Friends and I were visiting snowshoe ski resort for several days and were heading back down south. We stopped at a nearby Walmart for few things and were hungry. Looking around at Yelp, we found this place. It had really good reviews, and we were curious how good this place would be. It's located right next to the Walmart in a strip mall. Seems like it's centrally located with a lot of other things. Walking in, there are lots of Chinese themed decorations. You walk up to the cash register and order food. The two people we've met at the restaurant (Chinese man and woman) are the owners. They've owned and operated this for quite a few years, which was a good sign. I asked for recommendations and got Hunan beef lunch special. It comes with fried rice, choice of protein, and egg roll or soup. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to come out. First of all, the portions are huge. They packed so much in the takeout tray. The food was delicious too, not too greasy and didn't skimp out on any variety. However, the eggroll was pretty bare as it only contained cabbage. I'd recommend getting the soup instead. The beef that I got was pretty good, but the entrees that I've tried from my friends were really good as well. Honestly, pick something that you would like to eat because they're all gonna be good. Inside, the place is clean and nicely decorated. The owners were so nice and friendly that they gave each of us a calendar for 2020. If you want Chinese (or want to try something else other than typical fast food chains) in the area, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

    The deliciousness awaits

So naturally when I heard about this casual spot in the Valley View Mall serving these and other Signature Drinks and Akai Bowls I immediately planed a trip to the Mall to try it out. This very unique establishment located in the Food Court of the Valley View Mall in a location behind a large window counter near the Barnes and Nobles Bookstore and Food Court tables and chairs, is one of the businesses in the Mall that is continously full with people of all ages: families, friends, and others, wanting to enjoy some quality time together, enjoying a special treat and drink. When I arrived at the place I examined the menu located above the wall in bright menu displays. A young lady employee greeted me with a smile and took my order. I ordered an Iced Thai Bubble Tea with Boba and some Ohio Crepes with Peanut Butter, Nutella, Banana, and Crushed Cookies. Both items were very fresh and delicious. As I enjoyed eating and savoring the Crepes at one of the tables in the Food Court area of the Mall, I observed many other people passing by this business and ordering especially Smoothies and Specialty Drinks. I highly recommend this place whenever you want to enjoy a special Crepes treat and freshen up with a cool glass of a Smoothie or Specialty Drink.

Pleased to find a boba shop in Roanoke, I certainly wanted it to succeed. The hours are a bit odd,…read morebut there was some notable quality of ingredients. However, ordering a fruit-flavored tea with one topping set me back over $10 with tip. Unless tea is being brought from the Strait of Hormuz, this seems unrealistic to me. I've had a lot of better bubble teas for a better value, but of course these were in bigger cities. Maybe it's just too tough to bring a quality product to Roanoke. I hope the area can support a place like this, but I'm a little skeptical unfortunately.

And…read moreso when I found out that this Panda Boba had just opened its door in a very desired location in Vinton, Virginia, I had to be the first one to go explore and see what it was all about. Located across the street from Pollard 107 South Restaurant, in the Town of Vinton, Panda Boba is housed in a modern, small open space area furnish with simple yet elegant and comfortable furniture. The owners are a couple Vietnamese immigrants who were very welcoming and hospitable when I entered the restaurant for the first time. The menu included a great variety of flavored Bubble Teas and Smoothies with the option of including two types of bobas: the traditional ones which are chewy, small tapioca pearls that are commonly added to bubble tea drinks. Bobas are made from tapioca starch extracted from the cassava root, giving them a distinctive chewy texture when you bite into them. And another type that are filled with flavored juices inside so when you bite into them these flavors are released. The wife and one of the owners of the business was the one I first met when I arrived to this unique business. She greeted me warmly from behind the counter with a big smile. There was a small menu on the counter and a large, lit version hanging from the wall behind the counter. I ordered a Mango Smoothie with the Bobas that had the Mango flavored juice inside. She immediately went to work making my Mango Smoothie with bobas. As she was doing so, her husband, the co-owner, and son arrived. It brought back some happy memories because when I was growing up my father also opened a cafeteria business in San Juan, Puerto Rico, that ended up being very successful and made it possible for me going to the college of my choice. As I sat down drinking my Smoothie through a wide straw that allowed the bobas to slip up, a couple came in and made an order as well. They also seemed happy to have this new business here. I highly recommend that those reading this review go and try it out. You'll discover a refreshing drink with bobas that will give it a special texture never to be forgotten.

Their menu suggests that they used to offer more fake meat style vegetarian dishes but have switched to vegetables and more conventional tofu, which is fine by me. It was a decent-sized menu selection. The flavors were basic, heavy on garlic and on the sweeter and saltier side. The portion size was quite large and I saved and ended up freezing a bit of it because it was so much. Their you xiang tofu was the sweetest dish and not quite my preference, but having a potato and onion dish to balance it out with some savory notes was helpful.. Overall, the food was not what you'd want in a more urban area, but basic Chinese takeout here is not nothing.
