It might be campy but it's definitely NOT the place for cool records. Cactus and Sound Exchange wins hands down! The place was more like a glorified thrift shop and the vinyl....not the best selection. Way overpriced on the used stuff, especially considering the poor condition of most of the stuff. The guy running the place, Thomas, was not knowledgeable about most of what he had to sell and has to refer to price guides continually. Also, he had a smirky "I'm cooler than you" attitude the whole time I was in there. To top it off, he was incredibly rude to a few other customers while I browsed. I won't be back. Cool place, nice atmosphere. We came to town to visit some friends and family and decided to come check this place out. I left with 3 bobble heads and 2 records. I definitely dig this place's selection of merchandise! I regret not buying more bobble heads, since I collect random/weird ones, but eh, one can't blow all his cash on'em, I guess. fledgling music stores aspire to be "Sigs Lagoon" when they grow up. Its as simple and honest as it can be. You walk into the joint and unless you are a complete welfare case(Tragically my situation) You will be walking out with something, probably more than you bargained for. Judging from the price range, 50 bucks will take you far and wonderful places. The selection is limited, but I've always been a QUALITY over quantity guy myself. As far as the atmosphere, its very welcoming, a very helpful and courteous staff(Tomas E.) was willing to answer questions even at the jammed-packed-to-the-gills book signing(Andy Bradleys "House Of Hits") I was attending. Truthfully if you are looking for great music, or just a some cool swag from local artists, or even B-Movie action figures, Sigs Lagoon is your shop. This place has a massive collection of vinyl. LPs of all genres, along with a large collection of 12" singles, and 45s all at reasonable prices. Just when you are beginning to get overwhelmed by the selection you will find there is an UPSTAIRS of more bargain records! They do have cassettes and CDs as well, but this store is probably 85% record inventory. There is also a large assortment of posters and collectible items scattered about. The evening that I visited the guy working was the perfect amount of friendly without being pushy or impatient. It really upgraded this from a 4 star to 5 star experience. I spent probably about 1.5 hours (or more) rummaging through just about everything and came out over $120 poorer, but richer with awesome music finds! read more

My son loved this place, and so did I. The place is so neat. Their decor is amazing. The upstairs is where all the used vinyls are, and downstairs are the new ones. The prices are very reasonable. I think you can pretty much find every record in the world here. My son spent over an hour inside, and I could tell that was not nearly enough time. It was like Christmas for him. We bought 6 record for under $200, and some of them were rare ones. I would bring my son here again. read more

Sig's contains a treasure trove of used vinyl. Excellent selection of soul, jazz, r&b, plus old school country and rock. High marks also for the reasonable prices. Best of all, the records were very well organized and labeled. This makes browsing so much nicer! The selection at Sig's is really good, but it's not so large as to overwhelm the casual browser. They also have a smaller selection of new vinyl if that's your thing. Lots of great artist memorabilia displayed around the shop and very friendly service too. Definitely worth a stop if you're a vinyl lover like me! read more

Great record store with a huge selection and a tiki theme. They have many new LPs, sadly a bit overpriced which is why I didn't give this place 5 stars. The used selection is very large, they have many rare and hard to find records. 2 crates of rare Beatles albums, another crate of rare and interesting records. The guy working at the time was real chill and really nice. They have books and tiki magazines as well as a lot of the Tiki Farm mugs. In short, huuuuge selection, fun tiki stuff, nice staff. read more

This was my first visit and I was extremely impressed. The selection was impressive and you could choose between new or used vinyl. Prices were reasonable and you find something inexpensive, or a pricier collectable. Your choice. The owner is extremely friendly. I think Sig's Lagoon is a little secret here in Houston. Located right next to a number of hip bars and venues right off of Main st, the little shop sells a great selection of new and used CDs and Vinyl. They also sell books, dvds, and gifts. The owner, Tomas, is really friendly and never minds playing me CDs and records before I buy them. He's also turned me on to some pretty hip music. Sig's carries all kinds of music, but if you're interested in obscure 50's and 60's music, rare International compilations, soul, funk, Latin, and garage you will absolutely love this place. The store looks small when you first walk in, but there's a whole upstairs area full of thousands of used records. Awesome store! read more

I always find good stuff here and the owner is very friendly. Some times the records are a tad more than they are worth, but if you consider the cost of shipping or importing records the prices are actually very fair. Great shop with a fantastic selection! Helpful staff as well. They have a little of everything, from soul to country, jazz to rock, a good selection of female torch singers and even a section of rare blues and soul records. Shop is somewhat smaller than others, but packs a big punch! You won't walk out empty handed!! Parking could be a little better but that issue is far outweighed by the greatness of Sig's. Supremely impressed by the selection here-- especially the jazz/blues. Found some gems I'd been after for a while and a few I didn't know I needed. Could have easily picked up hundreds of records here if finances allowed it. Be sure to lay eyes on the exceptional rarities lining the walls-- it was an honor to see such well cared for artifacts in person. Walking into this place is like a music lovers paradise! haha, I especially loved the Kurt Cobain/Nirvana section, being a huge fan of his. I went with a friend, and I browsed the bottom floor of vinyls while she was at the top picking up some classics. I purchased a couple of records and loved them :) The Smiths was my favorite.
