Posting this review for my dad - overall, not a great stay. The photos on their website are a bit deceptive. They're advertising a rustic charm, but it comes across as an outdated cabin (felt and looked like 1950's), with really uncomfortable beds, and the expectation that you take care of everything while you are there (linens, towels, etc). The floors are about as level as a fun house, causing most things in the place to be oddly tilted. My Dad said we should leave a 2 star review, because ultimately, it was a cabin with a fireplace on a lake. But, we would not stay again for the price we paid - pretty close to a 1 star review.

It's the kind of serenity your spirit needs, A place that's nostalgic, a throw back in time. It's the kind of place you learn to appreciate although you may complain about the vintage cooking utensils or the fact that you have to actually hand wash your dishes and clothes, and your AC unit is simply the same breeze that blows a tall ships sail to the Island of Mackinaw. At Shaginapi your portals that keep you connected to social obligations and the daily grind are pretty much just used only when your forced to take a trip into town to stock your vintage fridge with dairy products (about 30 minutes away) Now I have to admit yes I would rather spend a few weeks with a little more tangible benefits. I mean lets be realistic, who doesn't enjoy a walking distant to the spa or a chilled tall drink with a fancy umbrella served by the "Beautiful People" But I also would like to believe that Nature is good for you, Right? I need not praise. It is beyond my capacity. Nature has got its own powers, strength, beauty and what not. The owners somehow kept this place unique. They keep it simplistic. They keep it pure.

Staff is very friendly and efficient. The process to check in luggage at the dock in the city and then they show up in your room was seamless. From the dock to the porters, it's down to a science. Two of the three restaurants allow dogs on the patio, so again - a major win for them. It is on the pricier side BUT you need to weight the pros and cons and we'll always choose Mission Point Resort.

And remember throughout this review, the room costs $900 per night!!! This place is not a luxury resort as advertised and our "suite" was nothing more than a pretty run down Motel Six room. The check-in process is fairly complicated and throughout our stay the staff acted like they were gatekeeping information and it was a bother to provide information on check in or check out procedures. Our room #2380 was located in the Straights Building and was about a 1/8 mile uphill walk from the front desk. This caused mobility issues for my friends elderly mother in which the hotel provided no help. The room itself was an absolute disaster at about 100 ft.². For $900 a night you get three beds and one chair. When we asked for two additional chairs we were provided two folding chairs. The room itself is very dated and dirty. The tv remote was broken and the bathtub did not drain which required two maintenance men one hour to fix. There are two very noisy window air conditioner units, which will keep you up all night. We had two dogs with us so booked the "luxury "dog package, which is a total scam. It is an extra $200 per night for which they provide a plastic dog bowl. They advertise that they provide dog sitting, but when we asked about this they said to go on the Rover app and book it with a stranger. No thank you. Mission Point Resort tries to pass itself off as old school luxury. In actuality, it is just rundown, dirty and grimy for $900 a night. At this point the only fix for such a dilapidated facility would be to shut it down for several years and do a complete remodel and rehabilitation. We were very disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this establishment.
