I stopped in at Silver Kiva the other day after having shopped at a few other jewelry stores in Old Town Scottsdale. I was looking around, and the owner, Nasser, came up to me to greet me and my mother-in-law and welcome us. He saw a ring I was wearing and asked if I'd like to see another piece that was similar. He brought out the most gorgeous pendant that matched my ring exactly! He also showed me a pair of matching earrings that I wasn't crazy about because of the posts. He offered to change them to ear wires on the spot at no charge, and after trying them on I was smitten! He is extremely knowledgeable about Native American artisans, and has a wide selection of pieces at very reasonable prices. His customer service is superb; I didn't feel pressured at all, and enjoyed chatting with him and other customers about different artisans and styles of jewelry. He made sure I was taken care of in a timely manner and always let me try on and wear different, beautiful pieces to get a feel and look for them. He also brought out different rings for me that matched a bracelet I had on. They were perfect and some of the best pieced of jewelry I have ever seen. He also knows his stuff through and through. He was able to identify a bracelet just by its craftsmanship and show me how much it is worth now, as opposed to when it was bought a few years ago. I first found Nassar and Silver Kiva over 20 years ago and love the jewelry I have from his store. A few weeks ago, I lost the main stone from a watchband that I bought from Ebay. I called Nassar and sent the watch to him, along with another watch tip set and a single earring. He was able to fix the watch band, the tips and turned the earring into a pendant. By far the worst experience I have EVER had at a shop anywhere. We had friends from out of town who we brought to Scottsdale to look at the beautiful jewelry. My husband asked the two guys standing behind the counter where the jewelry came from. He was extremely rude and said "why?" My husband said OK and started to walk away. He the said it was from China. I said under my breath that I didn't need to shop there. He the told the guy that was with him, "did you hear that? They said they didn't want to shop here, like we care." I just could not believe that the owner of any business could be that incredibly rude to anyone. We were not being smart at all. If I could give zero stars, I would. The shop owner accused my mother of buying the ring somewhere else when she tried to exchange it. She wore the ring one time and it broke and the store owner Nasir refused to replace the ring without charging her to do so. When I went to pick it up, I argued that there should not be a charge and he said where is her receipt she could have purchased it somewhere else. I told him that I would bring the receipt back and if he would return it which of course he would not. Do not purchase anything from this dispiccable man.
