Silly Goose is an intimate bar and lounge located in downtown Memphis. I stopped by for a glass of wine before a show at the Orpheum theater which is walking distance from the restaurant. The main attraction here is the bourbon selection as well as seasonal bourbon cocktails. They have a small menu for bites as well with a turkey burger, fries and some other items. I sat at a middle table and service was a bit slow. The restaurant also smelled strongly of bacon which they serve as a snacking item. I enjoyed the Pinot noir. I've been going to Silly Goose for several years. Although the ownership has been the same, the menu changes, a lot. I'm now happy to report on the new pizza/pasta menu. Although they do not explicitly state the offer pasta, any of the pizzas can be turned into a pasta. The executive chef is very charismatic and spoke to my husband & I before we placed our order. He suggested that mg husband try the Spicy Boi, extra spicy. I asked about one of the pizzas and he told me it wasn't available because they were revamping the sauce. Therefore, I initially ordered the Farm Boy pizza, which had a white sauce. But after placing the order, my husband yelled back to the kitchen that I wanted it as a pasta instead. That was *the* best decision I made that night. Oh my goodness. The whipped ricotta, savory chicken, mushrooms, and bacon were amazing. The pasta was cooked just right. I savored every bite until I hit a wall and asked for a to-go box. My husband found his pizza too spicy and picked off most of the peppers. I had one bite and thought it wasn't for me. Later my friends ordered the Spicy Boi (regular) and that pizza that was allegedly unavailable. They thought the spicy one was just enough. And then were shocked that the other pizza didn't have the sauce listed on the menu. By the time they ordered, there was a different bartender who probably didn't know that pizza wasn't available. Too bad they were told that by the chef. They did like it though, despite the missing sauce. I'm still dreaming of my pasta and can't wait to try more varieties! read more

Our bartender at Pontotoc (sister restaurant, down the street) suggested we give Silly Goose a try. He let the bartender know ahead, and she had "cup of Joe" shots waiting for us when we got there. They were delicious! Apparently they infuse coffee into their bourbon, they have a cinnamon bourbon as well. She gave us the heads up that happy hour was about to end, so we quickly ordered our second round. We had a seat near the bar and ordered the chicken chorizo tacos. They were yummy! I visited Memphis this past weekend for a little under 48 hours. A friend who used to live here said that the Silly Goose would be our starting point for exploring Beale Street and Downtown Memphis. We started the night off here and I was really glad. It was a real cool and chill place (real chill since Memphis was so HOT!!!). I liked the vibe and music of the SG. The scenery was really nice Wink Wink. There were couches and pool tables. The bar had a nice spread so no matter what type of liquor you like there was definitely something for you partake in. The bathroom doors cracked me up I forgot to take pics of the signage (sorry). This is a sip and chill place not a get turnt place well at least when I was there it wasn't. It was early Saturday night so maybe a couple hours late the place could be hype but it was definitely a good starting spot. Check this place out. read more

Tried to go inside to enjoy a drink and the patio outside...before me and my fiancé could even step through the door a "rent a cop" security officer came out and told me I needed to be wearing a shirt to come in...now keep in mind I'm wearing a solid black t shirt with the sleeves cut off and some dress khakis. So after standing there dumbfounded for a moment a group of women wearing absolutely nothing to cover themselves walks up and proceeds to walk in the door. Now you can't tell me I need to be wearing a shirt when you allowed a group of females walk in wearing way less than me, but that wasn't the issue. The issue was when we asked sed "rent a cop" if they're within dress code (just to see if he really knew or was trying to enforce a dress code) but instead of answering any questions he turned to my fiancé and told her that we'll just find somewhere else to "have a good night" and closed the door in our faces. Never will return, being sexist in this day and age is truly disgusting...the way he looked at this skimpy females before they walked in and the way he didn't even halfway attempt to explain himself is beyond me. Worst experience while visiting Memphis. Order the shrimp and grits, the grits were water down with no seasoning and came with only 4 shrimp came inside the dish and it was $20. On top of the horrible food the service was not good, the servers had no communication with each other and one of the servers insisted on arguing with us after we wanted to send the shrimp and grits back. read more

This bar is definitely for the grown and sexy drinkers ha ha ha. The decor makes you feel like you need to order a Scotch and have a cigar while you're here. The first thing you notice is the giant chandelier and several smaller ones, definitely not your standard bar lighting. Then your eyes are drawn to the grey floral wallpaper accent wall, if that's not enough they have button tufted leather booths and crushed velvet chairs. Talk about setting the mood for adult behavior this place nails it. They have a fully stocked bar and make great craft cocktails, I didn't try and food just drinks but wouldn't mind visiting again to try the food. The bartenders were really pleasant and friendly and even though it's off the beaten path you should definitely make a path to this spot. They have a nice outdoor patio area complete with TVs for sports watching and the chairs are set up for people watching. read more

Service was TRASH! We seen they had happy hour until 8pm so we thought we'd stop in for a drink. A guest sitting at the bar welcomed us and said happy hour was still going on (this gentleman was the most friendly). We asked the bartender if happy hour was only at the bar and she said we could sit anywhere. We sat a table and about 5 minutes later a guy came and said they used the table we sat at for poker that night and asked us to move. We were confused but we moved to a sofa near the entrance. We waited what seemed like at least 10 minutes before we were tended too (on a Monday). The bartender came over and apologized that she didn't remember that the table we sat at was going to be used that night. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and my husband ordered the Fall daiquiri. The drinks were good so that's why they got the 2 stars (one for each drink) but I'm really big on service (I work in the service industry) and I was VERY disappointed. Silly Goose occupies the old Swig space, and I give it big props just for the name itself. Silly Goose is one of my favorite expressions, and since most people walk out of there probably acting like a silly goose, it's pretty fitting for a bar. There's a nice vibe here- pretty relaxed for a downtown that thrives on energy. I've never had dinner here, and I have mixed feelings about trying it after reading these reviews (McDonald's? Oh my.), but I definitely like to hang out with friends and catch up after a day at the office. We had a horrible experience at Silly Goose. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the weather and comfortable seating. With the Bruno Mars concert looming, SG was the only place that didn't have a wait in the area. With the place basically empty, our waitress came over and took our orders quickly. We got our drinks at different times and had to ask for water 3 times. My boyfriend's food order never showed up and neither did our waitress after she dropped off our first drinks. A friend asked another waitress walking by if she could help us because we wanted to order more drinks and inquired about the food. She shrugged us off and said our waitress wasn't busy and she would send her. Again, we waited and no waitress...not even to see if we wanted to pay so we could leave! The second waitress came back and, with a major attitude, took the orders of those that wanted to order more. My boyfriend and I had enough after this and I closed out so we could leave. Oh, his food, we still never got it and after canceling it two hours after ordering it, she snapped, "well our kitchen is backed up if you'd just give them time!" Silly Goose should never be on your list of venues to check out in the Beale Street area or anywhere period. If there was something below poor on the rating scale, I would choose the lowest ranking past poor made available. Last night I went to Silly Goose with my wife, brother and sister-in-law as we started our night on Beale Street. In my world travels and recent excursions in the Memphis area, I have never had such a terrible experience in my life. When going out on a summer Saturday night with great weather, you expect to have crowded establishments with lively people and the mindset to deal with certain experiences that come along with the atmosphere and the employee-to-client ratio. However, what was experienced at Silly Goose was absolutely inexcusable and showed a complete lack of customer service. Extremely long wait times for drinks at the bar after we were told we had to get our own drinks from the bar despite having table service on the veranda/patio. Bartenders did not acknowledge our presence after a 30 minute wait upon which we decided to get our card and cash out. Even then we had to get a manager's attention who was no better. He gave many excuses and could care less what we were telling him. You are a Silly Goose if you ever want to have a good time on a busy Beale Street night. I would never recommend attending this venue ever, and especially never attending on a busy night. DO NOT waste your time. DO NOT waste your money. DO NOT waste your fun and cheer. DO NOT GO TO SILLY GOOSE...PERIOD. read more

I go to the Goose often, fun place. Laid back lounge atmosphere for both locals and those just passing through. The owner Daniel is a super nice guy and is incredibly sexy. The drinks are strong and the grilled cheese is on point. I'd recommend swinging in for drink if you're in the area. I'm updating my review. I will no longer visit this place and will take my business elsewhere. They have become extremely stingy with their liquor pours and one of their bartenders (Jeff I believe is his name) is extremely rude and a real jerk. After going to this place for a while I noticed that the drinks were becoming more watered down. I asked the bartender for a bourbon drink straight up with a side glass of ice. This guy poured the smallest glass of Bourbon I've ever had in my life. When I received the glass I basically laughed because I thought it was a joke. Instead of being rude about it and making a fuss at such a small pour, I asked that he take the drink back and just give me a beer as nicely as I could and apologized for the inconvenience. I guess he didn't like that too much and took an extremely negative attitude and began talking in a very condescending tone towards me. I became upset because I asked nicely and I still patronized the bar services by ordering another drink (beer). He began to curse and get loud, totally unprofessional and rude. I took my beer to the patio and I never saw him again until when I left. Because of this experience, I will never visit Silly Goose again and will continue to inform people of how bad this place has turned in to.
