Here are the lobster dumplings and our drinks. No water, no silverware, no plates. no napkins....you get the picture
    Emily P.

This place was strange. When you walk in, they ask if you want Sammy's or Roppongi. We asked if we could sit down and order from either restaurant, but the waiter said no. Half of the outside space is for Sammy's and the other half is for Roppongi, and you have to choose before being seated. It felt confusing and disjointed from the start. We chose Roppongi because we saw online they had sushi and we were craving sushi with a sunset view. We were seated, given menus, and hot hand towels. We ordered drinks, but even with the place being slow (maybe five tables total between both restaurants), it took almost 30 minutes to get them. The cocktails were NOT good. Both tasted flat and salty. During that whole wait, we had no water service, no napkins or place settings, and no one checked on us. When our waiter finally came back, we asked about the menu because it had no sushi, no raw fish, not even a poke bowl. The closest option was the crab stack. She explained that they did have sushi, but the sushi chef left to open a new restaurant in La Jolla, so they had to take it off the menu. Very strange decision for a new restaurant. We ordered the lobster dumplings on her recommendation. They came out quick relative to the drink timing, but we waited about five minutes before they brought silverware or plates. We just sat there laughing at how comical the whole experience was. When we finally tried them, they were clearly frozen dumplings, nothing special. After that, we got the check and decided to go somewhere else for dinner. It's a shame because the view is gorgeous and the restaurant has a lot of potential. But the management seems to be the real problem. Slow cocktails, slow service, a menu completely changed within months of opening, and no sense of care from the staff. We won't be returning.

The food here is amazingly good! We ordered the hot rock, hamachi tacos (I think that's what they're called), lobster pot stickers and a couple of the rolls and every single dish did not disappoint! Our server Jordan was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu as I had never been to the previous location although my friend had. Will definitely return

I am coming at this review as someone who eats at very high end restaurants and eats at a new restaurant 3x a week. With that said I really wanted my first time at Roppongi to be good. I held my excitement to come here for a few weeks. We came in on a Thursday night at around 8, ordered a couple cocktails, I ordered a simple lychee martini and my husband got the melon cocktail with Midori. Initially I noticed it took awhile for them to return to our table to put in the other. I feel the drinks are a bit on the hot side price wise. A couple bucks cheaper would sit a bit better. One small note that I noticed right off the bat is that we were seated at a four top and they never removed the other two place settings at our table. Such a small point but a detail I noticed none the less. We ordered the crispy tofu, tom yum soup, short rib dumplings Sm and chicken satay. We were never asked for we wanted them to come out +the answer for us is always, as it's ready). The soup hit the table five minutes before the rest , it was piping hot and honestly the best soup I've ever had. It was very expensive and quite small but I would 100% return just for that mouth watering soup. The rest of the items were dropped off at the table all together. Ok not a problem, maybe they were just ready at the same time. NOPE I took one bite of the short rib and it was cold both inside and out. Texture and flavor are good, I can tell they are in house made. The crispy tofu was not terrible but also not my fav. The pieces are giant and only lightly fried but the strong soy flavor is something that would make me want to order again despite the huge squares. After almost finishing we finally saw our waitress again and asked for share plates which arrived immediately. When they got back I informed her about the cold dumplings which we had both only taken a bite of at that point. We then asked for boxes and the bill. TLDR: dumplings cold, if you are too present yourself with the cost and high end food then some details need to be worked on.

Near perfect family dining experience! Please know which restaurant you want reservations for since the hotel split it into Roppongi Asian Bistro on the left side and Sammy's Restaurant + Bar on the right. The food is a 9 out of 10 for this type of cuisine. We really liked the Asian restaurant design and decorations which had some nice touches. Let's talk about the tasty crispy tofu, pineapple fried rice, pork belly drunken noodle, Indian satay, Mongolian grilled shrimp, Kahlúa pork spring rolls that was done right! The only complaint I have is that the warm miso soup should be better served at a hotter temperature. The waitress was the epitome of professional friendly and courteous service which earned her a big tip - well deserved!

We went to Roppongi's to celebrate our anniversary, we signed our marriage certificate at this spot so wanted to revisit the location and check out the new concept. The food was delicious, the drinks were great and the service was amazing. We will be back, especially at this time to enjoy the sunset

Crab Yakisoba, Tiger Steak, Lychee Martini, and Chef's Choice Sashimi

New I.B. Favorite! We had such a great dining experience at Roppongi! We ordered the Crab Yakisoba, Crying Tiger Steak, and Chef's Choice Sashimi -- everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Crying Tiger Steak in particular was tender and perfectly cooked, and the sashimi selection felt premium. We dined inside and were lucky enough to snag a table with an ocean view -- the ambiance was relaxed yet upscale, with just the right vibe for a date night or sunset hang with friends. It's easy to see this becoming a go-to spot in Imperial Beach. Highly recommend if you're looking for quality sushi, a chill atmosphere, and a front-row seat to the sunset.

We had a great experience. Food was amazing. Jordan was the best server. We tried a little bit of everything. The Ube cheesecake was probably my favorite.

I use to be a regular at the La Jolla location before it closed down years ago. When I heard they reopened a location in IB, I had to go check it out. Also heard they are in the process of reopening the La Jolla location too. Tasted just as good as I remembered. So happy Roppongi is back with the a lot of their old popular items. The service was great and can't go wrong with ocean front views during sunset.

Our server, Alex was very attentive service was right on. He checked to make sure if we wanted appetizers with dinner really appreciated that we ended up having the lobster dumplings and the crab stack. One of us got the pork belly drunken noodles, the shrimp pad, Thai, and the beef with the horseradish and potatoessurprise us with a messy Sunday for one of our person's birthday overall experience great. This is second time I've been here

This place named itself "sushi bar," but it also says it's an authentic Mexican seafood restaurant?…read moreThat feels like an identity crisis lol. I was given chips, salsa, and an appetizer soup thing in a cup. The chips were fine. I thought the soup was alright. I didn't like the salsa as I found it too watery and lacking in flavor, more like a hot sauce than a salsa. I ordered two hand rolls, a spicy tuna roll and a salmon skin roll. I thought they were good. I found the salmon skin too crispy and deep fried for my preference, but it was still good. Finally, I realized that not only do I never eat authentic Mexican seafood, I'm not even sure what that entails. So I dug through the menu and saw something called "Don Tono," described as stuffed with seafood, but without much other explanation. I asked the waitress what this Don Tono is exactly, and to my surprise, she wasn't sure either. So, of course I had to order it. It was a big thing of aluminum foil with goodies inside, kinda like a seafood bake. It was good, although I found the flavor to be a undertuned. I would've liked some Cajun seasoning. The best texture and taste was probably the fish itself as it was light and flaky without being mushy, and it absorbed the umami of some of the other seafood. I thought the shrimp and shellfish were just okay, and maybe just a tad overcooked for me. Honestly, I was also not a huge fan of the cheese here; I feel like it doesn't quite fit. I also got some rice and salad with it, which were both fine.

The owners are from Modena, Italy sharing their delicious recipes from back home. I had to do a little research on Modena because I had never heard of this city. It's north of Tuscany. Modena is a city in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, famous for its UNESCO World Heritage historic center, luxury car industry (Ferrari & Maserati), and world-renowned gastronomy, particularly traditional balsamic vinegar, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and Lambrusco wine. The restaurant provided complimentary bread with their homemade balsamic vinaigrette, which was excellent!! Affordable and nice, family-friendly breakfast next to the beach…read more Stopped by to have breakfast with my family of five, including 2 adults and 3 kids who eat like adults. There is parking on-site and on the street. You can enter the parking lot either through Sea Coast Drive or Imperial Beach Boulevard. We arrived at 9:30am on a Saturday and found plenty of open parking. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and seated ourselves in the patio area. A server came over right away, took our drink order, and brought us menus. She refilled our drinks before they were empty and brought us boxes once she saw we were done. She was attentive and anticipated our needs. She was always friendly whenever she stopped by our table. My Denver omelet came with home fries and toast, for a small fee I substituted the toast for pancakes. The cheese on my Denver omelet was burned. I prefer the cheese to be melted and stretchy, as it adds flavor and texture to the omelet. The burned cheese took away from the overall flavor of the omelet. The home fries are always delicious - slightly crispy, well-seasoned, with sautéed bell peppers topped with queso fresco. The pancake was dry and didn't have much flavor. I've been here many times before, and the pancakes are always delicious. The breakfast sandwich was okay. The tomato was a bit overwhelming and made the sandwich slightly soggy. The breakfast burger was tasty and made just as ordered. The mini chocolate chip pancakes were really good, definitely on the sweet side. The portions are big and you will definitely have leftovers. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Both areas have many TVs showing different sporting events, making it a great place to watch a Padres game. The fries were more like seasoned fries, very crispy and soft. The clam chowder tasted good as well. *Lobster roll : 4/5 - Honestly it was a nice solid lobster roll. I was really surprised on the bread they have used for this. It was more a texas toast, buttered on each side. The lobster tastes fresh, the shallots were a nice addition on top. It also comes with a side of fries which were very crispy and soft. *Octopus Cocktail: 2/5 - Its made for 2 people. I thought it would taste good with the mango and jalapeno extract but man that spice leaves a mark in your throat. Key lime tequila was good as a had a key lime foam on top. Mezcal was nice and smokey. *Blue drink: 5/5 - Tasty, sweet, and the ice cream on top was a very nice addition on top. The drink was pretty much like a very sweet mai tai, enjoyed it. Apparently this place is going through some company changes because online there is no menu available. I have dropped it in the pictures below to get a better idea of whats available here. Although it is mostly seafood, not all of it is. It's a solid dinner for seafood lovers. The service was exceptional. On a side note I will say management needs to do something about the restrooms situation. I don't mind all gender restrooms, but its a concern when I can see the person next to me in the other stall. Its a huge glass mirror and underneath the mirror is a huge sink where you can wash your hands. There is a space between the mirror and sink where if someone needs to do their #2 they can actually see the other person. Not very private and somewhat concerning.
