My Mom had been to Sylvia Martinez previously to get her hair cut. I called her on her personal number and left a message to make an appointment, but she never called me back. So I called the salon number and asked to make an appointment with Sylvia. The owner of the salon answered, and told me that I'd need to call back in a few days on Saturday morning to speak to Sylvia directly to make an appointment. I did that, spoke to her and made an appointment for 4 pm the following Tuesday. We arrived at the salon around 3:45 pm for the appointment. To our surprise, the blinds of the shop were shut and the place was closed. We knocked on the door, but no one answered. I asked the man at the restaurant next door if he knew if they were going to open. He said he didn't know, but that they were closed. I called the salon, but no one answered, and I left a voicemail message. I called Sylvia's cell number, but she did not answer, and I left a voicemail message. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior at a hair salon before, and cannot recommend this place. If she had erroneously booked an appointment on a day that they were closed, she should have called me to re-schedule. She had my number. If I could, I'd give this place a 0 rating. read more

After revewing this salon i decided to schedule an appointment with Marine for a Balayage and a cut. She booked an appointment for me very quickly. She is very friendly and outgoing and made me feel very comfortable. I loved her suggestions, she is very knowledgeable with what she does and you can tell she truly enjoys what she does. My balayage came out great! She did caramel tones and i loved my cut as well; she gave my hair texture. The salon was also very clean And organized. Marine went above and beyond my expectations. Found Marine on a Thursday and by Sunday she was working her magic on my hair! Showed her my hair inspiration pic via text and she exceeded my expectations! I was tired of the brassy orange color my hair had taken on and Marine did an absolutely amazing job of getting me to blonde, and in one sitting to top it off! Marine was clear that her number one concern was the health of my hair and we may need multiple sessions but she made a miracle in one sitting! Got my hair done by Marine in March 2018. Marine is amazing. My hair is recovering from a grown out grey ombré. I got the ombré May 2017 but couldn't maintain it because I becmapregnant. So in early February 2018 I went to someone else to balayage my hair and blend my high contrast locks so I could grow it out and not spend too much time with upkeep (I have 3 kids--I don't have time to get touch ups right now). Long story short: Tom Tran f-ed up my hair. I found him through yelp. It was so bad, I went back a few days later so he could try to fix it... it was still f-ed up. Not what I wanted AT ALL AND it was FUGLY. Anyways. Since I had a newborn, I basically kept my hair in a mommy bun because my hair was so bad and plus I needed my hair to recover. Call me insane, but I looked through yelp again to find a new hair stylist. Fortunately, I found Marine a month later. Check out my before and after picture. Marine is amaaaaazing. She blended my high contrast ends with my roots SEAMLESSLY. She factored in my life situation and made sure I had a style that could grow out and when I do have to go into the salon, I'd just need to tone the color (instead of spending more time in the chair to rehighlight or get fouled up, etc). She even recommended that I trim my hair. She sensed my apprehension and so she took a picture of my hair and showed me the exact length that she would trim off to make sure we were on the same page. I really appreciated that. It's as if she was trying to gain my trust in her ability. After this appointment and almost 2 months of grow out--I can say I totally trust her with my hair. My black roots are growing in but Marine strategically highlighted my hair so that the grow out is seamless. She was true to her word, I'd just need toner. Another thing I appreciated was that the copperish color I originally requested was vetoed by Marine. She said it would be too high maintenance for me and recommend a different color that also matched my skin tone. She's an artist and can sense your style but factor in your life situation to give you a hairstyle to match. I can understand why she has some clients that just plop into her chair and let her do what she wants and to just "surprise them." It's been 2 months since my hair appointment and I still love the structure. The original color is long gone and I do need a tone, but I am so grateful that the structure is growing out well. Silva is awesome! She color corrected my hair and did a reverse balayage. I've been trying to go darker for a while now but didn't want to just have one tone. I went to this other stylist someplace else and didn't quite like the results. Since then I tried to fix it again and again but felt I was getting further away from going darker. So I told Silva my story and what I wanted, and she did just that. She incorporated more brown into my hair and blended out the old color.
