Pizza is my favorite dish, and Silly Al's never ever disappoints! Most excellent! Love the crust and sauce. We stopped at this place on our way back to Los Angeles from Tucson...and we're so glad we did! Our server, Ella was great: attentive, engaging and so sweet. Al was also a nice guy! The ambiance of this place is cute and definitely gives you old country town vibes. We ordered the Greek salad which was delicious and a large half Mediterranean Pizza (with added chicken) and half Bruschetta Pizza. My boyfriend and I ate the whole thing and washed it down with a pitcher of a nice Irish Red Ale. Definitely would go back!! read more

The best thin crust pizza in many states! We've been here in off months at slow times and during the crAzy busy rv showtime. It's worth the wait! During the show - No to go pizza unless you're there to order in person. We had already waited 40 min for a table and waited another 40 min for the Togo pizza so others could have our seats. What a funny stop. Little town, clean restrooms, pretty decent pizza. What more can you ask for in a road trip pit stop? Service was suuuppper slow so hopefully no one is in a hurry because you've come to the wrong joint. Most of the people working here seem like they have been here for YEARS and they are not in a hurry. Pizza was better than expected - I had the veggie calzone and it was pretty great. The cheesy garlic bread was good, too. LOTS of cheese - which is always okay in my book. They seem to have a full bar and pool tables and TVs with sports on them. Stopped here to just take a highway break and ordered the pizza and wings. And wow were we surprised! Best wings anywhere! We got the BBQ wings and they were noticeably bigger than you usually see for about the same price. We also had the Bruschetta Pizza which was delicious with a great doughy crust. When we stopped for gas and food in Quartzsite, I was very surprised to find a restaurant with 4 yelp stars in the area. Feeling pretty lucky for finding a good-sounding restaurant, we headed over. Despite my failed GPS, we saw it from the main road....because it's on the main road, but the address is technically on the side road. There wasn't much parking in the dirt lot, and the slow 15-under-the-speed-limit locals were almost too much for a hungry group, but we made it. The place is definitely interesting. Lots of cool old decor, like tobacco cans from 70 years ago and black and white pictures. We were in the creepy old-pictures-and-paintings-of-little-kids room. Lots of tables too, and booths, and a bar. And sooooooooooo many people. I know it was a Sunday night, but this place was packed! Every seat taken and another 3 or 4 groups waiting in front. We started off with cheese garlic bread which was...amaaaazing. The bread was nice and buttery and there was a ton of garlic and cheese on top. The kind where you can feel every bite clogging your arteries more and more, but you don't care because it's the most delicious thing you've had in a week. I would recommend that everyone get the stuff! For the pizza, 4 of us split the 20" goliath with BBQ sauce, chicken, and cheddar cheese. It turned out to be the perfect size with 3-4 slices per person. The taste was out of this world, definitely compares to my all-time favorite BBQ chicken pizza (Lamppost Pizza) and although it's probably still second best, it's a damn close second. The BBQ sauce was perfectly flavored, a little bit sweet which went well with the cheese while being smokey and BBQy too. Suffice to say, it explains why our pizza was demolished in under 10 minutes. The negatives were the locals and the parking lot. The parking lot is pretty small and is more of a park however you feel like parking type place. Lots of big trucks spread over 2 or 3 spots because they'd be too long otherwise. Good stuff like that. Still, a little circling was enough to get a spot. The other problem were the... gruff locals. Like the ones who, while leaving the restaurant, whisper "excuse me" and then "HEY THERE, GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY, ********* ***** ******** " followed by a second group of locals waiting by the door, talking loud enough to *easily* hear their opinion us. Coincidentally, I'm sure. But it's hard being angry at a overall-wearing trailer park rednecks and their blue-haired wives with beehives from the 60s when it's really the meth talking, not them. Ahem. Moving on. The staff were super friendly and our waitress was amazing. All of our drinks were refilled before they got anywhere close to empty, she was nice and put up with our out of town ways, and was always right on the ball with making sure we had everything we needed. If I start making the Phoenix drive a usual thing, this place is definitely going to be on my menu for coming back again and again. Though at 2 hours outside the city, it's too much of a drive, but definitely worth it to remember when passing through. Oh, and the name? Amazing. read more

I was spending the day in Quartzsite visiting my cousin who was camping there with friends. First stop for me was of course food. We picked this place because of the menu variety. As bad as the parking seemed to be, it was busy but there were plenty of tables available. Service was ok but not stellar. Likewise with the food. I had chicken Alfredo and it was acceptable but lacking any great flavor. Pizza with salad seemed to be the dish of choice among those that seemed to have been there before so maybe I just chose the wrong dish. read more

My boyfriend & I went to Silly Al's for lunch on a road trip from Palm Springs, CA to Phoenix, AZ. As usual, we decided to consult Yelp for restaurant suggestions. When we saw a 4-star rating with 27 reviews in Quartzsite- We knew we had found our restaurant! We sat in the bar area where we had a very friendly server. She was quick to greet us and take our drink order. Draft beers were only $1, so of course, she twisted our arms and we couldn't resist. For lunch, thanks to other Yelpers... We decided to split a large pizza with mushrooms, onions and Canadian bacon. It was absolutely delicious! The ingredients were fresh and the toppings were generous!! Even my boyfriend, "the pizza snob", was impressed with it. One of the things I liked best about Silly Al's, besides the name, of course... Is that it is obvious the restaurant cares about both the customers & employees. It seems like they have a loyal following of "regulars" and that the employees enjoy doing their job!! Silly Al's is a charming little pizzeria in the blip of a town, on the edge of Arizona, called Quartzsite. Situated off the main street in town, it's a tiny squat building that looks as unassuming as any of the other buildings and shops. Once inside, you are greeted with a wonderfully spacious dining area and bar. It's dark, but the spaciousness of the place doesn't make it feel shady or oppressive. It's also wonderfully cool, a plus on days like today that leave you boiling as soon as you leave the car. The server took her time to come over, but it's the sort of place that doesn't bother me too much. Once my friend arrived, the order was placed and the pizza eventually made its way out to us. The cheese was thick and somewhat greasy, but the pesto sauce was great and the peppers were nice and crunchy still. If you're passing between Palm Springs to Phoenix and are hungry, stop in. It's decent food at a good price. And considering the other options for road food are more trash from the chain restaurants that splatter all over our highways, you could do far worse. read more

I have heard great things about Silly Al's, it's always busy, and they sponsored an event I was in Quartzsite for. I really wanted to spend some money there. I went in on a Monday night, and they were extremely busy. I wanted to order a pizza to go because the place was **VERY** noisy and full of people, and that is not my style. I was told by the cashier the wait for a pizza was one hour. No wonder the place was full and had a line out the door, it takes an hour for them to cook a pizza. Either that, or they are under-equipped for the demand they get. I left after deciding I would wait for another night. The cashier told me it's best to call in my order. In Quartzsite, the desert fills with vacationers and snowbirds, and many of the local businesses aren't even open in the summer because the customers just aren't here during the hottest parts of the year. Businesses are swamped for about six months out of the year, and may be deader than a graveyard the other six. Now it's Friday night, and they won't even answer their phone. So I'm told by someone that is supposed to answer the phone it's best to phone in? How? Send them a telegraph? Smoke signals? Send a raven? Telepathy? I'm not trying anymore. At least with a frozen pizza, I get a damn pizza! read more
