They did a marvelous job - our family and friends couldn't stop raving about our photos - thanks to Mariemil and Paolo. In the interest of full disclosure, I do know them prior to hiring them. But in the wedding world were choices abound, we made sure to do our research, particularly in Maui where the wedding was held. After working with them for our engagement shoot, we knew we didn't have to search further. The engagement photos are quite iconic, and thankfully they took on the destination wedding job because they captured so many beautiful memories. Mariemil suggested we use the Cal State Long Beach Japanese Gardens as the backdrop for our family. Very nice. The location was free from crowds and had a number of beautiful settings including koi ponds, wooden bridges, walkways, foliage, etc. She suggested a number of different set-ups throughout the one hour sitting and we ended up with about 100 different photos. WAY more than we had expected. I absolutely LOVE what Mariemil and Paolo are doing. They are creating ART!! Highly recommend.

I am so glad I was able to find her as her photos are beyond amazing and she's such a nice person to communicate with, even though it was just a mini session. I can only imagine the extra details and coordination she does for a full session. This year's session was $375 for 3 digital photos. Adding more digital were at an additional charge [of course]. Love that Santa was included! This year's holiday photo session took place outdoors in a Katy, wooded area. We were able to do a family session, kids session, and sessions with Santa. Santa was perfect! He was dressed in his finest red suit and had the perfect fluffy white beard. He intereacted with my boys as well, allowing them to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. Everyone was very patient with my boys and was able to get amazing photos. Though it was a "mini" session, I loved the multiple options she gave for us to do within that 20 min time frame. My sister had also booked a mini holiday session right after us and she was so reluctant to take photos of all of our 5 boys together ! [ I have 2 and my sister has 3]. Her communication throughout the whole thing was great! So responsive and had a quick and reasonable turn around time. She even asked for an special request of edits which she beautifully granted. I had a high slit dress that was a bit revealing and she was able to make it more modest. The photos speak for themselves. I highly recommend MJ for your photography needs. I was on the fence about maternity photos but didn't want to regret not having them done - worth…read morenoting my engagement photo and wedding photo experience was atrocious, so it was hard to commit to doing this. But I figured I could get them done and if I hated them, could put them in a drawer (or obscure folder on computer) and if I liked them, then hooray! I am delighted to say this was a hooray! Jessica answered the million questions I had before I scheduled with her and made me feel really comfortable that I had made a good choice in photographer before even meeting her in person. She is incredibly sweet and in person definitely made me and my husband feel comfortable during the shoot (we aren't exactly picture type people and generally aren't about having our photos taken), so this was huge for us. It was an actually enjoyable experience. Scheduling was easy and so was communication. Turnaround on proofs and final photos were timely. Pricing is on point and I absolutely appreciate that she was one of the few photographers for maternity and newborn I could find that doesn't force you into a heinously expensive package with order minimums. I bring this up because it was a strong consideration for me when looking for a photographer. I didn't and still don't feel the need to spend $500 on printed photos when I really only want or need a 2-3 hardcopies for my mantle and like having the rest safe digitally and can share with far away family that way (via email/ social media). That said, if you want prints, Jessica can handle that! The photos turned out wonderful and will most decidedly not be being put in a drawer/ obscure folder to be forgotten.
