On my day off, I was visiting the Main Trade Post store to see some of the selection of jewelry and crystals, and while there Jim who was working helped someone who accidentally walked into the jewelry store and said it's called Outback Pizza because, it's out back. He confirmed that the next day Outback would be having their karaoke from 3-8pm. Some friends and I decided we would check it out after work, and when we arrived around 5:30 the karaoke was indeed happening. It was a pretty decent sized crowd. There's a small dance floor, and the karaoke jockey on stage, the performer joins on the same stage as the KJ. We made our way in, there were several people in the karaoke area eating their pizzas, and the other room has the walk up bar along with more tables and booths as well as tvs that were playing sports. The pricing here is pretty reasonable for the drinks, beer on tap for $5 as well as $6 mixed drinks if you're in the mood to partake. We were there to experience the karaoke, and we ended up having a blast! The KJ Sonny is well known in town, he runs Country Gentlemen Entertainment and KJ's at a few venues in Quartzite. There is a sign up book where you can write your request, and he made sure everyone got a chance on the rotation. At the end of the night he played some songs so we could dance and we left around 9pm and quite a time was had! We made friends with many of the locals and everyone agreed it was such a great time. I've been a beef jerky connoisseur since I was like 5 years old (haha!), so I know GOOD jerky when I encounter it. The jerky here is overall AMAZING! In fact the array of jerky here and its taste probably rivals the jerky found at Baker's Alien Fresh Jerky in California. My go to jerky here at Daniel's are all the intentionally hot ones! - the Habanero Mango, the Carolina Reaper, and the XXX HOT. Out of the three, the XXX HOT is my absolute go to! It is hotter than anything I've ever tried and remains the King of Heat! This flavor of hot was formerly known as the Colon Cleanser about 4 - 5 years back. I like this one mainly for the taste... however, the taste behind the heat coupled with the hot-kick is addictive! Not to mention, the therapeutic properties of this jerky is medicinal. :D For you to figure out what flavors to pick up, you are offered samples to help you out. The staff here are all friendly and helpful. Please note that the jerky does taste a whole lot better out of a freshly opened bag. For example, the XXX HOT kicks harder out of a freshly opened bag than a sample. Moreover the establishment is clean, and well kept. Even more, there are a lot of other things to choose from here besides jerky. Other meat base jerkies are found here. Novelty-like sodas, candies, hot sauces and even Chocolate Rocks (which are AMAZING!) are found here too. There is something for everyone here to enjoy. I recommend this business, especially for those who love jerky. The price for bags have gone up and don't look like much in a vacuumed package, but the taste and quality IS THERE... I scanned the place and noticed there weren't any karaoke song/title books strewn about... we found out through our friendly waitress that you just tell the Karaoke Master the name of your song and you're good to go. 'Modern,' I thought to myself. I racked my brain for the perfect song for such a perfect place. Piano Man? The crowd did look pretty good for a Saturday. Sweet Caroline? Jesse's Girl? I didn't know. Brian suggested "Friends in Low Places" and we were off to the races. I put both my name and Brian's in for the song. 'It was going to be a duet,' I thought. Good. While we were waiting to entertain the crowd with our vocal talents, we ordered dinner and drinks. Everything was amazing, by the way. Finally, the time had come. The Karaoke Master announced our names, "Chris and Brian, you're up!" I gulped and tugged at my collar. I said to Brian, "Well, here goes nothing." He looked at me and said, "let's rock this place." His fist bumped mine. We both got out of our chairs and headed to the stage. I grabbed the mic, pulled it in close. The microphone smelled like beer. 'Damn,' I thought. 'We should've gone with Piano Man.' No matter, the show must go on. The screen said "Friends in Low Places" is sung in the key of A major, but I ignored it because I did not know what that meant. "Blame it on my roots," we sang. "I showed up in boots," we continued. By the time we got to the chorus, the crowd was up on its feet, the excitement palpable. The locals had started a line dance during the second verse and people were fighting to get to the dance floor. I can't remember if there was disco ball going at some point, but it *felt* like there was, you know? Our collective vocal modulations continued throughout the song, each verse getting somehow better, as if each of us was singing back-up to each other's lead vocals, hearts beating in unison, too. We won over the Big River crowd at Dumas Walkers that night. As Brian and I finished to what felt like thunderous applause, we headed back to our seats, hands clapping our backs, when I heard one patron whisper, "I'd hate to follow that." High praise, it felt good. "Chris, you're up!" the Karaoke Master announced. 'An encore,' I thought. 'Nice.' We stayed for dessert.
