Super mellow atmosphere, they didn't even raise an eyebrow at a dirt like me. Bottles of Session are cheap, but they do charge extra for rice with your dinner. The food is so good I ate all of my dinner and then my tummy hurt so good. read more

I have never been disappointed by their appetizer! Especially the crap wonton and pot stickers, simply the best I have got so far! I have also tried their green curry with jasmine rice, pad Thai, and eggplant lover. Personally I love their rice meals more than anything else. read more

Consistently most excellent. We LOVE the spicy green beans appetizer because the beans are not over cooked and the chili sauce is amazing. They have a way with Thai curry. Like the green a lot. I wasn't sure what to expect, as I am still on the prowl for a great Thai experience here in Tacoma. Went by for lunch, and ordered a Larb Gai salad and shared an order of the potstickers, they were both good. My co-worker had the red curry, was very yummy. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to find a warm and inviting interior and the smells were spectacular. I'm still searching, but this is on my list for when I am needing a thai fix. read more

I am basing this review on takeout. The decor is really beautiful. When I call in my order my food is sitting there waiting for me. The staff is polite and the food is grubbin. I have tried the Pad Thai , Pineapple Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles all with Tofu. I have had better Pad Thai but it was still good. The drunken noodles... YUMMM. Today I tried a thai iced tea. It was pretty good It was a bit too sweet, but good. I am a thai food lover and I have tried a few other places in Tacoma and this place gets my vote for sure. Good prices at lunch time. I really feel like there are certain days you should, one of the cooks is mediocre, but the one on the weekends is AMAZING. I say try it, I love and we go at least twice monthly. The ambiance is cool, pretty, and the people are really nice and has a great selection of beer. One of my favorite places. read more

I was a sad panda Seattle transplant to Tacoma, mainly for the reason that I had to leave all the amazing Thai restaurants behind (or at least far enough away that I couldn't get to one for a last-minute weeknight dinner.) UNTILLL I discovered Silk Thai. I judge Thai places by their pad Thai sauce, and this place arrives at that savory sweet just-thick-enough hinting-at-ketchup perfection. Be cautious with the spices, as we ordered 3-star glass noodles with shrimp and my tongue was on fire...worth it, of course. :) The green beans on the appetizer menu were also a hit. Our waitress Tram took great care of us, and the ambience of the elaborately decorated interior with mysterious dark wood and cozy booths made for a great dinner with my husband. We will soon be regulars at Silk Thai! read more

While I will go here out of convenience, I've never understood why people wait in a 40 minute line for this food on a Friday. The service really is mediocre. Once I've happened to catch a really nice waitress but it seems any other time I've gone I get someone who seems bothered by my being there. Plus, they don't serve pork which is my go to when getting pad Thai. It's cute inside, great for a date, but don't get your hopes up too high. read more

Best Thai take out! Big fan of this place. Owned by a wonderful Thai woman. she is here everyday ensuring that the food remains authentic. I've spent a lot of time in Thailand and this is the closest you will get in the area. It's not the pacific NW fusion that you'll find in most places around here. Take out is super fast. 10-15 minutes. Ask for a side of naam plaa. Fish sauce is spicy and brings me back to Thailand. They have a great beer and wine selection. I'm enjoying an excellent Old Rasputin Stout 9% right now. Only drawback is that the service in the restaurant can be a bit slow or unresponsive when busy. read more

Dine in or take out? Either is great. Silk Thai is a gorgeous little date spot, even though its tucked in a nondescript strip mall block off of the area of 6th ave that's usually dead. It's a real find to go here. The inside is dark, intimate and beautiful decorated. Put on something cute and have those coy alluring glances with your beau over a candle. It's that kind of place. I love everything curry and they do curry right. The food is always well prepared, and the service is always prompt and friendly, even if their engrish not so good. The restaurant closes at 9, so be sure to get there early enough, or just order some takeout. read more

This place has a really nice atmosphere, and the decor is really impressive. It's intimate and doesn't have the typical "to-go" atmosphere a lot of Thai places carry. That said, there is another Thai restaurant two blocks away that has better food. They also are better in portions--Silk Thai likes to give you small plates but it doesn't alter the price to reflect that. read more

Service is mediocre and slow at best. Food quality was poor. They do not use a traditional Pad Thai noodle. The noodle they use is very thin and super rubbery, very hard to eat. They use a tomato based sauce in their Pad Thai and the flavor was not good. The Larb salad consisted of ground chicken and poorly executed. The ambiance is nice and the place feels welcoming. 8 do not advise eating here. I will never return. read more

Worst Pad Thai I've had... I ordered a level 4 spice and it had NO spice at all. Didn't taste remotely authentic. Noodles were way different than other Thai restaurants and were extremely soggy. Discovering this wonderful Thai restaurant in Tacoma was a wonderful surprise! The service was spot-on, prompt, friendly, and professional. We actually were on a bit of a time crunch as we were heading to another event and needed to be in and out of there in less than an hour. Our lovely waitress assured us that this posed no problem. We had both lumpia and egg rolls for appetizers, followed by a scrumptious whole fried fish dish that I absolutely loved, and my partner had a delicious tofu stir fry that was out of this world. The decor of Silk Thai, with it's massive bea,s and powerful tall wooden statues, along with exquisite silk paintings and beaded curtain that were beautiful (and not tacky- not an easy feat with beaded curtains!) had the effect of making the space, which is actually rather small, feel much larger and more massive than it actually was. The art, decor, and design felt authentic, and one could almost imagine one was in old Siam. Our attentive waitress was true to her word, and got us out in plenty of time. And despite spending less than an hour there before we had to rush off, we both left feeling that we had just enjoyed a long relaxing and satisfying meal. We will be back! read more
