sour dish were crunchy, could have been cooked longer. The house tea was pleasant and highly recommend. We had to ask for hot sauce, no condiments on the table. The potstickers were good sized with decent flavor, but undercooked. The BBQ pork buns were small with little filling, and undercooked/doughy. The filling had little flavor. Miles down the road, I realized no napkins were provided. No napkins or utensils/chopsticks were offered. The potstickers were an avoidably messy to eat by hand. Overall I was disappointed. As a walk-in, they may have tried to prepare my order quickly, but I would rather have waited a few minutes longer. read more

It was a terrific dining experience. The service was great. We ordered three items on the menu and we all shared. Plenty of food, each dish was very tasty and the server took the time to help us order just the right style noodles we were looking for. The best Chinese in the area. Bar none. Better than Panda Country, La China, and Mr Spicy. Their potstickers and shu mi are HANDMADE. You can taste the quality in the dough. Its not frozen or packaged stuff. It's delicious. The noodles are everything I've been seeking in eastish county. Saucy deliciousness with the perfect ratios of meat, noodles, sauce, and vegetables.
