I ordered a few small plates; Miso soup, spring rolls, shrimp shumai (steamed), and the Sushi appitizer. Each one was well prepared and delicious. If you like Japanese food you have to try it. We went here on the recommendation of the yelpers, I have to say for us it was just ok , the service although very friendly was not attentive. The place is attractive, nice ambiance mostly clean. The saki was the best part of the meal , the appetizer was good not great the hand rolls were small , I thought the fish was a little hard , the special roll I got did not taste fresh at all and my husband did not like the sweet sauce on his. Truly overlooked Japanese place in the Westchester County-Greenwich-Stamford area. Having been to many Japanese restaurants, I consider myself to be relatively knowledgeable about the details of Japanese food. That being said, I was amazed at the quality of the fish at Murayama. Unlike other Japanese places outside the city, the owners must source their ingredients well, as fish is truly top-notch. Everyone in our family loves to get the sashimi and rolls from here and the quality stays high even for delivery. On the few occasions we have eaten in person, the staff has been very friendly and accommodating. Interior is clean and relatively modern, giving off a nice vibe. It was nice to be able to try some of the food off the menu instead of delivery-- we discovered their cooked items were just as good as their sushi/sashimi! We filled up on only appetizers. One thing to note, however, is that you should go in early! Once, we arrived and discovered the wait time would be approximately 30 minutes-- the place was packed. Understandably, it can be difficult to work solely as a husband-wife pair, so I would definitely encourage the owners to consider hiring more staff and focusing more on advertising. I felt bad when, while in the middle of our meal, we heard the couple having a full-blown argument in the kitchen. Overall, Murayama is one of our favorite places to grab some high-quality Japanese food. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount you get. Unlike one of the other reviewers, don't come here expecting to get good ramen for delivery. It is best to eat in for ramen/hot food and take out sushi/sashimi. And spread the word! Would be such a pity to lose this family-run gem. In the heart of Silver Lake next to the firehouse. The lady at the counter was very nice and friendly. Initially I was confused because on Maps the restaurant was called Mura Yama, and the sign outside of the restaurant said Silver Lake Sushi. I put two and two together however. I ordered the teriyaki beef lunch special to go. I was impressed with the amount of value I got for $15! The bento box came with 6 sushi rolls, 2 pieces of gyoza, white rice, a salad, and sliced teriyaki beef over veggies. All of the food was fresh and delicious. Hidden Gem: Definitely worth a try I stumbled upon Murayama after spending the day with my girlfriend in the Silver Lake park which is in front of the restaurant. Wasn't expecting much since local sushi places aren't the best but wow I was blown away by the food and hospitality. -Food- We ordered a few appetizers (fried calamari and edamame) and the signature rolls (Murayama Roll, 87 Roll & Sweet Dream Roll) which were all great; shown in photos but ate most of it LOL. -Hospitality- The restaurant is run by a lovely couple who runs the front and back of house. I haven't visited this restaurant in person, but tonight I ordered from them via Uber Eats. As I'm new to Westchester County, I haven't sampled any Ramen outside of Manhattan, but something tells me I'll be frequenting Silver Lake Murayama quite often. The Shoyu Ramen was absolutely fantastic, and the restaurant was kind enough to modify my order to keep it vegetarian friendly. That alone is worth a 5 star review! I also ordered the Peanut & Avocado Roll, and the Seaweed Salad, and both very fresh and delicious. This place is one of my go to sushi spots. The staff is very nice and welcoming . It is also a very clean place. As for the food, I usually order the maki combo : cali roll, crunchy salmon roll, and tuna roll . I personally love the way they make their rolls so tight and they use the perfect amount of rice. Tonight i ordered the sushi deluxe with a side of spicy crunchy tuna roll. It was fantastic (no surprise). On top of the taste, they are VERY consistent with the quality of the food. Big drawback: no liquor license!! I can't eat my sushi without some sake. Come on! Also, the sushi that I had was just fair. The seared salmon tasted too much like the grill on which it was seared. And the whole place WREAKED of fried oil....like overpowering and meal-ruining. The sushi was edible and server was very nice, but that's the only redeeming quality. MuraYama Sushi is a rare gem. With its modest exterior it's easy to miss this little treasure of a restaurant. Run by a lovely couple who opened the restaurant just in time for the pandemic to hit, they have developed a brisk takeout business. However, dining in the restaurant itself is a lovely experience. The sushi is the freshest I have ever had, artfully arranged with a variety of tasty sauces and dips. The attentive service and very reasonable prices make this a top choice for my family.
